Brand new video of the Budapest Christmas Market at the Vorosmarty square and St Stephen’s square (Basilica) in 4K-Ultra HD!

In love, and safety - with this slogan, the Advent Basilica, Budapest's uniquely beautiful Christmas fair, opens its doors. Last year, in the online voting of the European Best Destinations, the series of events chosen as the most beautiful Christmas market in Europe awaits its visitors from November 20 until the first day of the new year in front of St. Stephen's Basilica in one of the most impressive squares of the Hungarian capital.

True to the tradition of this year's 10-year-old Advent Basilica, it promises an unparalleled festive atmosphere, quality pastimes, a special gastronomic offer and a more colorful program than ever before - all with safety measures that allow for cloudless celebrations during a coronavirus epidemic.

More than 100 artisan and gastronomic vendor offers its portico, the latter in addition to the popular fair food, as well as many delicacies available only here.

The spectacularly decorated atmosphere of the fair itself is completed by the highly successful lightshow projected on the Basilica in recent years.

The organizers will once again set up the interactive self-point, which debuted with great success last year. Entrepreneurial shoppers can conjure a unique pattern on the facade of the Basilica to then take a photo and post the work they have created themselves.

In addition to a number of family and children's programs, a free ice rink with skates can be set up for children from 20 November.

Organizers place great emphasis on coronavirus epidemic prevention. Mandatory use for hand sanitizers and masks which willbe available at several exhibitors, disposable socks for rink users, a thermal camera to monitor the fair as a whole, and qualified medical staff and a covid tent are planned for a safe stay.

Street Food in Budapest, Hungary. Christmas Markets in Vörösmarty, Erzsébet Square & Fashion St

instagram: settime2588

Budapest's Christmas markets offer a festive experience for visitors of all ages. Vörösmarty Square, the most famous market, features over 100 wooden cabins selling traditional handmade arts and crafts. The square is adorned with fairy-tale lights and boasts a 12-meter tall Christmas tree. Indulge in regional Christmas treats such as goulash soup, hurka sausages, and Beigli strudel.
After exploring Vörösmarty Square, venture to Deák Ferenc Street, known as Fashion Street, for high-end shopping amid colorful lights and festive decorations. Another option is the Christmas Fair at St. Stephen’s Basilica, where an ice-skating rink surrounds a two-story Christmas tree, and stalls offer local crafts and goods. Capture the festive atmosphere after sunset with a 3D visual show on the Basilica.
For a more local experience, visit Óbuda's Christmas market on the Buda side, featuring an ice skating rink, a traditional carousel, and concerts. Enjoy traditional Hungarian dishes like töltött káposzta (stuffed cabbage) while browsing handicrafts.
Erzsébet Square’s Christmas market stands out for its diverse food offerings. Beneath the city's Ferris wheel, indulge in Hungarian specialties such as cooked sausages, lángos (cheesy flatbread), and kürtőskalác (caramelized brioche). Adults can savor palinka, Hungary’s national fruit brandy, while kids enjoy hot chocolate and szaloncukor, a festive Christmas chocolate.

Budapest Christmas Market

When you think of European Christmas markets, do you ever think of Hungary? Hungary has emerged as one of the best Central European countries for Christmas markets, with Budapest, its capital, offering show-stopping decorations, Christmas trees, and Christmas villages.

The Hungarian capital knows how to host a Christmas market, as the dark nights are brightly illuminated by extravagant Christmas light displays and tall Christmas trees. From mid-November through the New Year, Budapest’s many markets are a feast of goulash, stuffed cabbage, paprika sausages, langos which is fried bread topped with cheese and cream and indulgent chimney cakes. You’ll love the food, and you’ll love the singing, the music, the ice skating, and the traditions.

Budapest, Hungary's enchanting capital, is renowned for its stunning architecture and rich history. However, during the festive season, it transforms into a winter wonderland, with its Christmas markets taking centre stage. The Budapest Christmas Market, primarily located at the Vörösmarty Square and St Stephen’s Square, is a magical experience, brimming with tradition, charm, and holiday cheer.

As you approach Vörösmarty Square, the heart of Budapest's Christmas celebrations, the air is filled with the sweet scent of traditional Hungarian pastries like kürtőskalács (chimney cake) and the sound of festive music. The market is typically adorned with twinkling lights, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Wooden stalls, artistically crafted, line the square, offering a range of Hungarian crafts and gifts – from hand-painted ceramics and embroidered textiles to custom-made jewellery and wooden toys. This market is a haven for those seeking unique, high-quality Christmas gifts that are locally made and infused with Hungarian culture.

The culinary offerings at the Budapest Christmas Market are a highlight in themselves. Apart from the famous chimney cake, visitors can indulge in a variety of Hungarian delicacies such as goulash, lángos (fried dough with various toppings), and grilled sausages. For those looking to warm up, there is an abundance of hot drinks available, including forralt bor (mulled wine) spiced to perfection and hot apple cider.

St Stephen’s Square, near the magnificent St Stephen’s Basilica, hosts another enchanting Christmas market. Here, the backdrop of the illuminated basilica adds an extra layer of splendour to the market experience. An open-air ice rink surrounds the base of the basilica, offering a unique skating experience for visitors of all ages. The market here is known for its handcrafted items and an array of traditional Hungarian foods, similar to Vörösmarty Square but with its unique flair.

The entertainment at the Budapest Christmas Market is another aspect that adds to its charm. The markets often host live performances, ranging from folk dances to classical music concerts, showcasing Hungary's rich cultural heritage. Children are also well catered for, with numerous activities and workshops designed to engage and enchant the younger visitors.

Budapest's Christmas markets are not just shopping destinations; they are cultural experiences. They offer a glimpse into Hungarian traditions and a chance to partake in the festive spirit that engulfs the city during this time. The markets typically open in mid-November and run until the end of December, sometimes even extending into the New Year, making them a perfect holiday destination.

In summary, the Budapest Christmas Market is a festive, joyful, and culturally rich experience. It's a place where the spirit of Christmas is palpable in every corner, from the twinkling lights and the scent of traditional foods to the sound of music and the laughter of children. Whether you're there to shop for unique crafts, enjoy the delicious Hungarian cuisine, or simply soak in the festive atmosphere, the Budapest Christmas Market offers an unforgettable experience that embodies the essence of a traditional Hungarian Christmas.
