10. Frigate Bird Sanctuary
Barbuda's Frigate Bird Sanctuary is a haven for birders. Accessible only by boat, the bird sanctuary lies in Barbuda's northwest lagoon and is home to one of the largest nesting colonies of frigate birds in the Caribbean.
9. Fig Tree Drive
Along Antigua's southern coast, Fig Tree Drive winds through rainforest, farmlands, and fishing villages. This picturesque drive offers a glimpse of local life. Banana trees (called figs by the locals), mango trees, and coconut palms dot the landscape, as well as the ruins of sugar mills.
8. Museum of Antigua and Barbuda
The Museum of Antigua and Barbuda traces the history of these islands from their geological origins to political independence in 1981. Housed in the museum is a full-scale replica of an Arawak dwelling, as well as pottery, weaving, tools, and exhibits on the islands' different ecosystems.
7. Devil's Bridge: Indian Town National Park
Along the rugged northeast coast, the dramatic scenery of Indian Town National Park features the natural limestone Devil's Bridge, sculpted over the centuries by the pounding surf. At high tide, waves force geysers of water through blowholes in the nearby rock.
6. St. John's
St. John's, the capital city and cruise ship port of Antigua and Barbuda, is a kaleidoscope of candy-hued colonial cottages and market stalls piled high with tropical fruits and flowers. Looming above the skyline are the white neo-Baroque towers of St. John's Cathedral, one of the city's most distinctive buildings.
5. Dickenson Bay
In the far north of Antigua, Dickenson Bay is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the island. Fronted by a long stretch of white sand beach lined with resorts and alfresco restaurants, the bay is great for swimming and offers the spectrum of water sports.
4. Nelson's Dockyard National Park
One of Antigua's most popular tourist attractions, Nelson's Dockyard National Park, in English Harbour, is home to Antigua's former 18th-century British Naval Dockyard (inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in July, 2016) as well as restored historic buildings and some of the island's best nature trails.
3. 17 Mile Beach
Those who stroll Barbuda's 17 Mile Beach, will probably never see a more ravishing stretch of sand, nor another footprint. Lapped by pale aqua seas, this stunning stretch of pink-tinged sand separates the Barbuda lagoon from the Caribbean Sea, and pleases even the most jaded beach connoisseurs.
2. Stingray City
If you have a lifelong fear of stingrays, this fun face-to-face adventure a five-minute speedboat ride off the east coast of Antigua, should banish those fears forever.
1. Half Moon Bay
At the southeastern end of Antigua, tranquil Half Moon Bay is fringed by one of the Caribbean's best beaches. Protected by a reef, this idyllic crescent of fine white sand and azure sea, backed by natural foliage, offers excellent snorkeling on calm days.
TOP 10 Places to Visit in Antigua and Barbuda
One of the more beach-heavy destinations the Caribbean has to offer, the irresistible duo of Antigua and Barbuda is said to have one stretch of sand for every day of the year! And while no one’s quite sure if the count is accurate (we doubt anyone’s managed to check out all the beaches), there’s no question that some of the little coves and inlets are among the most beautiful in the world.
They run from the shimmering powder of 17-mile Beach on far-flung Barbuda to the secluded reaches of Rendezvous Bay, with oodles of palm-backed sunbathing spots and snorkeling opportunities along the way.
But these islands are about more than just sea and sand; there’s history and adventure too.
Visitors can check out everything from stingray-packed coral beds to crumbling English fortresses, see where naval frigates would have docked in the 1700s and wonder at colossal cliff faces carved from the rocks.

1 Half Moon Bay, Antigua
At the southeastern end of Antigua, tranquil Half Moon Bay is fringed by one of Antigua's best beaches. Protected by a reef, this idyllic crescent of fine white sand and azure sea, backed by natural foliage, offers excellent snorkeling on calm days. When the wind is up, the surf can be rough. A small restaurant serves snacks just off the beach.
2 St. John's, Antigua
St John's, the capital city and cruise ship port of Antigua and Barbuda, is a kaleidoscope of candy-hued colonial cottages and market stalls piled high with tropical fruits and flowers. Looming above the skyline are the white neo-Baroque towers of St. John's Cathedral, one of the city's major attractions. For an overview of the island's history, many first-time visitors head to the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda in the 18th century former Court House. Shopping is also excellent in St. John's.
3 St. John's Cathedral, Antigua
A city landmark, St. John' Cathedral, topped by Baroque-style towers, has experienced many reincarnations. Originally consecrated as a wooden structure in 1683, the Anglican cathedral was rebuilt from stone in 1745, then again in 1847 after earthquakes struck. Local lore states the carved figures of St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist at the iron entrance gate originally adorned the masts of one of Napoleon's ships.
4 Museum of Antigua and Barbuda
The Museum of Antigua and Barbuda traces the history of these islands from their geological origins to political independence in 1981. Housed in the museum is a full-scale replica of an Arawak dwelling, as well as portraits of Sir Joshua Reynolds, King George III, and Queen Caroline. The museum is located in the former 18th-century Courthouse in St John's.
5 Dockyard National Park, Antigua
One of Antigua's most popular attractions, Nelson's Dockyard National Park, in English Harbour, is home to Antigua's former 18th-century British Naval Dockyard as well as restored historic buildings and some of the island's best nature trails. The restored marina with beautiful old stone warehouses encompasses hotels, restaurants, shops, galleries, and museums.
6 Dickenson Bay, Antigua
In the far north of Antigua, Dickenson Bay is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the island. Activity booths are sprinkled along the beach. The bay is also the hub for Antigua's windsurfing scene.
7 Indian Town National Park, Antigua
Along the rugged northeast coast, the dramatic scenery of Indian Town National Park features some rewarding hikes and excellent birding. More than 36 avian species roost in the park among the acacia trees, while the eastern point of the park is believed to have been an Arawak campsite. The park also encompasses the natural limestone Devil's Bridge sculpted over the centuries by the pounding surf. At high tide, waves force geysers of water through blowholes in the nearby rock.
8 Fig Tree Drive
Along Antigua's southern coast, Fig Tree Drive winds through rainforest, farmlands, and fishing villages. This picturesque drive offers a glimpse of local life. Banana trees (called figs by the locals), mango trees, and coconut palms dot the landscape, as well as the ruins of sugar mills. Look for the roadside stands selling fresh-picked fruit. Along the route, the Fig Tree Studio Art Gallery sells vibrant local art and zipline rainforest tours are nearby.
9 17 Mile Beach, Barbuda
Those who stroll Barbuda's 17 Mile Beach, will probably never see a more ravishing stretch of sand, nor another footprint. Lapped by pale aqua seas, this stunning stretch of pink-tinged sand separates the Barbuda lagoon from the Caribbean sea, and pleases even the most hardened beach connoisseurs. Facilities are few, if non-existent so visitors should bring their own supplies.
10 Frigate Bird Sanctuary, Barbuda
Barbuda's Frigate Bird Sanctuary is a haven for birders. Accessible only by boat, the bird sanctuary lies in Barbuda's northwest lagoon and is home to one of the Caribbean's largest nesting colonies of frigate birds. Antigua and Barbuda have sadly both experienced some tough circumstances over the years, but these little Caribbean beauties continue to pull tourists to the amazing beaches, food and people each year. We decided to take an island safari tour around Antigua to get a real feel for what Antigua is like outside of the tourist resorts.
Barbuda wasn't on our itinerary this time, but hopefully on our next visit to the Caribbean we will get the chance to also tour around Barbuda safari style to scope out how the island is/has recovered.
Thats a wrap on our Caribbean travel vlogs, this time in Antigua has been exactly what we needed... an eye opening experience, a luxury state and a chilled vibe. We've got nothing but love for the island and everyone we had the pleasure of meeting.

Do not miss visiting these places in Antigua and Barbuda - Drone View
Welcome to our amazing video about Antigua and Barbuda!
The tropical islands of Antigua and Barbuda are located in the heart of the Caribbean about a thousand miles to the east of Jamaica and half that distance from Trinidad on the coast of South America. We are at 17- N latitude, about the same as the Cape Verde Islands and Bombay and 61- W longitude.
The island of Antigua was born out of the sea by a volcano about 30 million years ago. A young island in geologic time. On the northern flank of this volcano, reefs were formed, hence the greater part of Antigua is low lying and is composed of limestone rock.
The highest point of Antigua is 1,319 ft in the south-west and is called Boggy Peak, but the limestone Highlands of Barbuda rise to only 125 ft. The area of Antigua is 108 square miles, while Barbuda is 62 square miles. The population of the former is approaching 80,000, but the latter is relatively unpopulated at 1,300. Days and nights are refreshingly cooled by the gentle trade winds.
Barbuda became separated from Antigua by about 28 miles, when the sea-levels of the world rose considerably at about 10,000 BC. Today parts of Barbuda are geologically flooded to form interesting lagoons. Here may be seen the largest breeding and nesting colony of the Magnificent Frigate Bird in the world. Barbuda supports a tremendous diversity of native habitats, as yet unthreatened by development. Reef-fringed Barbuda may be one of the best kept ecological secrets in the West Indies. Her rugged scenery, beautiful beaches, (one at least 12 miles long), lagoons and abundant wildlife may be a resource as valuable as its fisheries.
Antiguan’s and Barbudan’s are cricket-lovers and the country has produced four of the greatest West Indies Test cricket players. The famous Antigua Recreation Grounds, The Sir Vivian Cricket Stadium and the Coolidge Cricket Grounds are three of the finest venues in the Caribbean to take in a local, regional, or international match. Visit the Antigua and Barbuda Museum to see the infamous cricket bat of Sir Vivian Richards, native Antiguan, former captain of the West Indies Cricket Team, and one of the greatest batsmen of all time and our National Hero. Cricket matches are played throughout the island during the Cricket season which runs from January – July.
Antigua and Barbuda Mango Festival
Our juicy mango gets its moment to shine in July during the Antigua and Barbuda Mango Festival. The two-day event showcases a variety of mangoes that will delight passionate mango-lovers. The Mango stalls overflow, with a selection of mangoes, mango trees on sale, and the very best mango treats such as jams, pepper sauces, wines, smoothies, pastries, ice-creams, scented candles and soaps all made in Antigua and Barbuda.
