Zagreb (Croatia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Zagreb is the political and cultural heart of Croatia, an amiable capital city located at the intersection of Central, Eastern and Southern Europe and a city that holds many memories of the Danube Monarchy. Zagreb originated in the Middle Ages from two rival settlements on neighbouring hills, the bishop's seat of Kaptol which is dominated by its cathedral and the free city of Gradec which was its political centre. They both formed the city’s Upper Town. The cathedral dominates the Kaptol district, its two steeples towering above the old city. The city’s marvellous Botanical Garden contains an array of wonderful natural sights. It boasts ten thousand tree and plant varieties including alpine, Mediterranean, and the exotic. Small ponds with water plants are also included in the four point seven hectare gardens. An imposing arcaded facade forms the entrance to the Mirogoj Cemetery which is laid out as a park and is an artistic masterpiece. Here, leading sculptors built tombs for the country’s most famous personalities from the arts, culture and politics, including the grave of Franjo Tudjman. A narrow mountain road leads up to the Medvednica Nature Park, outside the city gates. The mediaeval Medvedgrad Fortress is a most striking and interesting attraction located in twenty three thousand hectares of natural landscape. Zagreb is a special city, unique, with a never-ending story, a city that has witnessed a thousand years and, due to its historic values, has become a European Capital Of Culture.

10. Volcán, Panama
Volcán in Panama, also called the Shangri-La Valley, is one of the healthiest and most beautiful places in the world. It’s a popular location for people searching for a low cost of living and stunning scenery, but there’s more to this place than the mountains. Something about Volcán means that residents tend to live for far longer than you would expect based on the life expectancy of the rest of the country, with people often living well into their 80’s or 90’s.
This is likely due to the lifestyle you can enjoy here. Volcán is in the Chiriquí province, which is also known as Panama’s breadbasket, and provides about 80% of Panama’s produce. Farms of all sizes grow pretty much anything you could ever want. With constant spring-like temperatures, thermal springs, and fresh food that includes seafood, eggs and fruits; people that live here exist in a bubble of serenity and health. This is, of course, helped by the surrounding landscape, national parks and a wide variety of wildlife that makes it one of the best bird-watching locations in the whole of Panama.
9. Sardinia, Italy
The island of Sardinia is one of the first places in the world to be identified as a blue zone, a place that holds the world’s longest living people. It’s actually the place that has the highest concentration of male centenarians, with nearly ten times as many per capita than there are in the United States.
The reason why the people here live so long is a combination of their genetic traits along with their lifestyle, and it’s a great place to live. Not just if you want to live longer but because of their quality of life. They tend to keep things simple and have low stress! Life shouldn’t be so complicated! Islanders still hunt, fish and harvest all of the food that they eat, with a diet based around whole grain bread, beans, lots of vegetables and fruits, goat’s milk and cheese. They only tend eat meat on special occasions. The island is also a wonderful place to walk around and explore, and with their close community involvement and love for wine, you could do worse than to make this place your home.
8. Costa Rica
With cloud forests at five thousand feet, to glorious white sandy beaches, Costa Rica has everything you could want from a place to live. Add to this the bustling cities full of entertainment and culture, reliable infrastructure, and good health care, it’s no wonder that it’s a popular destination for expats and people looking to relocate looking for a better quality of life.
The happy planet index, which measures human well-being and environmental impact, ranks Costa Rica as one of the best places in the world to live. This is the result of a unique way of life in the country. For example, since 1949 their constitution has forbidden them from having an army, and it’s the location of the United Nations University for Peace. There’s also an impressive life expectancy, and a literacy rate of 97.8 per cent.
Everything is relatively cheap here too, although housing has gone up since it is popular with expats, and there’s no end of wondrous sights. Despite taking up 0.03 per cent of the planet, over 5% of the world’s biodiversity can be found here in the numerous protected forests and reserves that are full of hummingbirds, sloths and plenty more.
Origins Explained is the place to be to find all the answers to your questions, from mysterious events and unsolved mysteries to everything there is to know about the world and its amazing animals!

Street Food in Bangkok - Awesome PAD THAI and Instant Noodles on Petchaburi Soi 5!
Petchaburi Soi 5 is one of the best Bangkok street food streets!

Petchaburi Soi 5 (เพชรบุรี ซอย 5) has long been one of my go-to street food streets in Bangkok. Starting in the evening at around 4 pm, the entire road starts to fill with street food carts selling all sorts of Thai dishes. You’ll find everything from rice and curry to soup noodles, snacks, and fresh fruits and vegetables. It had been a few years since I had explore Petchaburi Soi 5 (เพชรบุรี ซอย 5), so in this Thai street food tour I’m taking you with me to some of my old favorites, and some new spots. Enjoy!
Yam mama (ยำมาม่า) - 50 THB ($1.52) - This is the first dish I tried. MAMA are Thai instant noodles and this is a completely different way to eat them - in mixed salad form.
Khanom krok (ขนมครก) - 30 THB ($0.92) - Coconut griddle cakes are one of my favorites, they are crunchy on the outside and gooey in the center. Don’t miss this Thai street food snack.
Cha yen (ชาเย็น) - 25 THB ($0.76) per cup - Thai tea
Pad thai (ผัดไทย), Hoy tod (หอยทอด) - This was formerly a street food cart that now has their own permanent shophouse location. They make pretty decent Pad Thai and they hoy tod, which in this case in a mussels omelet, is pretty good as well.
Total price - 125 THB ($3.81)
Nam prik pla too (น้ำพริกปลาทู) - For something a little healthier, I’m a huge fan of nam pirk pla too, a pounded chili mackerel sauce that’s eaten with vegetables.
Total price - 70 THB ($2.14) for everything
Chao guay (เฉาก๋วย) - 25 THB ($0.76) - For dessert, I had grass jelly with ice. The owner was so friendly and happy.
Haircut - 100 THB ($3.05)
Pad kra prao moo krob kai dao (ผัดกระเพราหมูกรอบไข่ดาว) - Final meal of this Bangkok street food tour, I headed across the street to Petchaburi Soi 10 to seek out one of my old time favorites. The stall was still there, and they make a pretty good plate of Thai crispy pork belly fried with basil.
Price - 40 THB ($1.22)
Thank you for joining me on this Thai street food tour of Petchaburi Soi 5 (เพชรบุรี ซอย 5). It’s the type of street you can walk through and just choose whatever you like to eat.
