Costa Rica - Biodiversity in its most beautiful form

Costa Rica is home to a rich variety of plants and animals. While the country has only about 0.03% of the world's landmass, it contains 5% of the world's biodiversity. Around 25% of the country's land area is in protected national parks and protected areas, the largest percentage of protected areas in the world (developing world average 13%, developed world average 8%). Costa Rica has successfully managed to diminish deforestation from some of the worst rates in the world from 1973 to 1989, to almost zero by 2005.[65]

One national park, the Corcovado National Park, is internationally renowned among ecologists for its biodiversity (including big cats and tapirs) and is where visitors can expect to see an abundance of wildlife.[68][69] Corcovado is the one park in Costa Rica where all four Costa Rican monkey species can be found. These include the white-headed capuchin, the mantled howler, the endangered Geoffroy's spider monkey, and the Central American squirrel monkey, found only on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica and a small part of Panama, and considered endangered until 2008, when its status was upgraded to vulnerable. Deforestation, illegal pet-trading, and hunting are the main reasons for its threatened status.

New York City 8K - VR 360 Drive - Midtown Manhattan

Driving Downtown VR 360 - Park Avenue - New York City New York USA
The City of New York, often called New York City (NYC) or simply New York (NY), is the most populous city in the United States. With an estimated 2017 population of 8,622,698 distributed over a land area of about 302.6 square miles (784 km2), New York City is also the most densely populated major city in the United States. Located at the southern tip of the state of New York, the city is the center of the New York metropolitan area, the largest metropolitan area in the world by urban landmass and one of the world's most populous megacities, with an estimated 20,320,876 people in its 2017 Metropolitan Statistical Area and 23,876,155 residents in its Combined Statistical Area. A global power city, New York City has been described uniquely as the cultural, financial, and media capital of the world, and exerts a significant impact upon commerce, entertainment, research, technology, education, politics, tourism, art, fashion, and sports. The city's fast pace has inspired the term New York minute. Home to the headquarters of the United Nations, New York is an important center for international diplomacy.

What is Virutal Reality?
Virtual reality (VR) is a computer-generated scenario that simulates a realistic experience. The immersive environment can be similar to the real world in order to create a lifelike experience grounded in reality or sci-fi. Augmented reality systems may also be considered a form of VR that layers virtual information over a live camera feed into a headset, or through a smartphone or tablet device.

What is 360 Degree Video?
360-degree videos, also known as immersive videos or spherical videos, are video recordings where a view in every direction is recorded at the same time, shot using an omnidirectional camera or a collection of cameras. During playback the viewer has control of the viewing direction like a panorama.

Best Way To Watch It?
The Samsung Gear VR is a mobile virtual reality headset developed by Samsung Electronics, in collaboration with Oculus, and manufactured by Samsung. The headset was released on November 2015.

When in use, a compatible Samsung Galaxy device (Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6/S6 Edge/S6 Edge+, Galaxy S7/S7 Edge, Galaxy S8/S8+, or Galaxy Note 8 is required) acts as the headset's display and processor, while the Gear VR unit itself acts as the controller, which contains the field of view, as well as a custom inertial measurement unit, or IMU, for rotational tracking, which connects to the smartphone via micro-USB. The Gear VR headset also includes a touchpad and back button on the side, as well as a proximity sensor to detect when the headset is on.

Daydream is a virtual reality (VR) platform developed by Google that is built into the Android mobile operating system. Compatible phones that follow the platform's software and hardware specifications (and are thus designated Daydream-ready) are used in the Google Daydream View VR headset. The Daydream platform was announced at the Google I/O developer conference in May 2016, with the first VR headset released in November 2016. Daydream is the company's second VR platform following Google Cardboard, which was a low-cost system intended to encourage interest in VR and was built into compatible mobile apps rather than the operating system itself.

A virtual reality headset is a head-mounted device that provides virtual reality for the wearer. VR headsets are widely used with computer games but they are also used in other applications, including simulators and trainers. They comprise a stereoscopic head-mounted display (providing separate images for each eye), stereo sound, and head motion tracking sensors (which may include gyroscopes, accelerometers, structured light systems, etc.). Some VR headsets also have eye tracking sensors and gaming controllers.

West African Food - EXOTIC DELICACY in GHANA!

Bushmeat is a term that is used to often describe wild game meat in Africa. And while there some types of bushmeat that are not good or unsafe to eat - grasscutter - also known as a greater cane rat, is safe and one of the most popular types of bushmeat to eat in West Africa. It’s a delicacy!

So while we were driving on our way to Elmina, Ghana, along the side of the highway, we stopped at some hunters, and bought a grasscutter.

Later in the day, we met up with our host family, and we drove over to the Elmina fishing market. The market was amazing, bright and colorful, and energetic, with some unique fish and seafood available from the Atlantic. We bought some fish to go along with our grasscutter, and then we continued back to the house to start cooking.

First for lunch, Mama made us a dish called Eto, a mash up of yam and palm nut oil, topped with eggs. It was a little on the dry side for me, but it was an honor to have a chance to try that special Ghanaian dish.

For dinner we prepared the fish and grasscutter. The fish was made into Ghanaian groundnut or peanut soup, which is one of the best dishes I at in Ghana. The grasscutter was made into a bushmeat grasscutter light soup which included chilies, garlic, onions, ginger, and tomato.

Finally, for the main start of the meal Mama made omo tuo, Ghana style rice balls.

How does grasscutter taste? The greater cane rats run around the fields and eat grass, so unsurprisingly some parts kind of taste like grass. But they are a white meat, and have a similar look to chicken, but the meat is even sweeter. It was also surprisingly fall apart tender. I thought it was amazing!

Across West African food, grasscutter is a very popular meat, and a delicacy eaten on special occasions.

Most journeys begin at Penn Station or Grand Central, and if you arrive at the later you'll be wowed by the building. The Meatpacking District was once home to markets, slaughterhouses, and packaging plants, but times have changed. Today you'll find a mixture of trendy restaurants, clubs and boutiques. The Village used to be a bohemian neighborhood that drew artists and musicians, but today you're more likely to find upper middle class families living here. Completed in 1883, Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Williamsburg has become popular given its lower rent prices. University students and young professionals have been flocking to this part of town.
You can walk along the riverfront for a great view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and the Manhattan skyline. During the summer months, Bryant Park also becomes a popular hangout spot people looking to relax and even work on their tans. The Staten Island Ferry is free of charge and this makes it really popular with visitors who want to catch a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from a distance. Battery Park is located on the southern tip of Manhattan. Having both lived in South Korea, we were thrilled to come across Manhattan's own Little Korea. Coney Island is all about good old fashioned fun. The Cloisters will make you feel like you've travelled over to Europe. Central Park is massive and there are so many places to visit within its boundaries. We managed to visit Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn, Shakespeare Garden, The Ramble, The Jackie Onassis Reservoir, the Alice in Wonderland Statue, and we still left feeling like we barely scratched the surface.

And that concludes a look at our very busy week in New York City. I'm still shocked we managed to cover so many attractions, but the great thing about this city is that distances aren't very long and there's always something really cool worth checking out around each corner. Have you been to New York? What are your favorite things about this city? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.

The Netherlands - 8 Cities You’ve Never Seen! - Explored by an American

I'm an American who traveled for a month in the Netherlands. This video focuses on 8 interesting, smaller towns/cities that you may not have heard of before. During some portions of the video I'm even kind enough to stop and share my vast knowledge concerning Dutch culture. Dutch windmills, Dutch cheese, Dutch stairs, bicycles, stroopwafel, and a few random playgrounds of course!

I include some footage from Amsterdam as well. I was there during the national holiday King's Day or Koningsdag. Also the famous Rijksmuseum!

The cities I travel to in this video include: Utrecht, Haarlem, Delft, Eindhoven, Maastricht, Heusden, Den Bosch (s'Hertogenbosch), and Valkenburg. And Amsterdam too.

Mars Calling: Manifest Destiny or Grand Illusion

This film brings together the mythic and the scientific to show that Mars may not be what we imagine. Some believe Mars is the next home for Humanity. But the real “red planet” is a trickster; strikingly beautiful, yet sweetly sinister. Even as a growing armada of instruments arrive, this small cold world continues to conceal its secrets. The technological means to cross space and perhaps bring this small world back to life is just now coming within our grasp. Settlers beware: Mars is likely to change Humanity as much as we change it.

20 BEAUTIFUL Places To See In Europe

The great thing about this continent is that you can travel to a completely different world by train and experience a whole new culture and language. Let’s touch upon some of the most beautiful things to see in the continent that was once considered the center of the world.

Subscribe to Talltanic

7. Lapland, FInland
Okay, for those of you not sold on exploring the outdoors--think about how rare it is to experience the northern lights. There’s only a few places in the world that you can see those colorful, all natural lights in the sky. And one of them includes Lapland, Finland. The Lapland region measures to 100,367 kilometers square. When covered in snow and the moon’s our and the lights make themselves visible in the sky, a trip to Lapland looks like a scene from a Christmas movie. Would you traverse the cold for a chance to experience those lights?

6. Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany
On a forested hill in the region of southwest Bavaria sits Neuschwanstein Castle, up at an elevation of 2,260 feet or 800 meters high. Ludwig II of Bavaria commissioned the construction of the castle in 1832 to be a retreat as well as be dedicated to Richard Wagner--the famed German composer. Every year, 1.3 million people tour the castle, with a traffic of 6,000 individuals per day. Many get drawn to the architectural design of the castle, a mix of castle romanticism called “burgenromantik” and other styles.

5. Tunnel Of Love, Ukraine
Nope, that’s not from some children’s fantasy movie. That’s a real industrial railway that exists in the Ukraine. Located near the territory of Klevan, this section of railway got famous for the green leaved arches that surround the entire path--which extends to about 3 to 5 kilometers long. Called “the Tunnel of Love” for the many couples that frequent the path together, which does make it really difficult for train operators to watch out for.

4. Quinta da Regaleira Initiation Well, Portugal
Travelling to Sintra, Portugal means you’re going to see lots of 19th century architecture constructed in the Romantic style. As a result, the entire municipality had been made a UNESCO World Heritage Site. But perhaps one of the most beautiful and mysterious places in Sintra includes the Initiation Well of Quinta da Regaleira. Through a series of tunnels and caves, you can reach the well, which has a spiral formation to get to the bottom. People did not use the well for water. Rather, it served as a location for ceremonial Tarot Initiation rites.

3. Bavarian Alps,
Let’s be real. The Alps in any country would be awesome to visit anyway. We picked the Bavarian Alps just because it looks a little more green. This region of the Northern Limestone Alps ranges from between the Saalach and Lech rivers. Not to fret--just because it looks green in these pictures doesn’t mean snow doesn’t still cover other parts of the Bavarian Alps. People love to ski here, as well as take in the health retreats, visit the villages, and relax at the spas during the non-ski season, too.

2. Oxford University, England
Located in the south east English city of Oxford, you’ll find one of the most well-known universities not only in the world but in history. Oxford University not only provides quality and expensive education, but it also has a lot of really neat architectural structures. From St. Mary’s church to the Radcliffe Camera to the All Souls college, there’s not shortage of pictures to take on an afternoon walk through campus. Alright, alright. If you prefer Cambridge, we can’t blame you. But for simplicity’s sake, we had to pick one. And we picked Oxford. If you want to argue Cambridge’s case, you’re more than welcome to in the comments!
