13 Stunningly Beautiful Places In America

From Castle Rock in Grove County to Watkins Glen State Park here are 13 Stunningly Beautiful Places In America you need to go visit!

Subscribe to Talltanic

6 - Turnip Rock on Lake Huron
Lake Huron is one of America's five great lakes, it comprises the easterly portion of Lake Michigan. But the real beauty lives inside the lake, near Port Austin, it is called Turnip Rock. Eroded by watery waves over the course of thousands and thousands of years is this freestanding rock. The popular outdoor destination is well known by locals for its scenic views and crystal clear waters. You can only reach this coveted land mass by boat, once there, climbing the rocky ledges reveal a stunning forest, nearly untouched by time or filthy human hands. The geological formation is a lesser known American Beauty, but still one of the best, especially for those who thrive in the outdoors.

5 - Castle Rock in Grove County
Aeons ago, as the stories say, an ancient sea covered nearly all of the Midwest, inside this lush grove, found in Kansas, a maddening array of chalk deposits span nearly 11 miles, and are said to be breathtakingly beautiful. There are limestone pillars which tower over the nearby badlands of the Smoky Hills region, but the big sensation here, is Castle Rock, a landmark on the Butterfield Overland Despatch route, known by many as the Overland Trail. Castle Rock's name hails from its resemblance to a castle rising above the prairie. This place of natural divinity is one of the 8 wonders of Kansas.

4 - Yosemite Valley
From the lush grooves which dwell inside the mountainous world of Northern California comes this monumentally gorgeous National Park. Enter through the Tunnel View, take either of the hiking trail loops which stay within the valley and lead to the trailheads, which force visitors to travel upwards, for some truly scenic wonders. Yosemite Falls is the highest waterfall in all of North America. The valley is around 8 miles long and nearly a full mile deep, some of the best summits are rumoured to be the Half Dome, Cathedral Rocks, Three Brothers and El Capitan. There are over ten wondrous waterfalls, endless mountain rocks, gorges and canyons, as well as so many pine trees, it will make your head spin!

3 - Horseshoe Bend
This next place of intensive American beauty can be found in the bend of the Colorado River from the Arizona side, pretty darn close to that illustrious world of rock called the Grand Canyon. This formation of land is, as you may have guessed, in the shape of a horseshoe, the bend is located approximately 5 miles downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell. The hike for access is roughly one and a half miles, and from what the stories say, is well worth the effort. The magnificent overlook is from 4,200 feet above sea level and allows for a view of nearly the entire span of the massive national state park. The steep cliffs which rise above Horseshoe bend come in a dazzling array of colors, thanks to all those lovely minerals.

2 - Watkins Glen State Park
This devastatingly beautiful glimpse into the splendour of Mother Nature can be found in Schuyler County New York, inside the Finger Lakes region. The centrepiece of this luxurious park of all things nature, is a 400-foot gorge, cut through the mountainous rocks by Glen Creek, which formed from melting glaciers. Rapids and waterfalls grow wild here. The rocks are mostly soft shales, with several layers of color-changing sandstone and limestone. There are three gorgeous trails to enter the cavern of the gorge, Indian Trails takes you through the forest, Gorge Trail follows closest to the stream and runs over the park's 19 waterfalls by way of stone bridges and over 800 stone steps. Finally, there is the Finger Lakes trail, an 800-mile system of outdoor bliss.

1 - Zion
This National Park can be found in Utah, it spans nearly 230 square miles and is filled with astounding formations of canyons, as well as lush forests and stunning wildlife. There are approximately 290 species of birds, 75 mammals, including 20 distinct species of bats, and 32 unique breeds of reptiles, as well as oodles and oodles of plants. The park is so immense, it's best to navigate through the four life zones, there's the desert portion, the riparian world, the woodland spaces and the coniferous forest. There are mountains to climb, canyons to explore, buttes to rest on, rivers to ride and natural arches to take your breath away. Truly a sight to behold and an entire world of outdoor beauty to explore. Zion is a definite must see!

Slovenia Vacation Travel Video Guide • Great Destinations

Travel video about destination Slovenia.
Half of Slovenia's colorful area is covered by forests, but the country also has another part, a tiny, but very nice coastal area on the Adriatic Sea, with such venetian style cities as Izola, Piran and Portoroz, as well as 2,800 meters high mountains and ski resorts.

The picturesque lakes Bled and Bohinj both lie in a wonderful landscape. The gem of the karstic area is the Postojna cave.

The tiny country has plenty of wild rivers suitable for rafting and healing waters. Golf, mountineering, diving, mountain biking and rock climbing are also warmly welcomed in Slovenia.

The Lippizan is well known all around the globe. All of this is completed by such medieval towns as Maribor, Skofja Loka and Ljubljana, and such romantic castles as the Predjama.

Offering everything from lush, tropical rain forests to bustling mega-cities, Asia is one of the world’s most varied and interesting places to retire. Most BEAUTIFUL Places in North America

For many watching this video, these places will be a stone’s throw away for you, but for others who are longing to do a spot of traveling, here are 22 reasons to hop on a plane right now! We soak in some of the most beautiful places in North America, so pack your bags and let’s go on an adventure…

Subscribe to Talltanic

9 - Stairway to heaven…
That’s the alternative name given to the Haiku Stairs of Oahu, Hawaii. At this point in time the stairway to heaven is closed to the public. Some people have chosen to ignore that though, and still make their way to the top. There are close to 4,000 stairs taking you to the top and put aside about 3-4 hours to get up and around 1-2 hours to come down. Perhaps we can make an exception just this one and bend the rules a little? It does seem worth the risk.

8 - Fill her up…
Because you and your vehicle are heading to Moraine Lake, Canada. The lake that has everyone heading to this area is found in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, and it’s elevated at around 6,200-feet! The water in Moraine Lake is a gorgeous blue, and almost stealing its thunder are the beautiful surrounding mountains and their snowy peaks.

7 - Man-made beauty…
So far, we’ve only touched on places that are natural, but there are a plethora of options of other beautiful places to visit, ones steeped in history with phenomenal tales that go with it. This is the Arlington Green Covered Bridge located just off Vermont Route 313. This bridge was built in1852 making it one of Vermont’s oldest surviving bridges. Makes you wonder who has traveled over that bridge over all these years. It’s 80-feet long with its width measuring 17.5-feet. What makes it most unusual is that nothing has been added to the bridge in recent years to strengthen it. It suffered some damage during Hurricane Irene, which was repaired and then reopened to the public.

6 - Book a one-way ticket…
Georgia is an amazing place to visit with the family, and particularly Savannah – the oldest city in Georgia. This beautiful city began in 1733 and was the first state capital of Georgia. Today the city serves as an industrial center and Atlantic seaport. Millions of visitors descend on this city every year and walk through the cobblestone streets and visit the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low. She founded Girl Scouts USA. One of the highlights is a tour of the Bonaventure Cemetery. There are beautiful sculptures, monuments and out of the world burial vaults, mix those up with moss-draped oak trees and a view of the nearby river, and you have quite the romantic yet eerie destination.

5 - Requires a little planning…
If you’re into your hiking, then this is probably on your must-hike list! The Wave is one of America’s most beautiful rock formations, and it’s located in Arizona. It’s close to the Horseshoe Bend we mentioned earlier. Only 20 people are allowed to hike on these beautiful mountains every day, and it’s done in a lucky draw type of way, although some stories suggest you can book – so maybe that’s changed. If you’re lucky enough to make the cut, share your photographs with the unlucky ones who didn’t get that once in a lifetime opportunity!

4 - Travel Lightly…
There won’t be too much space if you’re trekking through the Louisiana Atchafalaya Basin Swamp at Henderson. It’s the largest river swamp in the US and is made up of 1 million acres of hardwoods, swamps and lakes. Also known as America’s Wetland, the are is 150-miles long and 20-miles wide. Interesting to note – the basin is home to 65 species of reptiles and amphibians, plus 250 species of bird – that we know of, a huge variety of animals and the largest nesting concentration of bald eagles in the south US. 22 million-pounds of crayfish make their way from the basin to our plates every year!

3 - Take the scenic route…
Although not a specific place, it’s the view that the Beartooth highway affords the lucky traveler that is breath-taking. It’s a section of Route 212 in Montana and Wyoming connecting Red Lodge and the Northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park. You’ll reach levels of 10,947-feet above sea level, and it’s been described as “the most beautiful drive in America.”

2 - The hills are alive…
Palouse hills northeast of Walla Walla are 4,000 square miles of gorgeous rolling asymmetrical hills that connect the north of Lewiston to the end of Lake Coeur d’Alene. You would assume that rivers and streams would have created this beautiful landscape, but it is actually the result of prehistoric dust storms. One plausible theory suggests that the dust particles got trapped when they connected with the wetter grasslands. It’s also suggested that it would have taken 25,000-years to create this hilly landscape, judging from today’s wind speed. Dust storms are still extreme at Palouse, and they can reduce visibility and change the shade of the sun dramatically.

10 Best Places to Visit in Hungary.
While Hungary is famous for its goulash and paprika (which, by the way, originated in the New World), it’s known for much more than that, including world-class fine wines and its pear liqueur, an orange-colored sweet dessert treat, sometimes known as palinka.
Visitors to Hungary quickly learn it is a land of many cultures, having been ruled over by the Romans, Ottomans, Mongols, Magyars, Czechs and the Soviets. Remains of Roman fortifications can be found as can utterly spectacular buildings dating back to the Middle Ages. Hungary also is the land of the beautiful blue Danube River; no trip here would be complete without a boat ride on it. An overview of the best places to visit in Hungary:
10. Gyor
9. Hortobagy National Park
8. Debrecen
7. Heviz
6. Aggtelek National Park

Our visit Rio De Janeiro travel guide documentary, before the Olympics of 2016, covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (best restaurants and street food), top museums and Rio at night. We also cover off-the-beaten-path activities you won't find in a typical Rio De Janeiro tourism brochure or Rio De Janeiro, Brasil city tour.

25 Things to do in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil Travel Guide and Top Attractions Transcript:

First up, we started with the city’s most iconic sight: Christ Redeemer. We boarded the train as soon as the station opened and made our way to the top of Corcovado Mountain. Sometimes the statue can be shielded by fog, but we lucked out with beautiful blue skies and panoramic views of the city as far as the eye could see.

For a bit of colour, we headed over to the Selaron Steps, which is a tiled staircase created by Chilean artist, Jorge Selarón. Initially Selaron would scavenge construction sites looking for tiles, but in later years as his work gained notoriety, travellers began donating tiles.

Since we chose to stay in the neighbourhood of Ipanema, we ended up spending quite a bit of time at Ipanema Beach. We noticed that this beach was really popular for beach football, volleyball, and surfing. And of course, what makes this beach so iconic are its two mountains, known as Dois Irmãos. If you come here on a clear day, you can catch a killer sunset.

No visit to Rio de Janeiro would be complete without heading up Sugarloaf Mountain, so when the skies finally cleared that’s exactly what we did. We paid for our tickets and boarded the cable car for a somewhat unnerving ride up. If you’re scared of heights, this probably isn’t the attraction for you, however, if you manage to make it to the top you get some really cool panoramic views of Rio.

Copacabana Beach is the most famed beach in all of Rio de Janeiro and if you were to visit on a weekend during the summer months you’d find that the place is packed beyond belief. We happened to be here in winter so things were a lot more relaxed, but that didn’t stop visitors from braving the waters.

We did a favela tour to Babilônia and Chapéu Mangueira. On our tour we saw lots of street art, learned about life inside a favela.

And that is a wrap! We hope this video will give you guys some ideas of things to do in Rio de Janeiro on your visit, and for those travellers who have already been there, feel free to add your suggestion of cool activities and attractions in the comments below.

This is part of our Travel in Brazil video series showcasing Brazilian food, Brazilian culture and Brazilian cuisine.
