Our visit Ljubljana travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (Slovene, Balkan and Bosnian), top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting castles, churches, the old town, quirky neighborhoods, museums and along the river. 10 Things to do in Ljubljana, Slovenia Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Prešeren Square is a central meeting spot in the heart of the Old Town, so it made sense to start our tour of Ljubljana here. You’ll find the Franciscan Church of the Annunciation, lots of gelato shops, and the baffling bridge we just mentioned.
As for the reasoning behind the Triple Bridge and the famed dragon bridge, which is guarded by four dragons.
Ljubljana’s Central Market is another spot worth checking out.
We needed to sample some Slovenian food so we went to Allegria.
Sam ordered Zlikrofi (zhlee-krofi), a Slovenian dumpling stuffed with potato + lamb goulash along with Slovenian sausage with cabbage & potatoes.
Ljubljana Castle, which sits on Castle Hill overlooking the city. Built as a medieval fortress in the 11th century, Ljubljana Castle has seen many redesigns and renovations. Climb the Outlook Tower for 360 degree views of the city.
There are departures for cruises down the Ljubljanica. We boarded a cruise directly underneath the Love Lock Bridge, which is actually called Mesarski Most. It was our favourite activity in Ljubljana and it was a super relaxed way to watch the city.
Metelkova is home to the best street art.
One place we really enjoyed was Sarajevo 84, a restaurant specializing in Balkan cuisine. The portions massive & everything we ordered was delicious.
We had a feast featuring: grilled meat with pita and onions, baked beans and sausage, roasted peppers, and a flaky pastry stuffed with cheese. It only came to 23 Euros.
Speaking of galleries and museums, a few you’ll find include: the National Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art, and the National Museum of Slovenia.
We finished off at Tivoli, which is the largest park in Ljubljana.
And that’s it for our time in Ljubljana. Our visit was short, tasty, and relaxing, and we’re really glad we made some time to visit this underrated capital.
Now you guys know the drill; if there are any other things to do in Ljubljana that we may have missed in this travel guide, feel free to share your suggestions with fellow travellers below.
This is part of our Travel in Slovenia video series showcasing Slovenian food, Slovenian culture and Slovenian cuisine.

7 Things To Do In Slovenia, Including Slap Kozjak Waterfall, Soča River, Vintgar Gorge
We spent 5 nights in Lubljana, Slovenia, and so far its the most impressive and underrated country we have been to in all of Europe. Although we stayed in Lubljana, the capital of Slovenia, it is a rather quiet capital city and the perfect jumping off point. Every day we would drive about 1-2 hours to visit sights such as Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj, Soča River, Vintgar Gorge and the beautiful Slap Kozjak Waterfall.

7) Novo Mesto
Slovenia, officially the Republic of Slovenia (Republika Slovenija, [reˈpublika sloˈveːnija] ( listen)), is a nation state in southern Central Europe[Note 2] at the crossroads of main European cultural and trade routes. It borders Italy to the west, Austria to the north, Croatia to the south and southeast, and Hungary to the northeast. It covers 20,273 square kilometers (7,827 sq mi) and has a population of 2.05 million. It is a parliamentary republic and a member of the European Union and NATO. Its capital and largest city is Ljubljana.
Four major European geographic units meet on the territory of Slovenia: the Alps, the Dinaric Mountains, the Pannonian Plain, and the Mediterranean, with a small portion of coastline along the Adriatic Sea. The territory has a mosaic structure and an exceptionally high landscape and biological diversity, which are a result of natural attributes and the long-term presence of humans. Although the climate in the mainly hilly territory is influenced by the continental climate, the Slovene Littoral has the sub-Mediterranean climate, while the Alpine climate is found in the north-western part of the country. The country is one of the most water-rich in Europe, with a dense river network, a rich aquifer system, and significant karstic underground watercourses. Over half of the territory is covered by forest. The settlement of Slovenia is dispersed and uneven.
The Slavic, Germanic, Romance, and Hungarian languages meet here. Although the region is not homogenous, the predominant population is Slovene. Slovene is the only official language throughout the country, whereas Italian and Hungarian are regional minority languages. Slovenia is a largely secularized country, but its culture and identity have been significantly influenced by Catholicism as well as Lutheranism. The economy of Slovenia is small, open, and export-oriented and has been strongly influenced by international conditions. It has been severely hurt by the European economic crisis, started in late 2000s. The main economic field is services, followed by industry and construction.
Historically, the current territory of Slovenia was part of many different state formations, including the Roman Empire and the Holy Roman Empire, followed by the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In 1918, the Slovenes exercised self-determination for the first time by co-founding the internationally unrecognized State of Slovenes, Croats, and Serbs, which merged with the Kingdom of Serbia into the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (in 1929 renamed the Kingdom of Yugoslavia). During World War II, Slovenia was occupied and annexed by Germany, Italy, Croatia, and Hungary. Afterward, it was a founding member of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia, later renamed the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. In June 1991, after the introduction of multi-party representative democracy, Slovenia split from Yugoslavia and became an independent country. In 2004, it entered NATO and the European Union; in 2007 became the first former Communist country to join the Eurozone; and in 2010 joined the OECD, a global association of high-income developed countries. Travel In Slovenia
Travel around Slovenia with Wanderlust Chloe. The best restaurants and wineries in Slovenia in the Brda region, plus the country's most famous views including Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj and Vogel Ski Resort.
Towards the end of 2015, the Slovenian Tourist Board invited me on an incredible 5 day trip. If you read my blog Magical Adventures in Europe's Most Underrated Country, you'll know I ate and drank my way around the country, and was amazed at how beautiful it was. Totally underrated - why don't more people talk about it, I wondered?
My visit was focused on food and wine to celebrate the Brda region winning EDEN (European Destinations of Excellence award), which this time around was recognising areas for their local cuisine, gastronomy and tourism. While we spent plenty of time exploring the picturesque Brda region, I also got to see some of the country's most beautiful sights, including Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj and Vogel Ski Resort.
It's a VERY photogenic country... but I decided to go one step further and make a video of my adventures in Slovenia.
WARNING: I may be under the influence of wine, local spirits, and more in this video!
Read the blogs and check out all the photos from my trip:
Thanks to the Slovenian Tourist Board for inviting me to check out their beautiful country.

Slovenia: a travel documentary
Despite being there, a few hours drive, in Slovenia we have always passed but never stopped. This time we decided to dedicate a trip and a documentary to this country, our neighbor
Slovenia does not have big monuments or world-famous attractions, but a lot of little gems, small and perfect, not yet touched by mass tourism
This country has been able to synthesize and take the best of its most famous neighbors. In Piran, it seems to be in a district of Venice, in Prejama you wonder if we are in Transylvania, Bled is an alpine lake that might seem in Austria while Ljubljana could be the sister of Prague. We are not in Italy, Austria, Bohemia or Transylvania: we are in Slovenia, the green heart of Europe
Our itinerary has been organized like this
We arrived from Italy by car and, after passing Trieste, we stopped immediately after the border, in the small village of Pirano. Here we stayed two nights and we spent half a day to take a wonderful walk towards the salt flats of Strunjan. On the way to Ljubljana we stopped at the Postojna caves and at the magnificent Prejama tollhouse. In Ljubljana we stayed two nights. Excellent food, walks, clubs, nightlife and general relaxation characterize the Slovenian capital. From here, one hour's drive leads to Bled, an Alpine lake, an icon of Slovenia. Unfortunately we stayed only one night and the day was characterized by a summer storm. So we could not take advantage of all the sports that you can practice.
To return to Italy we crossed the Triglav chain by car and we went down along the Isonzo, to stop briefly in Caporetto, to remember the place of the bloody battle

Located in the Balkans, Croatia has become one of Europa’s top tourist destination again since its War of Independence in the late 1990s. An overview of the best places to visit in Croatia.
Maribor, Slovenia - Travel Around The World | Top best places to visit in Maribor
Top best places to visit in Maribor, Slovenia
Maribor is the second most important center and the second largest city of Slovenia.
Maribor, set amid the wine-region hills of the Pohorje Mountain, is the real Pride of Styria, a traditional region in northeastern Slovenia.
The city’s old town is situated on the left bank of the river Drava. On the Main Square is the Town Hall and... the Plague Memorial, which commemorates the “black death” that devastated the city in 1680.
The Castle Square, the core of city center, is very popular among locals, with the St Florian Statue in the middle and, built in the 15th century, the Maribor Castle.
Next to this, one of the most remarkable architectonic buildings in the city, are the National Liberation Monument and... the ‘Reddish’' Franciscan Church.
The most important sacred temple in the city, the Maribor Cathedral, a Roman Catholic church, stands on the Slomskov Square, one of the most charming places in the city. The small park is surrounded also by the Post of Slovenia, the University of Maribor and the National Theater.
Of the remnants of city walls surrounding the old town, the most prominent are:
The Judgment Tower, a fortified medieval structure.
Built to secure city walls from the direction of the river, the Water Tower.
One of the oldest preserved synagogues in Europe, and one of only two left in Slovenia, the Maribor Synagogue.
And the Old Vine House, a museum dedicated to this 450 year old tree which still gives grapes.
But the real charm of the city is hidden between the lovely streets and squares in the old town.
Despite the relative small size, Maribor has a surprisingly big green space, the Mestni Park.
And a big football arena, the Ljudski Vrt Stadium, the home ground of Maribor Football Club.
The Piramida Hill is a good place to see the city from high up, from the spot the Maribor Castle used to stand, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the whole city.
