Haiti (Things to do - Places to Visit) - HAITI Top Tourist Places
A country in the Caribbean

Haiti is a Caribbean country that shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic to its east. Though it’s still recovering from a 2010 earthquake, many of Haiti's landmarks dating to the early 19th century remain intact.

These include Citadelle la Ferrière, a mountaintop fortress, and the nearby ruins of Sans-Souci Palace, the baroque former royal home of King Henry I.

A Tourist's guide to Port-au-Prince, Haiti

With some trepidation, I fly into the Haitian capital. My guide picks up me up and then whips me through some Port-au-Prince's highlights.

Sights include the Iron Market, the voodoo statues in the Hotel Oloffson, the earthquake damaged cathedral, Place Jean-Jacques Dessalines, Place du Marron (home to some great statues), the view of the colourful hillside homes and the observatory, which offered a great view of the city.

All in all, a great trip, fuelled by a touch of apprehension and sprinkled with a dash of excitement. If you can ignore the huge amounts of trash, and the sheer amount of chaos, then Port-au-Prince might be the place for you.

Capital of Haiti

Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital city, sits on the Gulf of Gonâve. The Musée du Panthéon National Haïtien honors the nation’s history and founding fathers.

The Iron Market, a large 1891 covered bazaar, has produce and handicraft vendors. Nearby is the immense Notre Dame de l'Assomption Cathedral, reduced to a ruin by a 2010 earthquake. Colorful gingerbread-style houses from the turn of the 19th century dot the city.

Haiti beautiful places 2017 Part 1

The beauty of Haiti not shown on television. When it comes to Haiti, the international media always go to the worst area of Haiti giving the country a bad image and scaring potential tourists. Although it is true that Haiti is very poor but there are beautiful places to go, things to do or to see. The country is beautiful and has a lot of potential. I predict Haiti will be once again the pearl of the caribbean in years to come. The problem with Haiti is that it lacks a caring government and investments. Haiti has been brain drained. Most rich and professional Haitians have left Haiti. Hence the Haitian diaspora lacks caring people who are willing to come back and help the country. There are 6 smaller islands belonging to Haiti. All of them with impressive beauty and pristine beaches.

Why I Don't Like This Country ????????

While I constantly try to find the positives in every place I visit, there are few places that I just simply didn't enjoy.

The country of Brunei is one of them.

I went to Brunei back in 2014, three years before I made videos, but my negative experiences in the country have stuck in my mind ever since. That, combined with its absurd human rights laws such as stoning to death LGBT members, I was pushed to make this video.

Have you ever visited any countries that you didn't enjoy? Please share below, I'm curious to know.

Haiti Travel Video Guide

Haiti Travel Video Guide: Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere. Tourists who are unsettled by grinding poverty probably should visit elsewhere. However, for those with patience and an open mind, Haiti reveals a rich culture that is unique among post-colonial nations.

It is extremely helpful when traveling in Haiti to have a local contact, through a church, a hotel, or just through making friends with someone. Experiences like dining locally, riding on a tap-tap, or strolling through one of the insanely crowded outdoor markets are great fun and very worth doing but are much safer and easier if you have a trusted Haitian to go along as a guide and interpreter.

Enjoy your Haiti Travel Video Guide!
