10. De Palm Island Aruba
Searching for a getaway while in Aruba that offers a little bit of everything? Then you’ll want to sign up for this all-inclusive private island adventure.

9. Bushiribana Gold Mill
When explorers first stumbled on the New World, most were in search of riches, especially gold. And in 1824, those dreams of riches finally came true in Aruba when gold was discovered by a 12-year-old shepherd boy while he was herding sheep.

8. Alto Vista Chapel
Even if you’re not a Catholic, you’ll want to check out Alto Vista Chapel, which is located on a hill near the town of Noord. Officially known as “Our Lady of Alto Vista,” this was the first Catholic church in Aruba.

7. Donkey Sanctuary Aruba
Though donkeys are not native to Aruba, they did play a very important role in the country’s history. For many years, they were the main form of transportation for locals and also helped with the building of this nation.

6. California Lighthouse
This stone lighthouse, which was built between 1914 and 1916, is one of Aruba’s most well-known landmarks. It is named after the S.S. California, which was a ship that sank in 1910.

5. Antilla Wreck
The SS Antilla, which is the second largest shipwreck dive in the Caribbean, met its demise in quite the dramatic fashion. In 1940, less than one year after the ship made its maiden voyage, its own German crew set it ablaze rather than have it captured.

4. Baby Beach
Baby Beach is one of Aruba’s best-known beaches. It is a beautiful, shallow, man-made lagoon with very calm waters, making it perfect for children. Baby Beach is also popular with kite boarders and windsurfers.

3. Arikok National Park
If you’re a nature lover, then you’ll definitely want to check out Arikok National Park, which covers approximately 20 percent of the island.

2. Oranjestad
Oranjestad is the biggest city in Aruba and also its capital. It is also a popular cruise ship port. So don’t be surprised if the streets are occasionally crowded with cruise ship passengers checking out the town’s shops and restaurants.

1. Palm Beach
Palm Beach is where you can find the majority of Aruba’s high-rise resorts. This area also boasts many restaurants, casinos, bars and shops. So if you won’t be renting a car, Palm Beach would be the best place to visit in Aruba as it is very walkable.

HOW EXPENSIVE IS ARUBA? Exploring The Island

10 Things NOT to Do in Aruba

Get more Tips here!

Aruba has it all – from the constant trade winds and year-round nice weather to its pristine coastline with its sugary white sand and friendly islanders. But if your goal is to stay safe while having the time of your life, here are 10 things you shouldn’t do while visiting Aruba.

1. Don’t Worry About Paying in USD
You don’t have to worry about exchanging your USD (Visual: Exchange Office). While dining out or making any sort of transaction, you’ll be asked which currency you prefer. And, thankfully, most vendors will gladly accept American dollars.

2. Don’t Be Afraid to Drink the Water
It’s some of the cleanest H2O in the world. Thanks to their desalination process, bottled water isn’t needed, and their tap water meets the highest standards of quality by the World Health Organization..

3. Don’t Skip the Sunscreen
You’ll want to make sure you apply it each and every day while visiting Aruba. Since the island is 12 degrees north of the equator, the UV rays and solar radiation is strong. Even when it’s cloudy outside, play it safe and lather up!

4. Don’t Expect to See Street Signs
Street signs are sometimes nonexistent or hidden. Motorcycles and ATVs don’t follow traffic rules, so be on high alert. Also, in the rural parts of the island, you’ll want to watch out for goats and other animals that tend to cross the roads unexpectedly.

5. Don’t Travel to the San Nicolas District at Night
Many tourists head out to this area to get away from the hustle and bustle of the busy resort areas of Palm Beach. While you’ll find the beach to be idyllic, after nightfall there is an increased risk of crime, including petty theft.

6. Don’t Take a Taxi Without Negotiating
Since they aren’t equipped with meters (Visual: Taximeter), drivers will base the cost on the destination rather than the amount of mileage. To avoid any kind of confusion, ask for the total price upfront.

7. Don’t Forget Insect Repellent
This climate has an increased risk of mosquito-borne illnesses, such as chikungunya and dengue fever, and also Zika virus, so pregnant women should really take caution. To combat the risk of being infected, insect repellent is highly recommended.

8. Don’t Go to Chain Restaurants (Visual: Hard Rock Cafe)

Aruba has some of the tastiest locally caught fish, and you can enjoy a moderately priced meal at some of the island’s most popular restaurants, including the Italian eatery Casa Tua and delicious BBQ at Smokey Joe’s Island Grill.

9. Don’t Book a Jeep Tour

Many travelers suggest you skip out on booking one entirely. Instead, you can rent your own open-air jeep for as little as $80, and it can comfortably seat up to 4 people. You can act as your own tour guide as you explore the pristine island.

10. Don’t Rent a Car Without Learning the Rules of the Road
Right turns are prohibited at red lights, and U-turns are often restricted. Seat belts are always required, of course, and children under the age of 5 must ride in a child safety seat. Aside from that, make sure to have fun and enjoy your stay at this tropical paradise!

Thanks for watching my Top 10 Best Tropical Islands video!

The list of the best islands to visit for vacations and honeymoons.

1. Maldives. Maldives is an island located in the Indian Ocean, and is a good way to kick off this list. Made up of more than 1000 coral islands, Maldives is known for blue lagoons and elegant reefs. Maldives is home to many tiki huts over clear waters, along with excellent resorts. So many beaches look completely natural and untouched, and the place itself looks like a potential heaven on earth. It’s a fantastic spot to relax while the sun sets.
2. Bora Bora. Bora bora is a tropical island located in South Pacific. Bora bora is a mountainous set of islands with wonderful blue waters. This is another island that has popularized tiki huts over the water. The shallow clear waters are great spots for kayaking and paddle boarding through. There are many opportunities to snorkel with fish and turtles, and this tropical location is a great life getaway.
3. Aruba. Aruba is an island located in the Caribbean, is great way to kick off this list. Home to baby blue waters, white sandy beaches, and pink flamingos. Here you can go snorkeling or rest on a beach beneath the palm trees. Walk through the soft white sand while drinking a nice refreshing beverage. A mix of Aruban culture, delicious food, and easy transportation gives Aruba a spot on this list as a tropical escape.
4. Turks and Caicos. A British overseas territory southeast of the Bahamas, these Islands are magnificent. Go on a wonderful snorkeling adventure or sightseeing tour through the warm Caribbean. Take a catamaran cruise or go parasailing hundreds of feet in the air. Take 4-wheelers through the sand! There’s so much to do here. If none of that sounds interesting to you, you won’t be disappointed relaxing on the soft beaches of Turks and Caicos.
5. Seychelles, An east African country located in the Indian Ocean, is a great island to visit. From beautiful ridged rock shores, to flat white sandy beaches, you will get mesmerized while watching the waves come in from the ocean. Honestly, the mix of boulders and gorgeous sand along the shores is something we haven’t seen much of in the previous islands. It gives the island an uninhabited feel, and makes you feel like you’ve escaped the real world. The vegetation and wildlife of the area will not disappoint you, and there’s so much you can do here similar to activities previously mentioned such as fishing, snorkeling, and hiking.
6. Fiji, famous for it’s overpriced water, is another island located in the South Pacific. A very popularized honeymoon spot, it’s gained popularity for good reason. There are several cruises you can go on around the area, along with a river rafting adventure! Take a dive in a mud pool, or zipline through the tropical trees. Snorkel in many areas around the islands, and experience Fiji’s rich culture! Fiji is a great adventure for all who visit, and is one more example of Heaven on Earth.
7. Curacao, an Island located off the coast of Venezuela, is a fantastic place visit in the Caribbean Sea. Curacao is a very colorful, festive, and cultural island and offers an experience like no other. Curacao has multiple beach coves, along with fantastic island views. If you can find access to these more secluded beaches, I really like Curacao. I would say this is one of the more commercialized islands on the list, but it still has plenty of natural beauty. There are plenty of activities to do outdoors, in the water, and in the city areas.
8. Martinique. A French based island located in the Caribbean, is a mountainous island with great natural beauty. Full of clean beaches, palm trees, and stunning cliffsides this place is a wonder. Explore gardens and venture on catamaran trips showing off the cliffsides of the island.
9. U.S. British Virgin Islands. I love these islands because there are so many parts of them that are relatively untouched. The beaches are clean and clear, and the water is stunning. There are many high-quality hotels and resorts along the beaches, and there are many places with cool mixes of boulders and water. Visit the baths, the bays, the coves, and Devil’s Bay National Park and you won’t regret it. The Bubbly pool and Dolphin Discovery Tortola are also amazing visits.
10. Boracay, located in the Philippians, is the only island featured on this list in Asia.

Beautiful Aruba is part of the so-called ABC islands, which include Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. These three islands lie south of the hurricane belt — the area in the Atlantic Ocean that is most likely to be struck by these destructive storms. This has made Aruba an especially popular choice for those wanting to vacation in the Caribbean during the summer and fall months. Aruba’s weather also tends to be less humid than a majority of the other islands in the Caribbean.

Best Times to Visit Aruba on Vacation

Discover the best times to visit Aruba on vacation. See the average rainfall and temperatures for each month of the year.

More tips:

Aruba weather is so good that almost anytime of year is a good time to go to this southern Caribbean island.

Many vacationers try to avoid the Caribbean's annual hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to November 30. The island of Aruba, located 15 miles off the coast of Venezuela, is located just south of the hurricane belt. That means the island escapes most -- but not all -- of the worst weather.

It is one of the reasons why the island has one of the highest average return visits among the top Caribbean destinations -- along with its beautiful beaches, fine dining and numerous snorkeling and scuba diving spots.

The average monthly high temperature is nearly 89 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the Meteorological Service of Netherland Antilles and Aruba. That makes Aruba one of the warmest destinations in the Caribbean. The average monthly low temperature is 78 degrees.

Rainfall is exceptionally low on Aruba -- only 16 inches in total for the year and less than 1.4 inches per month. A large part of that rain is in the fall.

Caribbean weather is known for its warmth, but the island is warmer than most because of its closer location to the equator than most of the islands. That warmth is one reason why the island has a high number of visitors during the winter months of December through February.

Aruba weather in August and September delivers average high monthly temperatures above 90 degrees. It drops only to 86 degrees in January and February.

Rain totals about 2.5 inches in October and December and exceeds three inches in November. But the average rain is still well below most other Caribbean destinations, some of which receive as much as 10 inches a month in September and October.

Anyone wanting to get ideal conditions will find that Aruba weather in January through July will provide the best odds for a comfortable visit. The higher temperatures in August and September will make shopping, hiking and other outdoor activities more uncomfortable.

Weather in October, November and December is less than ideal because of higher rainfall and the rare possibility of a hurricane or tropical storm. But the risk of a hurricane is low enough and the rainfall is moderate enough compared to the rest of the Caribbean that vacationers will still face favorable odds with the weather.

The best time to go ranges from late winter though late summer.

- Scott S. Bateman
