Tourist attractions in Dominica Island
Dominica is an island republic. The capital, Roseau, is located on the leeward side of the island. Dominica has been nicknamed the Nature Isle of the Caribbean for its natural environment.
It is the youngest island in the Lesser Antilles, and in fact it is still being formed by geothermal-volcanic activity, as evidenced by the world's second-largest hot spring, called Boiling Lake.
The island has lush mountainous rainforests, and it is the home of many rare plants, animals, and bird species.

A Tourist's Guide to Dominica
Dominica: Country number 8 of 10 on my Caribbean island hop by plane.
This time I fly into Dominica: the Nature Isle. I see the capital, Roseau, and then take a drive to the north, seeing some of the destruction caused by Hurricane Erica, a year on.
Untouched Caribbean Island. Can't Believe This Exists 😲 Explore Dominica in the Caribbean 🇩🇲
In this video we spend a few days exploring the untouched and not overly well known Caribbean island of Dominica! Dominica is known as the nature island, with lots of waterfalls and rivers (365, one for every day of the year!).
We start things off with a quick tour of our hotel, where we are staying in the penthouse. This hotel is an adventure hotel and a great place to stay if you’re looking to plan lots of fun adventures around the island during your stay. You can find more about it here:
After setting off from the hotel to explore the island, and getting over a bit of motion sickness (the roads are very windy and even those that aren’t use to motion sickness can be affected, some prepared), we stop at the Emerald Pool. It’s about a 10 minute easy hike to get there and once you arrive you’ll encounter a lovely waterfall where you can also swim. This is definitely the place where we encountered more tourists than anywhere else!
Next up we had the most beautiful canoe ride through Indian River (a scene from Pirate’s of the Caribbean was filmed here), where we encountered loads of different types of birds, crabs and wildlife. Unfortunately it got dark very quickly and we had to stop filming.
We picked things up the next day at Morne Bruce where we had a great view overlooking the main city in Dominica, Roseau. We also make a stop at the botanical gardens to see a bus that was flattened by a tree many years ago in a hurricane and is now referred to as David and Goliath. We then spend a little bit of time exploring Roseau.
Later we make our way to a lake high up in the mountains, called Freshwater Lake where we fly the drone to get a better view.
Lastly we head to Trafalgar water falls to view the two side by side waterfalls affectionally known and mama and papa.
ABOUT DOMINICA 🇩🇲

THE BEST THINGS TO DO IN DOMINICA
Dominica is fast becoming my favourite country in the Caribbean. Unlike a lot of other islands around with beautiful pristine beaches and packed holiday resorts, Dominica is a million miles away from that.
It’s this wild, rugged island that looks straight out of Jurassic Park. Honestly, everywhere you look is just so lush and green. I guess that’s why it’s known as “the nature island of the Caribbean”.
Well, if you’re wondering what to do in Dominica then you’ve come to the right place. Check out my video to see the best things to do in Dominica!

10 Best Destinations to Visit in Djibouti
Batibou Beach, Dominica
My favorite beach in Dominica! Filming location of Pirates of the Caribbean.
We call it Dominica
No, it’s not the Dominican Republic; welcome to Dominica, the nature island!
Dominica is situated between Guadeloupe and Martinique in the Caribbean, and is 300 square miles of paradise. With the highest concentration of dormant volcanoes in the world, there’s an endless supply of hot springs and warm streams and even warm bubbles caressing you from the ocean floor. Two-thirds of the island is covered in tropical rainforest, resulting in the lushest landscapes and most magnificent canyons and waterfalls you’ll ever see.
There were so many highlights on our trip to Dominica, but the main ones we featured in this video were the hike to Boiling Lake in the UNESCO-listed Morne Trois Pitons National Park and seeing sperm whales in the open ocean—Earth’s largest toothed predator—right up close. What set Dominica apart from everywhere else is that you’ll have these spectacular beaches, waterfalls, hot springs, and natural wonders all to yourself. And last but definitely not least, you’ll get to meet some of the kindest and most warmhearted people on the planet!

Discover The Nature Island of Dominica : Travel Vlog
Dominica defies the Caribbean cliché on many levels. No mass tourism, no white powdery beaches, no rum-fueled pool parties. Nicknamed ‘nature island’ for a reason, the island lures largely individualists and ecoadventurers with its Boiling Lake, Champagne Reef, rainforest-shrouded volcano, sulfurous hot springs, superb diving and the Caribbean's first long-distance hiking trail.
Mother Nature may have been especially generous with Dominica, but it also deals it the occasional hardship in the form of hurricanes and tropical storms. Most recently, in August 2015, Tropical Storm Erika wreaked major havoc from which the island is still recovering.

Dominica Travel Video Guide
Dominica Travel Video Guide - Whether you're into trekking high into the mountaintops or exploring the watery world below, Dominica is the place to go for those who prefer hiking boots over high heels and are content with a nightlife where the only music is the murmur of the jungle.
Dominica has surprisingly long drives for such a small island, so it's better to pick a spot or two and explore instead of bouncing around. If you can do it in the mountains (hiking, bird-watching, searching for hidden pools and waterfalls) or the water (diving, snorkeling, kayaking), you can do it in your Dominica Travel Adventure. Don't miss the ancient forests of the Morne Trois Pitons National Park, home to the otherworldly Boiling Lake and the spectacular Trafalgar Falls.Ju

5 Must-Do Activities in Guadeloupe
Guadeloupe is one of the Caribbean’s under-the-radar destinations, set between Dominica and Antigua in the Leeward Islands of the Lesser Antilles. In-the-know visitors come to enjoy it’s sailing culture, quiet beaches, French Caribbean cuisine and Creole heritage. There is much more to uncover as well. What follows are five things everyone should do when visiting Guadeloupe—the “Pearl of the French Caribbean.”
1. Attend a Cultural Festival
Guadeloupe has a colorful history, a mélange of cultures and customs.
The best way to celebrate its storied past is to time your visit with a cultural festival, such as Fête des Cuisinieres.
Each August, female chefs take to the streets in festive aprons and madras headscarves in celebration of St. Lawrence, the patron saint of cooks. They sing traditional songs, ring dinner bells and spread the love, by sharing their home cooking with newfound friends.
2. Go Rum Tasting
Guadeloupians are serious about rum, so make a point to head to one of its nine distilleries for a tasting and a tour. We chose Domaine de Bellevue on Marie Galant to sample the islands famous Planteurs punch, rum creme and oak barrel-aged rums. My favorite was the Coconut Punch rum, which combined the creaminess of a crème liquor (like Bailey’s Irish Crème) with the boldness of coconut. Rum tastings are offered every day and are free to visitors.
3. Try Creole Delicacies
Come hungry because the Creole food in Guadeloupe is outstanding. One of my favorite dishes, called a bokit, just tastes better when ordered from a food truck. This fried-bread sandwich includes the protein of your choice (conch, ham, grilled fish), a fried egg, tons of cheese and a spicy mayonnaise to tie all of the flavors together.
There are a lot of things you should do when you visit the scenic archipelago of Les Saintes, and trying a tourment d’amour should be one of them. The pastry— filled with coconut, guava or banana—is baked fresh daily and available at the ferry docks. Just look for women carting around large, decorative baskets.
No trip to Guadeloupe would be complete without sampling the region’s signature appetizer, cod fritters with homemade dog sauce. Most restaurants will serve a version of this garlicy, fried dish, and it’s perfect for sharing with friends (who don’t mind if your breath stinks afterward). You can find the recipe and a how-to video here:
4. Visit a Coffee Plantation
Not a lot of people know that Guadeloupe is the oldest coffee-growing region in the Americas—its roots tracing back to 1726, when the first Arabica Typica coffee seeds were introduced. At Habitation La Grivelière, coffee is painstakingly made the traditional way, which will give you a new appreciation for each and every cup.
5. Photograph Pointe des Chateaux
The Atlantic Ocean collides with the Caribbean Sea at Pointe des Chateaux, and you’re going to want to bring your camera to capture its rugged beauty. These are the same sights that drew in Christopher Columbus in 1493, and now it’s your turn to discover them.
