Aachen is a spa city near Germany’s borders with Belgium and the Netherlands. Aachen Cathedral was founded around 800 A.D. and a Gothic chancel was added later.
Its Domschatzkammer (treasury) has medieval artifacts including the shrine of Charlemagne, who was buried here in 814 A.D. Nearby is the baroque town hall, Aachener Rathaus, with 19th-century frescoes. Sulfurous water fills the fountains of Elisenbrunnen.

Aachen in 5 minutes ???? Aachen Cathedral, Printen & Tri-border area
Aachen is one of our top 10 cities in Germany and worth a visit. Aachen Cathedral is world-famous. And so are the tasty Printen. Aachen is located at the border triangle of Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Because of this location, you can feel Europe everywhere you go. We are theTravellers and show you Aachen in 5 minutes.
We start our Aachen tour at the city hall. It's worth taking a look inside. We continue to the Centre Charlemange city museum. On the way through the old town we eat some Printen. We pass the Elisenbrunnen - another landmark of Aachen. A little further out of town is the Lousberg. From here you have a view of the city from above.
If you're in Aachen for the weekend or even longer, e.g. for ERASMUS at rwth Aachen, it's worth taking a day trip to Monschau and the border triangle.

Today's tour is in Aachen city, Germany. It is the westernmost city in Germany, and borders Belgium and the Netherlands to the west, the triborder area. It is located between Maastricht (NL) and Liège (BE) in the west, and Bonn and Cologne[b] in the east. The Wurm River flows through the city, and together with Mönchengladbach. Aachen is well known for being home to the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in Germany - Aachen Cathedral.
In today's tour, we will walk through the city, passing it's most beautiful streets, buildings, churches, monuments and squares, stroll through its narrow, winding lanes, and enjoy the flair of the westernmost major city in Germany. Aachen has been around for millennia. The Romans nursed their war wounds and stiff joints in the steaming waters of its mineral springs, but it was Charlemagne who put the city firmly on the European map. The emperor, too, enjoyed a dip now and then, but it was more for strategic reasons that he made Aachen the geographical and political capital of his vast Frankish Empire in 974 – arguably the first empire with European dimensions.

Wildpark Schmidt - Rundgang im Sommer 2020 - Tierpark Schmidt Nideggen Eifel - Wildlife Park
Im Sommer besuchten wir den Wildpark in Schmidt in der Eifel.
Der Park hatte durch schwere Sturmschäden zu leiden und kämpft nun auch noch gegen den Corona Lockdown an, durch einen Besuch unterstützt Ihr den Park bei seinem Wiederaufbau.
Bei unserem Besuch hatten wir noch ein paar Einschränkungen durch den Sturm und natürlich durch die Regeln der Corona Pandemie, wir finden aber, dass der Park sich alle Mühe gibt um den Besuchern das Bestmögliche zu bieten.
Natürlich werden wir den Park auch im Sommer 2021 wieder besuchen um die Fortschritte zu sehen.
