Yosemite National Park Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia

Yosemite – an American story unlike any other. Follow us through the national park from its high country to its waterfalls, its towering sequoia groves to its valley meadows.

When ready, browse vacation packages to Yosemite National Park:

#YosemiteNationalPark sits on the western slopes of California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains. Most visitors spend their #vacation in Yosemite Valley, which despite being only 7 miles long and 1 mile wide, packs in more jaw-dropping scenery than just about any other place on Earth.

#Visit Tunnel View and stand before a panorama that’s reduced generations of visitors to silence. The Yosemite Valley ring road follows the banks of the Merced River, which shifts in character as it thunders from the valley walls, before gently winding across the valley floor. The ring road is dotted with trailheads that lead to 800 miles of hiking trails.

Drive along Tioga Road, one of the USA’s most scenic highways. Fill your lungs with alpine air at Olmsted Point, refresh yourself by the waters of Tenaya Lake, then spend the day at Tuolumne Meadow, the traditional summer hunting grounds of the Ahwaneechee.

For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Yosemite National Park - located in California - is one of the most spectacular and important National Parks in the country. That being said, it's also one of the busiest so planning ahead and having as much knowledge as possible will make your experience all the better. And, that is why I created this video.

In the video, I show you how to get to the park, how to get around, where to stay (hotels, cabins and camping), where to eat, where to get coffee, what to do (the list is long!), the wildlife and some tips when exploring the park.

Yosemite National Park, located in California's Sierra Nevada Mountains, is a renowned travel destination that captivates visitors with its breathtaking natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and countless outdoor recreational opportunities. Spanning over 1,200 square miles, Yosemite offers an unforgettable experience that attracts millions of travelers from around the world each year.

One of the main draws of Yosemite is its iconic granite cliffs, including the famous El Capitan and Half Dome. These colossal rock formations provide a stunning backdrop for hikers, climbers, and photographers alike. The park's extensive trail network caters to all levels of fitness and offers breathtaking vistas of waterfalls, meadows, and ancient sequoia groves. Whether you're embarking on a leisurely stroll through the valley or embarking on a multi-day backpacking adventure, Yosemite has something for everyone.

Yosemite's waterfalls are another highlight that contributes to its allure. From the awe-inspiring Yosemite Falls, which is one of the tallest waterfalls in North America, to the ethereal Bridalveil Fall, visitors are treated to an awe-inspiring display of nature's power and beauty. The park's diverse ecosystems provide a habitat for a wide range of wildlife, including black bears, mule deer, coyotes, and countless bird species. Wildlife enthusiasts will relish the opportunity to observe these creatures in their natural environment.

In addition to its natural wonders, Yosemite offers a plethora of recreational activities to engage in. Rock climbing enthusiasts flock to the park for its challenging granite faces and world-class climbing routes. Rafting down the Merced River provides a thrilling adventure, while fishing in the park's lakes and streams is a peaceful pastime. During winter, Yosemite transforms into a winter wonderland, offering opportunities for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowboarding.

Yosemite's rich history and cultural heritage also add to its allure. The park has been inhabited by Native Americans for thousands of years, and visitors can learn about their traditions and customs at the Yosemite Valley Indian Cultural Museum. The historic Ahwahnee Hotel, with its distinctive architecture, is a must-visit for history buffs.

Accommodation options in Yosemite cater to a range of preferences, from luxurious hotels and lodges to campgrounds for those seeking a more rustic experience.

Top Things Must See and Do in Yosemite National Park | TRAVEL GUIDE | HOW TO EXPLORE YOSEMITE

In this video, we are going to share with you a Yosemite National Park Travel plan that would be perfect for a 1-day visit. These recommendations are based on our frequent visits to these parks. We live just 2 hours from Yosemite, and we have hiked tons of trails here, but for today's video, we are only sharing the easy, short, and accessible things you can do in Yosemite if you only have a day or two to spend in the park.

Video Chapters:
00:00 Intro
00:26 Reminders Before You Visit Yosemite
01:43 Yosemite South Entrance Gate
01:54 Wawona Tunnel and Tunnel View
03:13 Bridalveil Fall
03:47 Yosemite Valley Scenic Drive
03:57 Finding a parking spot in Yosemite
04:50 Lower Yosemite Falls
06:01 Exploring Yosemite Valley
07:28 Happy Isles, Mist Trail, Vernal and Nevada Falls
08:22 Exploring Yosemite Village
09:23 El Capitan Meadow
09:54 Exploring Valley View
10:24 Exploring Glacier Point
11:44 Ending

But before we start, here are some reminders before you go.
1.) The entrance fee is $35.00 per vehicle, $30.00 for motorcycles, and $20.00 if by foot or on a bike.

2.) Due to covid, a reservation is required to enter Yosemite between May 20 to September 30 of 2022. They will make you turn around if you don't have a reservation.

Get your Yosemite reservations here:

Don't worry, you can still visit the park without a reservation, BUT you must arrive at an entrance station (except Hetch Hetchy) before 6 am or after 4 pm. This could change after covid, so make sure to check updates before going.

3.) We highly recommend using the free shuttle to get around Yosemite Valley. Parking fills throughout Yosemite by mid-morning. So, come early, find a parking space, and plan to leave your vehicle there for the remainder of the day as you will likely have a hard time finding another parking spot.

4.) Make sure to wear shoes with good support and can withstand lots of walking around Yosemite Valley. There are over 750 miles of trails to explore, so your shoes need to be up to the challenge.

5.) Phone signals are in and out, so make sure to download all the details that you need to get around, including maps and itineraries.

6.) Bring snacks and lots of water. Keep yourself hydrated at all times.

7.) And most of all, enjoy your visit. Start early, and make sure to check for road updates before going as road closures can happen.

This travel plan starts from the South Entrance along Highway 41. This will be your closest entrance if you are coming from Los Angeles or the San Diego area.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment down below. Thank you again for watching our video. God bless.

Best regards,
Daniel and Maria

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO TO YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK

Today, we share the things to know before you go to Yosemite National Park including: when to visit Yosemite, Yosemite need to know tips and where to stay in Yosemite National Park. We also look at driving in Yosemite National Park as part of these things to know before you go to Yosemite as well as planning a trip to Yosemite and tips for visiting Yosemite National Park in this Yosemite Travel Guide.

1. Plan in advance

As always, we encourage you to plan your national park trip ad far in advance as possible, especially at the moment. Yosemite is no different, so you will want to plan your trip and book your lodge as far in advance as possible.

2. Where to stay in Yosemite National Park

Which brings us on to our next trip, compare the lodges carefully. You can choose between hotels, cabin rentals and tent villages inside the park itself but these do book up quickly so ai to book 5 months in advance. Ahwahnee Hotel is a popular option for couples whilst Yosemite Valley Lodge offers large family rooms for those travelling with children. Evergreen Lodge is a rustic mountain resort that is perfect for couples but you will need a car.

3. When to visit Yosemite National Park

The summer in Yosemite is incredibly busy but also hot and humid. Visiting from October through to March brings a different colour to Yosemite, with blankets of snow, warm orange tones and much less people.

4. Explore to late

When planning your trip, plan to have a lay in then explore late. Early morning is not a good idea in the park unless you want to take sunrise photographs. Unfortunately, so doe everyone else, so there is a rush of early risers and photographers in the early morning. Instead, get plenty of sleep, have a late breakfast then get exploring so that you can enjoy the sunset whilst day trippers are leaving.

5. Driving in Yosemite National Park

So you may need to drive to the national park itself, but once you have parked at your hotel, avoid driving around to the different sights; parking and traffic can be a nightmare. Instead, use the free shuttles that circulate the park or take the public bus that travels highway 120 and 140.

6. Fill up before

If you do decide to drive, fill up your car way before you read the park; prices are much more expensive at the stations inside the park. It is also worth noting that entry fees for 1 vehicle is $35.

7. Don’t expect to use your phone

Although the national park has many modern conveniences and most of the lodges will offer wi-fi, don’t expect to be able to use your phone around the park itself. Signal isn’t great and is often nonexistent in certain areas of the park.

For serious hikers, try the Upper Yosemite Falls Trail, the half dome trail or the four mile trail whilst those looking for shorter, gentle walks, take the Lower Yosemite Falls Trail which is paved or the Bridalveil Fall Trail.

8. Keep hiking

Because of Yosemite popularity, the hiking trailings can be busy. However, the crowds disperse the higher or farther you go; so get comfortable hiking shoes on and keep walking to get clearer views and fewer crowds.

9. Visit the best sights

Yosemite is beautiful but there are certain areas you can’t miss! Visit Tunnel View for an easy, accessible panoramic viewpoint then head down the road to Bridalveil Fall. Head to Yosemite Falls, the tallest waterfall in North America but also get great views from Cook’s Meadow.

10. Where to eat in Yosemite National Park

And lastly, let’s look at where to eat in Yosemite. Of course you can bring a picnic or snacks if you want to eat on the move but there are also some great dining options too. Try the Yosemite Valley Lodge Food Court for casual meals or the Mountain Room for sit-down dining.

00:00 INTRO
00:40 PLAN IN ADVANCE
01:00 CHOOSE ACCOMMODATION
01:42 VISIT IN THE FALL OR WINTER
02:00 EXPLORE LATE
02:40 DON'T DRIVE

When ready, browse vacation packages to Yellowstone National Park:

#Yellowstone has long remained in the American imagination as a land little touched by humanity. From the steaming power of erupting geysers, to the thundering might of the Yellowstone River, this magnificent landscape is testament to the power and beauty of Mother Nature.

When European explorers first ventured into these enchanting lands, they returned with stories which most people dismissed as hallucinations. Since then, it has become one of America’s ultimate #adventure #vacation destinations and provides a home for the largest remaining herd of wild bison on the planet. Welcome to Yellowstone, the grandfather of all national parks.

We hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

One Day Itinerary | Yosemite National Park

A look at what I recommend to do with one day in Yosemite National Park, USA. Please note this trip is during the 3rd week of August. Less mosquitos than in the spring but also less water in the falls and very very hot. From what I've heard early July is the best (weather wise and waterfall wise) but also the most crowded time to go. If you don't plan on doing extensive hiking into the high country May could be a lovely time to visit. It's the worst time for mosquitos but supposedly that's mostly in the high country when on long hikes. The Valley itself may not be so bad, but please do a little extra research on that ;) May would be when the waterfalls would be at their most full and powerful as well so it would be stunning and the Valley would be really lush.

Begin by driving in and stopping at Tunnel View. Park in the valley and hike Bridalveil Falls and Yosemite Falls then head back to your car and drive to the Yosemite Valley Lodge. You can park for free in their parking lot and rent bikes onsite. Then bike around the The Cook's Meadow Loop Trail, Mirror Lake, Yosemite Loop Trail. Then return the bikes and drive to Glacier Point. If you have at least 3 hours of daylight and energy left, drive to Mariposa Grove (which is on your way back out of the park). You have to do a 45min (easy, a few hills but nothing major) hike through the forest from the parking lot to the Mariposa Trees and you'll spend about an hour among the trees. So again you need to have at least these 3 hours left of daylight!
