Is Lusaka Africa’s most underrated city trip? | ???????? Zambia Part 1

Planning a trip to Zambia? You should NOT skip the capital, Lusaka!

In my opinion, Lusaka may well be the most underrated city trip in Africa: whether it’s culture and history, the bustling nightlife or the variety of café and restaurants - including the delicious traditional buffet, matebeto.

My friends and I spent a weekend (3 days) in Lusaka in October 2022. We were so happy not to have discounted the capital. So many people fly directly to Livingstone to see Mosi-oa-Tunya (Victoria Falls).

Stay tuned for part 2 of my Zambia series where we’ll explore Livingstone (aka Chuma & Susi town), the mighty Zambezi River, Mosi-oa-Tunya and Devil’s Pool - all part of another epic @africanbushcamps adventure.

10 Awesome Things to Do in ZAMBIA

The country of Zambia in the southern region of Africa is the perfect destination for nature lovers. If you want to venture off to a place that has everything, from a rich history to friendly villagers and diverse wildlife, Zambia has you covered. Here are 10 things to Do in Zambia.

1. Visit Victoria Falls
Mosi-oa-Tunya, also known as Victoria Falls, is a stunning waterfall that’s located on the Zambia/Zimbabwe border. It is one of the largest waterfalls in the world with over 500 million liters of water.

2. Take a Walking Safari
South Luangwa is the birthplace of the walking tours and the one place where you’ll be most likely to come in contact with a lion. When the tour is finished, grab and tent and enjoy some restful and peaceful sleep in the middle of the wilderness.

3. Visit a Traditional Village
Zambia has over 73 tribes. And, a tour of the Kawaza Village near South Luangwa includes helping the villagers to harvest crops and draw water from their wells before enjoying a traditional feast. ,

4. Volunteer at the Lion Conservation
This center is home to a number of lions that have been orphaned, abandoned, or abused. The sanctuary allows visitors to take care of them, prepare their meals, feed them, clean their enclosures, and assist them with veterinary care.

5. Go on a Game Drive
Along the Luangwa River, jeep tours will get you up close and personal to some of Zambia’s dazzling wildlife. On these game drives, the vehicles make it easier to get closer to a higher density of animals.

6. Visit Chobe National Park
It's along the border of Zambia. Guided tours are available via vehicle. Open-air trucks will take you to the park’s river where you can witness elephants swimming, playing, and bathing together, or you can book a boat ride through the park.

7. Enjoy High Tea
Enjoy high tea with an amazing view at the luxurious Royal Livingstone Hotel. This five-star accommodation overlooks the Zambezi river where hippopotamuses and zebras frequently graze in the distance.

8. Canoe Ride in Lower Zambezi National Park
This Park is known for its fish eagles, elephants, and buffalo, but it’s also a great spot to go for a relaxing canoe ride. The river is lined with fig trees and if you’re lucky, you might even see a leopard taking a drink on the edge of the river as you paddle by!

9. Swim in Devil’s Pool
During the dry season, the levels of the Zambezi River drop low enough for you to walk to the lip of the falls. Fearless travelers get pushed to the edge by the force of the river, but the rock lip prevents them from going over the edge.

10. View Rare Species in Bangweulu Wetlands
If you really want to take pictures that will amaze all of your friends and family back home, you’ll definitely want to head out to the Bangweulu Wetlands. This community-owned wetland has over 433 different bird species, including the rare shoebill.

IS LUSAKA WORTH VISITING? - Exploring Zambia's Bustling Capital City! | ???????? ????????

Welcome to Zambia's Capital!

My first day in Zambia took me around the small capital city of Lusaka. This city is by no means a hot tourist destination, but an ever-so-ordinary concrete jungle which is usually visited out of necessity, not choice. That said, I enjoyed my one day visit to this city, wandering its boulevards, meeting the locals, and enjoying access to shopping centers and developed-world amenities before beginning my train journey to Tanzania!

Standing at the Edge of a Waterfall in Africa | Travel Vlog

On the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe lies Victoria Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in the world. In a tiny section of the waterfall's edge, there's a small dent in the rock formation that allows you to stand on the edge of falls. This is called Devil's Pool. Although it may seem scary, it's actually really safe. In this video, I visit Devils Pool and stand on the edge of the world famous falls. If you're planning a trip to or within the continent of Africa and you're looking for adventure or beautiful scenery, I highly recommend visiting Devil's Pool. It has one of the most beautiful views I've experienced in all of my travels.
