Dawei Travel Video
Dawei is a town in the southern part of Myanmar. A beautiful town with a lot of heritage buildings beyond the mountains and the beach. Maungmagan Beach is a nearby beach which is 30mins drive from Dawei.
I didn't have much time to travel around and shoot videos. I went there for a job trip. So that I took several clips within a tight travel time.

On Tuesday the 21st of February, my partner and I hitchhiked from Mawlamyine (the fourth-largest city of Myanmar*) to Dawei via the National Highway 8. We made it easy for ourselves and first got a tuk-tuk to the nearest tollgate. From there, we completed the 301-kilometer long journey in one ride with two young men from Mandalay. It was a great experience!

*Some people only know Myanmar as Burma. But they don't use this name anymore. Mawlamyine used to be called Moulmein and Dawei was once Tavoy. It's all very confusing.

This place has nos words to be described. Being there is incredible. And not being there, specially from the drone view can appreciate the drawings made by the interaction of the tides of the Andaman sea, the sandbanks and a Lagoon in a complex nature stage.

Having been based in Thailand the past 7 years with Myanmar as a direct neighbour hadn’t diminished my own curiosity about visiting ‘one day’.
Myanmar had of course been closed off to tourism for many years, and has certainly gone through a fair amount of unrest since it’s independence from British Rule in 1948.
These decades of isolation certainly gives you a feeling that it holds many wonders that are waiting to be discovered.
Rumours of spectacular dive locations teeming with marine life – all without the throngs of lifejacket clad daytripping snorkelers. It seemed too good to be true.
So you can imagine that when we got the invitation to visit one of these very islands, we had zero hesitation!

Myanmar Burma - Hidden Tizit Beach near Dawei // In Southern Myanmar we found a secret beach on the Dawei Peninsula. We unexpectedly had to cross the water first to get to the hidden beach, were we only found a fishermen village. This was really off the beaten track. One of the best Myanmar experiences.

If you are traveling Myanmar, this is an absolute must-go to. The beaches are as great and the people way friendlier. Ngapali Beach is a top-notch beach, stretching over 10 km of white sand and crystal-clear blue water.
