In Albania, visitors are welcomed as guests as part of the country's rich cultural traditions and heritage. The warm hospitality of the Albanians, known worldwide, will make every traveler feel at home in this small wonderful land. There are many clean and pristine beaches, spectacular mountains, scenic river valleys, and many other natural surprises for visitors. Several of country's main cities are situated along the pristine seashores of the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. An important gateway to the Balkan Peninsula, Albania's ever-growing road network provides juncture to reach its neighbors in north south, east, and west. Albania is within close proximity to all the major European capitals with short two or three hour flights that are available daily. Tourists can see and experience Albania's ancient past and traditional culture.

The Albanian language is one of the oldest living languages in the world. Throughout the country there are newly discovered and exciting archaeological sites, preserved Illyrian and medieval castles, as well as Byzantine churches and monasteries which containa rich collection of frescoes and icons. Albanian cuisine offers a truly unique blend of Mediterranean flavors. East meets West in many discernable ways throughout Albanian culture, but this is nowhere more evident than in the cuisine. Representing a rich historical past, the food of modern Albania has been developed over millennium and reflects a variety of influences. Among the many typical dishes, visitors should not miss byrek, minced meat, vegetables, eggs and cheese in flaky pastry; tavëkosi, (traditional Albanian meal) - mutton baked in a dish with yogurt and eggs; tavëkorani,-a unique kind of trout found only in Lake Ohrid baked with nuts, sauce and onions; and pasha qofte, - a hot soup with meatballs, rice and eggs. Albania is well known for its Scanderbeg cognac, mentioned for its unique flavor and aroma. But the most popular and traditional of Albanian beverages is Raki. It is usually made from grapes, though there are also other kinds of raki made from plums, mulberries, and walnuts. The Best Beaches in Albanian Riviera | Albania

Albanian Riviera is a long stretch of road at the coast of Albanian which is in the districts of Vlore and Sarande. I explore some of the best beaches in the Albanian Riviera which are also some of the best beaches in Albania.
I did this trip in 2 days but I recommend spending at least 3 days in the Albanian Riviera. The most popular spots covered in this video are:

1- Borsch Beach
2- Porto Palermo Beach and Castle
3- Himare Beach
4- Dhermi Beach and Dhermi Town
5- Gjipe Beach & Canyon

While there are tons of other places within the Albanian Riviera with lots of wild beaches, These are my favourite spots in the entire Albanian Riviera.

The Most Stunning Beaches in Albania ???????? | South Albania Riviera

The Albanian Riviera is a coastline along the Northeastern Ionian Sea in the Mediterranean Sea encompassing the districts of Sarandë and Vlorë in Southwestern Albania. It forms an important section of the Albanian Ionian Sea Coast dotted with the villages of Palasë, Dhërmi, Vuno, Himara, Qeparo, Borsh, Piqeras, Lukovë and Sarandë.

The riviera should not be confused with the entire coastline of the country, which includes the Ionian Sea Coast, and the mostly flat Adriatic Sea Coast in the north. The Ceraunian Mountains separates the coast from the hinterland. The area is a major nightlife, ecotourist, and elite retreat destination in Albania. It features traditional Mediterranean villages, ancient castles, churches, monasteries, secluded turquoise beaches, bays, mountain passes, seaside canyons, coves, rivers, underwater fauna, caves, and orange, lemon, and olive groves. During the classical times, 48 BC during his pursuit of Pompey, Julius Caesar set foot and rested his legion at Palasë. He continued onto Llogara Pass in a place later named Caesar's Pass.

Albanian Riviera - Best Holiday Destination in Albania?

Albanian Riviera stretches roughly between Vlore and Sarande in the south-west Albania. This is one of the most beautiful coasts in the whole Ionian Sea and probably on of the best in Europe. The coast is still not very built up, which is mainly thanks to country's previous communism rule which resulted in poverty and isolation.

This feature alone can make it a perfect vacation destination for those who like to experience a little bit of something unfamiliar in this part of Europe. Despite of being really laid back the Albanian Riviera has still a lot to provide for different type of holidaymaker. For example those interested in archaeology will find the visit to ancient city of Butrint really rewarding. The site richly deserves its status as the country's best known archaeological site, but there are many other interesting ancient remains.

Those who love spending their time outdoors should be pleased in any part of the Riviera. Apart from obvious water related activities, the mountains of Riviera also offer fantastic hiking or cycling opportunities for those with more time at their disposal.

Vlore is the biggest city in the Albanian Riviera and it lies in strategical location where the Adriatic and Ionian seas separate. As you'd anticipate the city has Mediterranean look to it, as the streets are filled with palm trees and the access to beach is virtually from the main street. Vlore's geographical position - almost exactly in the middle between capital Tirane and Sarande, and 3 hours by ferry from nearest port of Brindisi in Italy, makes it a advantageous gate point into Albania.

Sarande, on the other hand is probably the most attractive entry point into the country. Sarande is unmistakably visible over its pretty horseshoe bay not long after the hydrofoil or ferry leaves Greek island of Corfu.

The climate in Albanian Riviera is excellent, with typically hot and dry summers and modest and often rainy winters. Some places in parts are averaging around 290 sunny days a year with pleasantly warm temperatures, which rarely and usually only during summer months are exceeding 30 degrees C.

Vlore and Sarande are connected by newly upgraded and well surfaced main road. The route in places is however really steep and narrow (in particular throughout the Llagoraja Pass) and this makes the whole travel at least 4 or 5 hours long. The road goes through marvellous scenery, with dramatic mountains rising up from the coast and the deep blue sea shimmering in the sunlight.

The coastline here is very rugged, with stony coves along the tight coastal strip and steep mountains rising almost straight up along most of its length.

The sea along the coast has clear blue water and it is excellent for swimmers as it is warm enough to swim comfortably from May to October. Non-swimmers should note that land slopes very sharply into the sea, unlike gentle Adriatic coast further north.

The many beaches on the coast are normally made of small pebbles, but there are also some sandy ones, mainly in the south. Beaches in Dhermi, Himara and Ksamili are the best known in the Riviera, but there are also lots of others, however unknown to most tourists as they are likely less accessible.

Top 15 Best Beaches in Albania
It was just a decade ago that travellers really discovered the rugged coastline of Albania.
Its traditional villages burrowed in between golden beaches and isolated bays was an irresistibly charming combination.
Though a lot has changed, the Albanian Riviera is still known for its beauty and as one of the top beach destination spots.
The roads are paved now, making for easy access along the coast where the Adriatic meets the Ionian Sea, and there’s a wide variety of accommodations and restaurants to keep you comfortable.
Albania, and particularly the southern part of the country, has secluded pebble beaches, islands, and a few hidden and pristine sandy beaches.
Come and enjoy the landscape, the fresh seafood, and the marvellous sunsets.

Best Beaches in Albania - ???????? [Drone Footage] 4K

The Albanian Ionian Sea Coast is a coastline of the Northeastern Ionian Sea, that encompasses the southwestern border of the Republic of Albania, stretching from the southern half of Karaburun Peninsula, across the historical region of Labëria, the city of Sarandë, the mountains of the Ceraunians and the Albanian Riviera, to the Lake of Butrint, where the Strait of Corfu separates the country from Greece.

Albania is located in Southern and Southeastern Europe in the western section of the Balkan Peninsula. It borders on Montenegro to the northwest, Kosovo to the northeast, North Macedonia to the east, Greece to the south and the Mediterranean Sea to the west. The coastline occupies a total length of 172 kilometres (107 mi) and explicitly marked by a mountainous landscape supplied with deep bays, numerous islands, high cliffs, rocky and sandy coasts and a unique marine life.

The Ionian Sea is an arm of the Mediterranean Sea positioned south of the Adriatic Sea, which extend from Sicily up to the Strait of Otranto between Salento and Bay of Vlorë. It is surrounded by Italy in the west, Greece and Albania in the east. Though considered by ancient authors to be part of the Adriatic Sea, the Ionian Sea is at present seen as a separate body of water.

Traditionally, the region represents the most valuable tourist resource for the country, especially due to the unspoilt natural and cultural beauty expressed in the region's architecture, cuisine and tradition. Its most considerable attraction is the ancient city of Butrint, that is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, because it provides valuable remains of ancient civilizations.

The region is populated by more than 50.000 people with the largest city being the seaport city of Sarandë, one of the most appreciated tourist destinations in the Ionian Sea. Sarandë is served by Port of Sarandë, one of the largest of the country, which has become a notable sailing and cruise port. The region is very scenic, with wild coastlines, mountains and a very substantial proportion of native forest. Some of the most prominent beaches along the coastline are Dhërmi, Himara, Qeparo, Borsh, Lukovë, Vuno and Ksamil.

The Albanian Ionian Sea Coast is known for its diverse landscapes, unique traditions, and its influence on Albanian culture. It is regarded as the birthplace of the Albanian iso-polyphony which was recognised as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

Welcome to the Albanian Riviera! This part of Albania is absolutely STUNNING!

We had so much exploring its beaches and just living our best Summer life :) We had some issues with the bus situation one more time, but without that, it wouldn't be a travel day in Albania.

We hope you enjoy this Albanian Riviera vlog and hope you get to visit these awesome spots. Gjipe beach was by far the most beautiful beach we visited!! And from all the beach towns we went to (not all included in this video) Qeparo was our favorite. There's not much to see in Dhermi besides for the beach... but it all comes to what you prefer because everyone has different travel styles.

Anyways, you guys know you can ask us anything! We're always happy to help :)

Thanks so much for watching our videos. We don't take it for granted!
