The Land of Bears, Kamchatka, Russia. 5K aerial 360 video

Don't forget that this is 360 video: you can change the angle of view.

Kurile Lake is one of Eurasia's largest locations of salmon spawning (Pacific salmon). Many rivers and streams fall into the lake, but only one river flows out of it — the Ozernaya River. The water practically boils when fish is going up against the current. Salmon population varies from 2 million to 6 million! Another unique feature of Kurile Lake is a long salmon spawning period: from June to March. Both factors attract many brown bears to the lakeshore.

YouTube does not support 12K 360 video yet, so the video was down-sampled from 12K to 8K. But still you need an extraordinary computer power for watching 8K 360° videos.

Nowadays you need extraordinary computer power for watching 8K 360° videos. If you have troubles with watching such videos, choose 4K or HD quality in the settings of your YouTube player. We hope that YouTube will find a solution for optimization this videoformat to make it watchable for common users.

Also here is the answer for a frequently asked question about true resolution of an 8K 360° video. Unlike standard videos, in a 360° video you can see only a part of original image (approximately 30 degrees out of 360). As result, the real resolution of the part you can see isn't bigger than 1.3K.

Kamchatka, Russia. Aerial travel video

AirPano creates 360-videos but classic videos perfectly reflect the earth's beauty, too. A good example is the works of our friend and aerial video footage colleague Vladimir Kushnaryov. The publications of this kind will be gathered into a separate playlist and constantly updated. Sign up to see new videos created by Vladimir. Now let our friend talk for himself.

Everything in the world goes round. From the birth and flourishing to extinction and complete fusion with the Universe.
It's not us who determine whether this circle is large or small, although we are sure of the opposite.
The two circles of life – one deep in the ocean and the other on land – go most all their way independently of each other, but there is a place on earth where they will intersect and become a common story. A survival story.
This place is called Kamchatka.

Every autumn herds of millions of ocean-going salmon are filled up with fry who slip into the ocean from swift freshwater rivers. And for many years the fry will keep growing and gaining weight until a strange signal sends them back, a few thousand kilometers far from their habitat. How and in what magic way would they find this only route, first through the deep dark ocean and then through the tangle of rivers, streams and brooks, to find themselves in the very place, the very river where they were born a few years ago?

It's more like a miracle, like magic. But no one really knows how it happens. Every year several millions of salmon of different breed take their final trip to the rivers of Kamchatka, to find the place of their birth, give life to their offspring and to dissolve forever.

This life circle, taking place for hundreds or thousands of years again and again, unexpectedly gives life energy to another circle, this time on land. The life circle of Kamchatka bears.
On the first warm days in May, the bears come out of their dens, driven by hunger and the instinct of taking care of their cubs. Half asleep, just a few weeks after their hibernation, they survive on fresh grass, roots and some insects. The summer in Kamchatka will be very short, and soon the bears' life will depend only on salmon and on whether the bear gains enough fat before the next hibernation, to survive till spring.
Enjoy the show.

75 000 h.p. The Biggest Nuclear Icebreaker

For licensing and collabs:
Our magic LUTs and presets for color grading:

This video was shot in the Arctic Ocean in March 2018. For 7 days our crew passed through the Barents Sea to Karsky around the Novaya Zemlya archipelago on the nuclear icebreaker Yamal - we saw the northern lights and polar bears, watched the ships stuck in the ice being towed, and were very cold.

In the video you can see two Russian icebreakers - “50 Years of Victory” and “Yamal” with a capacity of 75,000 horsepower and a distinctive shark mouth, which appeared on it in 1994 during one of the children's humanitarian programs. According to legend, someone suggested drawing a smiling shark mouth on the nose to make it more fun for children. At present, Russia has the only nuclear-powered icebreaker fleet in the world. They are used to provide wiring ships in the ices of the Northern Sea Route in the freezing ports of the Russian Federation, research expeditions, rescue operations and tourist cruises.

In addition to the extreme weather conditions, the shooting was complicated by the fact that the icebreaker was always in motion. And if the drone was flying over the radar tower, the recording file was damaged.

Winter Saint Petersburg Russia 6K. Shot on Zenmuse X7 Drone

Our magic LUTs and presets for color grading:

In mid-January, Peter finally fell asleep with snow, and we were able to show the most beautiful Northern city in the world, wrapped in snow, from the air, in ultra-high resolution 6K. For filming, we used a new Ambassador camera Zenmuse X7 together with a new line of lenses DL, which a month ago we sent DJI for our further creativity. Since youtube does not support 6K resolution, we have increased the image to 8K, in order to unlock the full potential of the image.
