Bangkok's Tangled Webs Of Power Cables
Tangled 'spider webs' of black cables were hanging above the streets of Bangkok this week as officials battled to move them all underground.
The overhanging wires include high-voltage electricity lines delivering power to thousands of nearby homes in the Thai capital. There are also phone lines - relics of the landline age that has now been replaced by ubiquitous smartphones and 5G connections.
Many of the lines are in a state of disrepair with exposed cables, dozens hanging on single posts, broken connectors and wires that rest on bridges and walkways.
The footage is from the Huai Khwang area but similar scenes can be found throughout the city as well as other parts of the country.
It comes despite an announcement this month from Thailand's Ministry of Interior that overhead electric cables on some of Bangkok's busiest roads had been moved underground. Officials said that the cables are being put underground to modernise the country.
The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) said that it plans to remove additional aerial power lines on a stretch of 167 kilometres.

Bangkok Thailand during Covid19 Virus April 2nd Parks closed Supermarkets close 10 pm till 5 am
Today Friday April 2nd in Bangkok. The government closed all public parks, at least till the 30th of April. All Supermarkets are ordered to close between 10 pm and 5 am in the morning.
I had to be at Thonglor today to go to the bank. In the bank office they do not allow customers who did not wear a mask. Also at 7-eleven I saw a sign saying that wearing a mask is required.
It's better to just wear a mask. Not only to protect yourself, but in case you are infected without knowing it, you have less chance to spread the disease.
We have put ourselves in quarantine, but sometimes need to go out for shopping or for example going to the bank. Trying to stay home and stay safe everybody!
