Botswana Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Botswana.
Botswana is the largest natural paradise in southern Africa. Limited tourism, a combination of untouched wilderness and the comfort and luxury of a handful of safari camps, makes this Africa’s model country. Our journey begins in nearby Zimbabwe that is located close to Botswana’s northern frontier at Victoria Falls that is undoubtedly one of the most impressive natural wonders in the world. Eighty kilometres west and we have crossed the Botswana border and arrive in the first large city in the north of the country, Kasane, that is located on the Chobe River and marks the country’s frontier with Namibia. In addition to growing tourism the fishing industry is also important to Kasane’s economy. The river contains an abundance of fish and so the local fishermen are provided with a good income to support their families. Since 1915 Ma-Un has been Botswana’s main city and until the beginning of the 1990s was only accessible via dusty gravel roads, a border town on the edge of a vast wilderness. The state run Moremi National Park that extends for around a hundred thousand hectares is the largest nature reserve in the Okavango Delta. It is located on Chief’s Island, the largest island in the region. In recent years further private wildlife reserves have been established that are well worth a visit and are also strictly controlled and protected natural habitats. Amid the African wilderness we arrive at a luxurious lodge that is not only the ideal starting point for many safaris but also provides a good degree of relaxation after an exhausting day out. Suddenly two members of the San Tribe approach the lodge. These ‘Bushmen’ will accompany us on our journey into the Kalahari Desert that is also their home. Elephant herds on the Chobe River, the vast wilderness of the Kalahari and the mystique of the Okavango Delta help to make Botswana one of the last great paradises on Earth!

Botswana’s Okavango Delta - Heaven on Earth

DIRECTOR’S NOTES:

Hey! Antoine Janssens here. Since I was a kid I’ve been fascinated by the wildlife around us. I watch a lot of wildlife documentaries and the beauty that they display still shocks me all the time.

The vision that I have about this sensitive topic is quite simple:
« Look at the beauty of this animal evolving in the wild. We must protect it if we want our children to see it the way we do. »

People protect what they love.

The goal of this movie is to show the beauty of the Okavango Delta and the magnificence of these species living their best life in the wild. And honestly, it's also good to see a place where humans don't have control over it.

I hope this movie will touch you deep in your heart (or just a little bit it’s quite ok ????). Let me know what you think in the comments, I’ll be there!

And finally THANK YOU VERY MUCH @Beautifuldestinations for making this possible!

Travel Videos (Subscribe Now) ????

The Okavango Delta is one of Africa’s most famous destinations. There are several private reserves in the delta, as well as Moremi Game Reserve. It offers a true wilderness experience, excellent wildlife viewing and stunning scenery. Walking safaris and mokoro (dugout canoe) trips are a great addition to the usual game drives.

Wildlife
The delta is a vast area and wildlife viewing is dependent on your location. Moremi Game Reserve is the most productive and four of the Big Five are easily seen. Rhino are present in Moremi, but not seen that often. Elephant and hippo are abundant throughout the delta and wild dogs are quite common. The water-loving red lechwe and waterbuck are easy to see from a mokoro.

Scenery
The Okavango is the world’s largest intact delta. It is fed by the river with the same name during the driest months. The fan-shaped delta is a mosaic of papyrus-fringed channels connecting open areas filled with water lilies. Islands in between carry borassus palms and thickets of acacia and mopane woodland.

Weather & Climate
The Okavango Delta has a Dry season that extends from April to October. Afternoon temperatures are warm and pleasant until September, with the heat quickly building to a fierce peak the following month. Then the rains break, announcing the start of the Wet season (November to March), and the delta starts to cool down a little. It remains reasonably hot in the afternoon, but the morning is especially pleasant.

Best Time to Visit
Water levels in the delta are most conducive to mokoro (dugout canoe) trips in the Dry season (April to October). This is also the best time to see wildlife, putting aside the heat that dominates the two months before the rains come. You can still see animals in the heart of the delta in the Wet season (November to March), but storms and lower water levels can limit activities.

This is the second episode in the Botswana Trip 2022 video series. In the previous episode, Francois van der Westhuizen and I spent four days exploring Khwai’s Magotho region and we had amazing leopard and lion sightings. In this episode we drive back to Maun to pick up our wifes, Tabby and Steph, and along the way spot two packs of wild dogs.

We return to Magotho campsite in Khwai for another five days and have some of the best elephant sightings of the whole trip. We also spend an unforgettable morning exploring the Mbudi River on Mokoros and end our trip with a helicopter flight over the Okavango Delta, which included a Champagne stop in the middle of nowhere!

In the next episode we drive down to Botswana’s largest and wildest game reserve, the Central Kalahari, where we spend three nights at Deception Valley.

Follow us on our road trip safari through southern Africa's wildlife paradise Botswana. We drove through most of Botswana, including all the wildlife-rich areas like the Moremi Game Reserve, Chobe Nationalpark including the Chobe Riverfront and the Kalahari. We also shortly ventured into Zimbabwe to marvel upon the majestic Victoria Falls. We were lucky enough to spot most of the big, and many small, animals which call Botswana home. These include elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, kudus, oryx, ostriches, honey badgers, bat-eared foxes, serval cats, warthogs, springboks, impalas and many more.

SAFARI in BOTSWANA: Travel Guide for 4x4 camper ROAD TRIP to see ALL animals!

Welcome to Africa and welcome to wildlife paradise! Botswana is one of the best countries in the world for safari drives. In this video you'll see our little family on an adventurous road trip in a 4x4 camper. Due to bad weather we have some bad luck on the way, but in Africa help is always nearby. The heavy rainfall makes the challenge to cross Botswana a bit tougher, but we manage to find all the African animals in the National Parks.

In the previous episodes you saw how we started the road trip in Cape Town South-Africa. From there we drove the Cape Namibia Route along the West Coast to look for animals in the Kalahari Desert. After that we crossed the border into Namibia, where we drove straight through the world's highest sand dunes in the Sossusvlei. We saw all the sights in Namibia and wend on a safari in Etosha National Park. After Botswana we'll continue the road trip through Zimbabwe and the Kruger National Park, to finally deliver the camper in Johannesburg South-Africa again.

Our journey through Africa is part of a one and a half year trip around the world. We can even continue to travel indefinitely. On New Year's Day we started in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands. Then you saw us in Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Tobago, Grenada, the Bahamas, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Brazil, Qatar, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia, the Philippines, Zanzibar & Tanzania, South-Africa and Namibia, Botswana is already destination number 24 on the big trip. We have also been away from home for over a year now. Follow us on this world tour, first in Botswana and then to many more beautiful destinations in Africa! We still travel non-stop all year and film everything, with a new episode every week. Also take a look at instagram @woutoftheworld or

A Leopard attacking a provocative photographer in the Maasai Mara National Reserve

A leopard attacking a provocative photographer in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya. This photographer, who either chose to ignore the park rules or just was not briefed correctly, risked his life as a leopard tried to grab his foot.

As you can clearly tell, this vicious leopard was not very impressed and would have harmed the photographer. Even through leopard attacking people is rare, this is not to mean that you should play around with an leopard while on a safari. In fact, the best thing a guide should do when any wildlife gets so close to a tourist vehicle is to move away.

The management of Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya has already banned the camp and the guides who allowed this photographer to get involved in the would-be unfortunate encounter with a leopard.

Okavango Delta (Africa) Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Okavango Delta in Africa.
Although Africa possesses several remarkable natural habitats the vast region of the Okavango Delta is truly unique as, covering fifteen thousand square kilometres, it is the largest land-based delta in the world. The abundance of water within the delta belies the fact that it extends into the middle of the scorching Kalahari Desert where the water masses of the Okavango River have created a huge maze of grass-covered rivers and ponds. It is particularly during the dry season that huge elephant herds are attracted by the waters of the Okavango and the number of giraffes also seems to increase at this time. For as long as the waters of the Okavango River continue to wend their way into the desert, the paradisiacal oasis of the delta will continue to be one of the most captivating natural wonders of the world.
