OUR BATTERY DIED... ON A REMOTE ISLAND - van life day in the life
Our battery mysteriously died right as we got our van onto the Greek island of Tinos, hundreds of miles from the closest hardware store. To be honest this is a pretty typical van life day in the life for us, there's always a little problem here or there, and with a little patience there's almost always a solution. We're so grateful we got a rusty old van and did the van conversion ourselves because there's so much you get to learn every single day with a 40 year old machine : )

GETTING OUR VAN ONTO A GREEK ISLAND | VAN LIFE | A Day in The Life
Ever wondered what it would be like to live in a van on a tiny ISLAND? Sometimes the most beautiful places are a little harder to get to, especially when you're driving a 38 year old van...
Welcome to the first video in our new VAN LIFE -- DAY IN THE LIFE series!!!! Lou and I want this series to capture all the different versions of a typical day living in our 40-year old tiny home on wheels. There is so much variety when it comes to living life on the road full-time in an off-grid campervan. In this first video, we decide to head to an island in Greece called Elafonisos and take advantage of the beautiful summer weather. Before we got our van onto a ferry, we decided to stock up with a mountain of groceries to prepare for our big adventure.

I'm not sure if you're like me, but while I absolutely love other people's birthdays, when it's my own it always feels so strange. But for 29, I decided to embrace it and have the most casual van day yet. We watched Netflix, ate pancakes, played mini-golf, and enjoyed how slow van life can really be. It was really fun to reminisce about the last couple of years too and where we've been on my birthday as ever since we started making Youtube videos we have been traveling more than I ever could have imagined. I wonder where we'll be when I turn 30 next year!

VAN LIFE ON AN ISLAND. it was almost perfect...
We found the PERFECT ISLAND for van life, but there was one teeny, tiny problem... Join us this week as we battle a bunch of mosquitos, Dana gives Lou a haircut for the first time in years, and we explore the beautiful island of Elafonisos in southern Greece.
Some days in the van are so beautiful I just want to bottle them up and keep them forever--and lucky for me, Lou edited together our snippets from this day into a nice Day in the Life story that shows what it's really like to live in a van--we swim in the ocean, we make repairs on our rusty old home, we have to get creative when our lpg gas bottle runs dry.

A Lazy Day of VAN LIFE in Greece
Not every day in the van is a crazy adventure! Sometimes we just want to enjoy a good book on the beach and eat yummy food. This is our third video in our new Van Life Day in the Life series and it really captures my sleepiness after traveling back from America and the beautiful reunion with Lou and Ody on the Island of Tinos in Greece. Showers and AC might be nice, but I would never trade it for van life. In our tiny home we have created our own little peaceful world where the biggest thing on our to-do list for the day can be getting groceries :)

We're Tom and Iz, who live and travel in our van La Bamba. We love nature and are currently traveling in Norway!!
You might find Tom in the forest IDing a mushroom, fixing something or starting an ambitious project with his laid-back relaxed approach whereas you could find Isabel cooking up a storm, sunning herself on a beach and being a busy, energetic bee with her endless enthusiasm and positivity! We are total opposites but it works!
How did we end up here?! ???? ⏮
We met 10 years ago when we were both finishing our A-levels and had a whirlwind summer romance, hitch-hiking around France together before before going our separate ways to travel and to university. We've both always prioritised travel and adventure and have worked hard over the years in hospitality jobs to enable us to keep exploring.
Tom hitch-hiked across Europe and road tripped around Australia whilst Iz studied Environmental Science at York. Iz backpacked around South America with her sister whilst Tom studied Forestry at Aberdeen University. Little did we know we just weren't going to get each other out of our minds! Fast forward 4 years later, we found ourselves in campsite warden jobs, living in a bell tent in a wild flower meadow together! Maybe without realising this was the start of our van life journey!
Next, we both trained to be science teachers and during training, we bought a van, ripped out it's interior and converted it to live in it. Iz managed to get a remote work-from-home job that she could do from the van and Tom was passionate about starting up a YouTube channel.
Since then we haven't looked back and when the pandemic allowed us to, we travelled to Spain, Portugal, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and around Cornwall. We are now on a big European road trip! We are giving it our best shot to do YouTube full time. We have a dream of one day owning a little plot of land and building ourselves a cabin in the woods. If you're new around here you can check out our previous videos; we've been uploading weekly videos for the last 9 months and are currently releasing DAILY VIDEOS.
Our message on our channel is to inspire others to do what they love as life is too short! We love living simply, freely with less stuff but more time!

We Got a New Van!!! - (FOR FREE)
Sometimes there's nothing wrong with asking for what you want! We knew we would be missing our van Ody during our long stint back to the States and really wanted to try out van life in the United States after spending a year in a van in Europe.
So after some brainstorming, I decided to go out of my comfort zone, pitch a stranger and ask him to give us a beautiful Westfalia Vanagon for two weeks for FREE. I kept reminding myself when reaching out to Harley at PeaceVans that the worst that could happen was he said no... but the best that could happen is we get an incredible adventure, get to collaborate with a wonderful company, and in the end, we'd get to make some killer videos! Hope you enjoy this one as much as we did making it.

We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.
So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.
Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.

In this USA vanlife travel vlog we continue our journey north in our campervan to Michigan's Upper Peninsula - starting in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, where we announce our biggest challenge yet!
After leaving one of the best campsites we've stayed in so far on this trip, we made our way to Mackinac Island to try the famous fudge and soak in the surroundings before continuing north to meet with some locals! Alex goes morning kayaking on one of Michigan's many lakes before we have our worst night's sleep in the RV so far due to an intruder in the night.

How to Shower in a Van
Showering in a van can be a little difficult at first! But once you get used to van life, I promise it becomes totally normal to shower outside in your bathing suit. You'll get excited when you find outdoor showers at beaches or other hidden spots along your travels. You'll get used to using baby wipes or face wipes to stay clean when you're running low on water. And then again there's always a night at a campsite to get a nice, warm shower (and if you're lucky, you might even get good water pressure) every now and again. After jumping onboard a ferry to go from Prince Rupert to Port Hardy we spend a week on Vancouver island. Its rainforest, gorgeous pacific coast and endless trails, the place is a dream! Unfortunately, following our DCDC burning the week before, we quickly run out of energy in our batteries. We need to figure a way to charge them to be able to finally explore the remote areas of Vancouver Island as well as relax a bit after the 4 weeks of the Alaska expedition.

WE SOLD OUR VAN - van life is over : (
It’s true, we sold our van, and van life is over for us, but the next adventure awaits, (if things work out) so head to to buy your copy of the eBook and join our 2020 newsletter community!
I know this news might come as a huge surprise to a lot of you and I promise this was a very difficult decision for Lou and me to make. But the thing is we never thought Ody would be our forever home. Instead, he served us so well for the two years we lived and explored Europe. We had so many crazy adventures and are so proud of what we have learned along the way. From the van conversion in Spain to all the little upgrades we made to our van build, it’s been a wild journey! Van life was one of the most challenging and rewarding things we have ever done. And we promise there is a lot of adventure on the horizon.
My younger brother David just joined the team and Lou is teaching him how to edit. We are in the process of saving up money to buy a sailboat. We want to take everything we learned while in Ody and push ourselves to the next level! Making the ocean our home has been our dream for years and we've never been closer than we are at this very moment!
We're taking the next two weeks off from making videos to be with family for the holidays but we'll be back in the new year with our regular weekly programming!

Whiplash
Right now life feels like a crazy, beautiful, intense blur. Zipping from one place to the next, building memories, meeting friends, then saying goodbye all over again, waking up some mornings unsure of where we parked the van the night before, or what country we're even in. I decided to try and intercut some of the last years footage to give you an idea of the feeling of whiplash Dana and I are experiencing. Best enjoyed with some nice headphones : )
