【4K】 The Hague,Netherlands,Den Haag

The Hague (Dutch: Den Haag) is located in the Dutch province of South Holland and is also the capital of the province. The Hague is the third largest city in the Netherlands, after Amsterdam and Rotterdam, with an area of about 100 square kilometers and a population of 480,000.
The Dutch Constitution stipulates that the capital is Amsterdam. Although The Hague is not the legal capital of the Netherlands, it is the seat of the central government of the Netherlands. It is located on a sandy plain 6.4 kilometers away from the sea to the north on the west coast of the Netherlands. It is also the site of the royal palace and government. Parliament and foreign missions are also located here. It has a temperate maritime climate, the west of the city is 4.5 meters above sea level, and the east of the city is a depression below sea level.
The Hague is located on the coast of southwestern Netherlands. The Hague has been the political center of the Netherlands since the 13th century. Many government agencies, embassies, and international organizations are located in The Hague. The official residences of the kings and royals of the Netherlands are also here, so The Hague is the 'Royal City' of the Netherlands. This is a well-deserved art palace, with the top works of many famous painters over the past 5 centuries. The Peace Palace, a famous building in The Hague, is located on the outskirts of the city. It was built in 1907-1913 and funded by governments of various countries. It symbolizes the meaning of working together to create peace. It is now the site of the United Nations International Court of Justice.
Urban life is concentrated in the area around Lake Hoffefa and the Reichstag, where the 'Knight's Hall' is located. The Hague University is located here; as a well-known applied institution of higher learning, The Hague University has about 16,000 domestic and foreign students; The Hague also has many civil servants and diplomats. There are different types and numbers of foreign restaurants in The Hague, especially the population distribution of foreign residents has caused great cultural differences in the city, resulting in many foreign taverns, shops and cultural activities. The Hague is the largest Dutch city on the North Sea coast, and two coastal towns with completely different styles have appeared in The Hague.
The former Dutch East Indies colony, today's Indonesia, has left its historical traces in The Hague. The names of many streets are based on the names of Dutch East Indies. Among them, there is a large-scale 'Indish(e)' or 'Indo' in the city, which is a mixed-race community of Dutch and Indonesian. Since the Netherlands lost its East India colony in December 1949, they have called The Hague the 'Window of Indonesia'. The houses in the city are generally low-rise houses no higher than three stories, and they are all very elegant. The city is more spacious in layout than other Dutch cities. The Hague has a small number of canals because most of the canals in The Hague dried up in the nineteenth century. Some of the most prosperous and poorest neighbourhoods in the Netherlands can be found in The Hague. The richer areas are located in the northwest of the city; the poorer areas are in the south or east of the city.
The Hague is the headquarters of international organizations. Famous examples include the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, the Permanent Court of Arbitration, and unrepresented countries and ethnic organizations. This also makes The Hague one of the main UN trustee cities. Other cities include New York, Brussels, Geneva, Bonn, Vienna, Tokyo and Nairobi.
