This is NOT a promotional video. I pay for all of my flights and hotels (and I always tell you how much!) so I can be as honest and impartial as possible. I do not receive any special treatment that wouldn’t otherwise be publicly accessible, in fact, the hotels and airlines have no idea about my visit and that's the way I like it!

Check out my recent flight on Japan Airlines in First class from JFK to NRT.
I wanted to revisit their first class product ever since I first flew them back in 2018! I had a great flight, the food and crew were superb as always. I don't currently recommend flying right now until the Covid-19 pandemic is under control though. I hope this video can help you get back into the spirit of traveling even if we can't just yet!

Japan Airlines PREMIUM Economy used FIRST CLASS Lounge?! Tokyo to New York | JAL プレミアムエコノミー ニューヨーク

Japan Airlines offered First Class Lounge to Premium Economy tickets. What a deal?!

Route: Tokyo to New York
Departure: Haneda Airport
Destination: JFK Airport
Airlines: Japan Airlines
Flight code: JL6
Aircraft: Boeing 777-300ER (773)
Capacity: 244 seats
Ticket: Premium Economy
Flight time: more than 13 hours (scheduled time + delay)
Price: 32,500 miles + 26,380 yen (about 200 USD)

I’ve always had good experience with Japan Airlines. And it just got better this time with the offer to use First Class Lounge for a Premium Economy ticket.
The Lounge was amazing! Stunning design! Zen and warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Absolutely loved the sushi at the lounge! Cappuccino was also delicious! I just wish I had more time to enjoy this lounge!

All in all, except for the one-hour check-in and the online ordering trouble at the lounge, I enjoyed this more-than-13-hours flight. Will I use this premium economy seat of JAL again? Absolutely!

Room for improvement (if I might): loved the healthy “chewing” concept for breakfast, but probably not for tired people like myself :) I couldn’t make my jaw exercise after so many hours on a plane…

***FOOD***
1st meal options:
Grilled beef with vegetables and red miso OR Seafood omelet rice
Salads:
- Fresh salad
- Spaghetti salad with scallop and chicken
- Mashed tofu salad
- Carrot fromage with tonburi seeds, served with cracker
Dessert: Haagen Daz strawberry ice cream

2nd meal: Millet short pasta with soymilk tomato sauce

Japan Airlines Business Class Boeing 777-300ER | Tokyo Haneda to San Francisco

Airline: Japan Airlines
Flight Number: JL2
Route: HND-SFO
Class: Business Class
Aircraft: Boeing 777-300ER
Registration: JA735J
Delivered: July 2006
Flight Duration: 8 Hours 35 Minutes
Distance: 5,160 Miles

Blogpost:

Overall impression:

Overall, our experiences flying with Japan Airlines (JAL) have been consistently positive, especially when traveling in business class. We particularly enjoy JAL's Sky Suite product (Apex Suite seat), which is available on their 787s and 777-300ERs for long-haul flights. While these seats may not be revolutionary, they are incredibly comfortable and perfect for lounging, relaxing, and getting some rest.

What I liked:

The JAL First Class Lounge in Haneda - Thanks to our Oneworld Emerald status, we had the opportunity to visit the JAL First Class Lounge at Haneda Airport. It's one of my personal favorites, and we always make it a priority to stop by when flying through Haneda. The lounge boasts plenty of comfortable seating options, including luxurious massage chairs, and the Japanese cuisine is absolutely delicious - every dish is freshly prepared and scrumptious.

The Catering - The dining experience on our flight from Tokyo was truly exceptional. The meals served were of restaurant quality and tasted absolutely delicious. One thing I particularly appreciated was the dine-on-demand service, which allowed us to order food whenever we wanted. The Japanese meal I ordered was not only fresh and delicious, but also elegantly presented. My companion's wagyu sirloin was equally impressive, expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. As a finale to the flight, we opted for the Miyazaki Wagyu Beef Curry for our pre-landing meal. It was a perfect choice - the dish was hearty, flavorful, and a great way to conclude our journey.

The Exceptional Service - The service we received from the flight attendants on our JAL flight was exceptional. From the moment we boarded the plane, the attendants were warm, welcoming, and eager to accommodate our needs. Throughout the flight, they consistently went above and beyond to ensure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed.

The Business Class Seats - JAL's Apex Suite seats in business class are arranged in a 2-3-2 configuration, which can feel slightly dense on the 777 aircraft. However, the seats themselves are incredibly comfortable for both lounging and sleeping, and each seat offers direct aisle access, which is a major plus. The adjustable seat functions, including a fully-flat bed mode, are easy to use and make it possible to get a good night's sleep on the flight.

What I didn’t like:

The In-flight Entertainment - The in-flight entertainment on our JAL flight offered a decent selection of content, with a variety of movies, TV shows, and music to choose from. However, one downside was that the interface was operated by a small remote control rather than a larger screen. This made browsing through the options less enjoyable and somewhat difficult. While the content itself was good, the overall experience of using the in-flight entertainment system could have been improved.

Lack of Individual Air Nozzles - The JAL flight did not have individual air nozzles, which was a personal preference issue for me. However, the flight crew maintained a comfortable cabin temperature throughout the flight. Overall, the lack of air nozzles was a minor inconvenience, but the attentive service helped make for an enjoyable flight.

It’s fine, I guess...

The Amenities - While JAL did not provide pajamas in their business class, they did offer slippers and cardigans for loan. The Sony noise-cancelling headphones provided had decent sound quality, but were not exceptional. The Maison Kitsune amenity kit was basic and minimal, and while the duvet and pillow were acceptable, the Airweave mattress pads provided an extra layer of comfort for sleeping. The lavatories on the JAL flight were impressively clean, stocked with toiletries, and even equipped with Toto washlets. Overall, while the amenities provided by JAL were not the most luxurious, they were functional and added to the overall comfort of the flight.

Bottom Line:
As always, Japan Airlines left us wanting more with our most recent flight. We almost didn't want the journey to end. Overall, our JAL flight was a positive experience with exceptional service, delicious dining options, and comfortable seating. Although there were minor inconveniences such as the lack of individual air nozzles and less-than-stellar in-flight entertainment, the attentive flight crew and overall comfort of the cabin helped make for an enjoyable journey. JAL remains one of our top choices when traveling to Japan and beyond.

JAPAN AIRLINES BUSINESS CLASS BOEING 777-300ER | HND-JFK

#japanairlines #jal #businessclass #jfk #hnd #japan #すごい

Overall Impression:

Japan Airlines' Sky Suite Business Class product has been out for a few years now, but I've never had the chance to try it until now. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the seat was. There are 49 JAL Sky Suites (a.k.a. B.E. Aerospace's Apex Suite) business class seats on the Boeing 777-300ER, which are configured in a 2-3-2 layout. I was initially worried that the seat might feel cramped because of the dense layout, but my worries went away as soon as I sat in the seat. The shoulder and legroom were more than adequate for me. The seat reclines to a full flat bed. In addition to the supplied full size pillow and duvet, the crew also places an airweave mattress on the bed upon request, which made the bed super comfortable. The window seats are notably more private than the aisle seats, but the aisle seats have an extra side storage compartment which the window seats lack. The food were all catered from Haneda which means that they were excellent quality and the crew did a good job in the presentation. Service was efficient and polite, but the crew felt a bit disconnected and cold to non-Japanese passengers. My only biggest gripe with this product is the lack of overhead air nozzles considering JAL keeps their cabin a bit too warm for my liking, the air vents would have made a big difference. Please join me and let's fly with JAL's business class.

What I liked:

JAL First Class Lounge at Haneda Airport - The JAL First Class Lounge in HND is one of my favorite lounges in the Oneworld Alliance. We have access to the lounge via our Oneworld Emerald status. As you can see from the video, there's plenty of food and beverage options including made to order hot food. There's also plenty of seating, including a smoking room for those who smoke.

The Seat - The seats offers plenty of shoulder and legroom space and reclines into a full flat bed. The window seats takes the cake for privacy and aisle wins for storage space.

The food - Onboard catering was excellent, especially if you like Japanese food. I ordered the Japanese lunch set and it was amazing and very nicely presented. You can also order from the anytime dining menu at any given time during the flight.

The onboard service - The flight attendants delivered excellent and polished service during the flight. Though the service was not as warm as other Asian carriers, I still think the crew was well intentioned and eager to please. I was proactively offered drink refills and the crew always responded to my please and thank yous. :)

What I didn't like:

The IFE - This plane uses JAL's Magic V Entertainment system. Sadly, it seems you can only navigate the IFE content using the touchscreen remote, which I'm not real fond of. There were a good amount of new movies, TV and Audio content, and even some games.

The cabin temperature and no air nozzles - JAL is notorious for having a very warm cabin which is not everyone's cup of tea. I personally like a cooler cabin, which more conducive to sleep. Sadly, this flight was a bit too warm for me, and air nozzles would have helped me cool down.

It was OK...I guess:

The onboard bar - During the flight, the crew sets up a walk-up bar near the galley for some self-service snacks and beverages. Sadly the bar was very basic with just a few selections or snacks and wines, unlike other carrier's very extensive snack selections.

JAPAN AIRLINES FIRST CLASS - Boeing 777-300ER

My Japan Airlines First Class Review
I flew on Japan Airlines First Class Suites, with a ticket which costs over $10,000. Of course I didn't pay anywhere near that.

I departed LAX on JAL's First Class on their Boeing 777-300ER , a flight which takes between 11-12 hours. Today I have one of their First Class Suites and I'm going to show you around it. From the food right through to how to suite turns into a comfortable bed. JAL First Class is a great experience especially on such a long flight where you're able to indulge in all the amenities on offer.

I paid $100 for my JAL First Class ticket by using Avios miles to redeem. Make sure you follow my IG here for all the info, and feel free to drop me a dm:

Japan Airlines First Class 777 Chicago to Tokyo Narita

With the outbreak of Coronavirus and the resulting travel restrictions, it not a great time for a lot of travel channels (and travel industry in particular). I wanted to plan a trip with Garuda Indonesia and Malaysia Airlines however positioning for these flights would require visiting Europe or East Asia. There are still videos I have been working on from prior travels and are in the process of posting them. In the meantime, stay safe and wash your hands.
