Why Montenegro?
We were searching for a foreign real estate market that is undervalued and has great multi-year appreciation potential. Montenegro is a breathtakingly beautiful small country, with only 600,000 inhabitants and slightly smaller than the state of Connecticut in the US. With low cost property options, taxes between 9% to 15% max (on capital gains and income), and a great legal infrastructure. It outperformed the other countries we compared it to in our analysis. Montenegro is in a unique situation where demand is rising rapidly as foreign investors jump on the opportunity, creating rapid appreciation for those investing now.

A sky lantern also known as Kongming lantern or Chinese lantern, is a small hot air balloon made of paper, with an opening at the bottom where a small fire is suspended.
In Asia and elsewhere around the world, sky lanterns have been traditionally made for centuries, to be launched for play or as part of long-established festivities. The name sky lantern is a translation of the Chinese name but they have also been referred to as sky candles or fire balloons.
The general design is a thin paper shell, which may be from about 30 cm to a couple of metres across, with an opening at the bottom. The opening is usually about 10 to 30 cm wide (even for the largest shells), and is surrounded by a stiff collar that serves to suspend the flame source and to keep it away from the walls.
When lit, the flame heats the air inside the lantern, thus lowering its density and causing the lantern to rise into the air. The sky lantern is only airborne for as long as the flame stays alight, after which the lantern sinks back to the ground.
During Diwali festival (The festival of Light) eco-friendly sky lanterns are used for celebrations along with fireworks.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this channel to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time!
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are in our 9TH YEAR of finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)

Tuesday Tip - Getting your home show-ready in 15 mins
If your home is listed or you are getting ready to list, you will want to check out my expert tip for getting your home show-ready in just 15 minutes! This tip works assuming your home is generally tidy at the start (dishes are done, beds are made, etc.)
For when you get that last minute showing, have 2-3 cheap laundry baskets (you can get them from the Dollar Store) to put all the 'clutter' around your house in the baskets. I am talking toys, mail that has piled up, unfolded laundry, anything that is laying around or needs to be picked up. Just shove the baskets in the trunk of your car and voila! - your home is tidied up. Open up your curtains and turn on all the lights and you will be amazed what a difference it makes and in no time at all.
Extra Tip: DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT use any scented plug ins or candles for showings. It can be very overwhelming to buyers that are sensitive to smells and it can also give the impression to buyers that you are trying to cover something up! So just don't do it!
