Harvest Caye (Belize) Cruise Port Guide: Tips and Overview
Harvest Caye is Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island that was opened in 2016 and is located off the southeast coast of Belize, about 70 miles south of Belize City. Cruise ships visiting Harvest Caye dock at a pier that is located at the southern edge of the island and passengers can enjoy the day relaxing or playing at the beach, exploring the island, or taking part in various shore excursions.

Join me on this walk-through Harvest Caye Island! Filmed during the Beach Boys Cruise 2023. Located off the southeast coast of Belize, about 70 miles south of Belize City is Harvest Caye, Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island. The island has perfect weather all year long, ranging from the 80s and 90s. Harvest Caye is the only port with a cruise ship pier in Belize, a bonus for Norwegian cruisers. Walking along a covered path, it takes about 10 minutes for guests to reach the island. Rides Are Available Up and Down the Pier. There are carts that run the length of the pier, picking up and dropping off passengers between the ship and the shore. If you walk the pier, just be sure you stay on your side of the walkway to let the carts pass.
Key Highlights:
Beach - The island has a 7-acre beach area with plenty of loungers and some palm trees for shade. The far end is rarely crowded with lots of spots available.
Pool – Popular with guests, the 15,000-square foot pool has a swim-up bar and a waterfall. The resort style area is complimentary and includes chairs and umbrellas. The pool is not heated, which is not a big issue given the weather.
Ocean - Harvest Caye allows for access to the Belize Barrier Reef, the second largest in the world. There is also a saltwater lagoon that hosts several water activities.

Make sure to bring cash and/or credit card. Your shipboard account doesn’t work at restaurants, bars, or shops on Harvest Caye. Also, you might want to make sure to pack a beach towel as the island may not provide towel service.

WOW! Welcome to Norwegian Cruise Line's private island in Belize, Harvest Caye! Come take a tour with us as we spend the day in one of the island's Luxury Beach Villas. The villa, which can accommodate up to six guests, was the perfect way to spend a day at the beach—it's spacious, air conditioned, clean, and even includes a full bathroom with a shower! There's lots of indoor and outdoor seating, including a hammock. The villas also come with floats to take out into the ocean with you—so you can take a nap while you drift in the calm waters off the island!
While the luxury beach villas are an expensive excursion to book through NCL, we think they're worth it and would absolutely do it again.

Harvest Caye is a beautiful, private island located at the southern end of Belize, about 50 miles north of the border between Honduras and Guatemala.
Harvest Caye is only about a mile long and 400 feet wide but even though it's a very small island, there's so much to do in this piece of tropical paradise -- shopping for souvenir items, snorkeling, paddleboard, kayak, marine sports, swimming in the pool or beach, ziplining from the lighthouse which is the signature landmark of the island, beach games, ropes course and more. Everything is just a short walk away.
Off-island excursions are also available to allow cruisers to see more of Belize, including tours to Placencia, about 5 miles from Harvest Caye. Harvest Caye is owned by Norwegian Cruise Lines.
