Haesindang Park is home to the the nation’s largest aquarium museum, which exhibits folk materials that shows the lifestyle of fishermen of the East Sea, an arboretum and a park that displays some sexual art sculptures. In addition, there is an interesting bronze statue that tells about a legend of a nearby village.

SOUTH KOREA ROAD TRIP | haesindang park & gangneung exhibition & crabs
On the last leg of our week long road trip, we drove up the east coast of Korea! From Busan we made our way to Haesindang Park all the way up to Gangneung to catch some more beach fireworks and eat THE most delicious crab I've ever had! Oh yeah, we also hit up this super dope immersive light exhibition! Deff a must see :)

Chuseok, also known as Hangawi, is a major harvest festival and a three-day holiday in South Korea celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar on the full moon. In North Korea, they only celebrate for the day of chuseok
Chuam Chotdaebawi Rock in Donghae-si, Gangwon-do is one of Korea’s most famous tourist attractions. The beautifully formed rock towers high into the sky and resembles a candlestick, from which it gets its name. Chotdaebawi Rock and the nearby rock formations seem to change the shape they resemble along with the waves that crash against the rocks. The view of the sunrise from behind Chotdaebawi Rock is so popular that it attracts photographers and tourists nationwide.

Once upon a time, there was a man who lived in Chuam who had a concubine. His wife was jealous of the second wife and the conflict between the two women continually escalated. One day, god became enraged over their continual quarreling and threw lighting down from heaven, striking both women dead. The newly-made widower missed his wives so much that he remained frozen in his loneliness and eventually turned into a rock, which is now called Chotdaebawi Rock.
Haesingdang Park is the only place in the east coast where you can find Korea’s folk phallicism. The Park has a folk fishing museum that shows the lives of people in fishing villages and a witty phallic sculpture park. The coastal pine tree trail that lies along the park offers great natural sceneries and is regarded as one of the best attractions in the east coast.
Legend of Aebawi
Once upon a time, there lived a young lad and a young lass who were engaged. One day, On his way out to sea to harvest seaweed, the lad stopped, dropped the lass on a rock just near the beach, promising to return to the beach and pick her up later. But, all of sudden, a very strong wind blew, and waves were crashing in, and the lass fell from the rock and drowned to death. Since then, the villagers couldn't catch fish in that sea and a rumor saying that it’s all because of the spirit of the dead girl started to spread. One day, a fisherman wasn’t catching any fish like always and he peed into the sea. Then suddenly, the sea became filled with fish and he came home with a big catch. Since then, the villagers made wooden penis carvings on the 15th day of the New Year (lunar calendar) to soothe the spirit of the dead girl. Still today, the villagers hold rituals, making and hanging wood penis carvings that day and on the 5th day of October on the lunar calendar.
Imwon ri is a small, clean and peaceful fishing village in Samcheok, the place where we stayed during the holidays.

덕배와 애랑의 사랑
덕배와 애랑이 고기를잡으러 섬에 나가고 그 섬에 애랑을 남겨놓고 덕배가 이따가 오겠다하고 육지로 나왔으나 거센 풍랑으로 덕배가 데릴러가지도 못하고~
애랑이가그만 풍랑에 밀려 죽고~
