The Dubai Mall Downtown Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is one of the largest shopping centers in the world with 350,000 square meters.
The Dubai Mall is located south of the well-known Sheik Zayed Road opened on November 4, 2008 with an initial 600 stores and when completed will house 1200 stores, attracting 37 million visitors per year.
The mall also has 120 food and beverage outlets, the world's largest gold souk with 220 stores, an Olympic-size ice rink, a music-controlled fountain, a 24-meter-high water cascade, a fashion show hall, a 22-screen multiplex movie theater, a computer game presentation center, and a supervised children's adventure land.
Another attraction of the Dubai Mall is the aquarium, which extends over three floors. The largest tank has a footprint of 51 × 20 meters and is 11 meters high. The largest tank, made of 75-centimeter-thick acrylic glass, contains 33,000 sea animals and fish, including sharks of several species, perches, rays and other reef dwellers, in 10,000 cubic meters of seawater taken from the Persian Gulf. Crocodiles, giant crabs but also seals and penguins are in other smaller basins. A two-meter-high narrow pedestrian tunnel runs through the lower tank, with walls only 19 centimeters thick, which serves to reproduce the natural size of the animals. Since no natural light enters the pool, it has a lighting system with control room for day and night simulation; also automatic feeders and water-saving water circulation and purification technology; the water is kept germ-free with ozone. The Dubai Aquarium and Discovery Center received the Guinness World Record for the largest acrylic screen, as well as for the largest shopping mall aquarium.
The Dubai Mall, planned by Emaar Properties, is part of the Downtown Dubai project. There is a direct pedestrian connection to the world's tallest skyscraper, Burj Khalifa, from the Dubai Mall, which also provides access to the Burj Khalifa observation deck.

Dubai ???????? Mall of The Emirates 2023 [ 4K ] Walking Tour
Mall of the Emirates (Arabic: مول الإمارات) is a shopping mall in Dubai. Developed and owned by Majid Al Futtaim Group, it opened in November 2005 and is located at interchange four on Sheikh Zayed Road.
The multi-level shopping mall currently features more than 630 retail outlets, 7900 parking spaces, over 100 restaurants and cafés, 80 luxury stores and 250 flagship stores. It has a total gross leasable area of 255,489 square meters.
It also hosts family leisure activities including Ski Dubai (the Middle East's first indoor ski resort and snow park), the 500-seat capacity Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre and Magic planet, one of the largest indoor family entertainment centers in Dubai.
Ski Dubai is a large indoor skiing facility at Mall of the Emirates, offering snowboarding, ski lessons, children's play area and cafe. It opened in November 2005 and houses the world's largest indoor snow park. It is operated by Majid Al Futtaim Leisure & Entertainment.
In November 2005, it was named the World's Leading New Shopping Mall at the World Travel Awards in London. In 2017, Forbes named Mall of the Emirates as one of the top five shopping malls in Dubai.
Construction and history
The project was launched in October 2003 at an estimated cost of AED 800 million (US$218 million), and was scheduled to be completed in September 2005. The architecture in the three-storey complex combines Arabic and Mediterranean elements, with each level connected to a car park.
The mall was designed by the American architectural firm F+A Architects. The main building contract was handled by Khansaheb, while the Ski Dubai contract was given to Pomagalski. The chair lifts in the snow park and the structural steel works were handled by Emirates Building System and the piling by Bauer.
The mall opened for business on 28 September 2005 with an official inauguration in November.
