Bryce Canyon National Park is an American national park located in southwestern Utah. The major feature of the park is Bryce Canyon, which despite its name, is not a canyon, but a collection of giant natural amphitheaters along the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Bryce is distinctive due to geological structures called hoodoos, formed by frost weathering and stream erosion of the river and lake bed sedimentary rocks. The red, orange, and white colors of the rocks provide spectacular views for park visitors. Bryce Canyon National Park is much smaller, and sits at a much higher elevation than nearby Zion National Park. The rim at Bryce varies from 8,000 to 9,000 feet (2,400 to 2,700 m).
The park covers 35,835 acres (55.992 sq mi; 14,502 ha; 145.02 km2) and receives substantially fewer visitors than Zion National Park (nearly 4.3 million in 2016) or Grand Canyon National Park (nearly 6 million in 2016), largely due to Bryce's more remote location. In 2018, Bryce Canyon received 2,679,478 recreational visitors, which was an increase of 107,794 visitors from the prior year.

Bryce Canyon National Park is located in the south of Utah. It’s a small park that spans about 36,000 acres or 145 square km, encompassing a series of natural amphitheaters that are carved into the edge of a high plateau. These amphitheaters are filled with colorful eroded spires of rocks called “hoodoos”, which is what sets Bryce Canyon apart from other national parks in the US. Loaded with red sandstone spires and formations, this scenic area offers some great hiking and mountain biking trails.

Zion to Bryce Canyon National Park Complete Utah Scenic Drive 4K
Complete scenic drive from Zion National Park to Bryce Canyon National Park through the southwest Utah countryside. We begin on Utah Route 9 in Zion National Park and head east. From there we head northbound on U.S. Route 89 (Mt. Carmel Scenic Byway) in Mt. Carmel, Utah, then we meet up with Utah Scenic Byway 12 and head east through Red Canyon in Dixie National Forest and into Bryce Canyon National Park.

The Bryce Canyon area was settled by Mormon pioneers in the 1850s and was named after Ebenezer Bryce, who homesteaded in the area in 1874. The area around Bryce Canyon was originally designated as a national monument by President Warren G. Harding in 1923 and was redesignated as a national park by Congress in 1928. The park covers 35,835 acres (55.992 sq mi; 14,502 ha; 145.02 km2)[1] and receives substantially fewer visitors than Zion National Park (nearly 4.3 million in 2016) or Grand Canyon National Park (nearly 6 million in 2016), largely due to Bryce's more remote location. In 2016, Bryce Canyon received 2,365,110 recreational visitors, representing an increase of 35% from the prior year.

You’ve probably heard of Bryce Canyon, but maybe you haven’t heard what makes it famous. It’s not just the hoodoos, those iconic columns formed through millions of years of the freeze-thaw cycle. No, it’s that Bryce has the largest concentration of hoodoos IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!
Bryce Canyon is at the perfect point on earth combining geology and weather. It has the perfect combination of rock types and corresponding chemical compositions, the perfect elevation to maximize the freeze-thaw cycle and the perfect amount of rain to complete the hoodoo development process.

Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah | 4K Scenic Guide 2023
Take in the sights and experience Bryce Canyon National Park from every angle. From the breathtaking scenic overlooks, to the lesser traveled backcountry under the rim trails. Hike and camp on of America's most stunning treasures. Experience the stunning geologic formations known as Hoodoos. These wonders make up the majority of the scenery at the park formed by freezing ice and water cracking the rock over centuries creating towering red rock formations and exposing layers and layers of different rock formations formed over thousands of year. The panoramic views in this park are unparalleled and must be seen either on Kutthroat Outdoors or with your own eyeballs in person. The trails here are very accessible to pull up, hop out of the car, and a few steps later take in the views. If your an adventurous little rascal like us you can dip several thousand feet below the rims and get into all the nifty little crevices of the park. From backcountry hiking below the rim and through the serene, peaceful, completely quite forests and away from the crowds. You can also walk all along the rim, horseback ride, scenic helicopter tours, grab a cheeseburger, car camp, maybe even have an adult beverage and catch a world class sunset. Take it all in and enjoy!
This video features: Inspiration Point, Rainbow point, Bryce Point, Sunrise Point, Sunset Point, Mossy Cave and Waterfall, Queens garden loop, navajo loop, peekaboo loop, riggs spring loop with backcountry camping at Yompiva Pass (where the sunrise and sunset timelpases were shot). We also drive through Red Canyon national forest.
