On todays Brussels food tour we try three traditional foods. We had an incredible morning having the best waffles in Brussels at Maison Dandoy. One of the oldest waffle factories in all of Brussels. Their food is fresh, made to order and absolutely to die for. Don't miss the opportunity to have some of the best waffles you'll have in your life here.
Next up we went to find some traditional Belgium frits. Chipys, fries.. Whichever you want to call them! They're fabulous. It's on the main square in Brussels and just around the corner from Maison Danoy. We ordered regular with mayo. It was absolutely divine!
We spend the afternoon exploring the heart of Chocolate museum in Brussels. It was fantastic. Cannot say enough good things about this museum. They're displays show the history of chocolate in the media, some incredible artworks and they have a chocolatier on site. So you'll definitely get some incredible fresh chocolate on site.

Today we ate our way through one of our new favourite cities!
We decided to do a DIY Belgian Food Tour and tried some traditional Belgian food, ate our weight in fries and of course washed it all down with some Belgian Beer ???? Our 5 foods to try were Belgian waffles from the Waffle Factory (both Brussels and Leige), Frites (fries) from Fritland, Mitraillette Sandwich from La Friterie, Belgian Chocolate from La Belgian Gourmand and Belgian Beer from the Irish Pub called Celtica!

It's day 1 in Brussels and the best way to become acquainted with Belgium is to taste as much food as possible! Before we booked travel plans to Belgium we'd been told by so many people how incredible Brussels was, it's a destination that's been on our must travel list for so long now. It made sense that a DIY food tour was in order to taste our way around the city and see if Belgian food lives up to it's reputation... thats a firm yes. It totally does.
The first thing we noticed is Brussels is a stunning city and quickly has become one of our favs. Todays vlog is all about the food of Belgium and Brussels but the next few vlogs will show more of our adventures as we travel more of the city exploring the various sites and see what really makes Brussels tick.

3 large onions
1-1.2 kg of beef or pork meat, cut into large dices (let's say around 2 cm x 2 cm)
2-3 bottles of dark Belgian beer (preferably Leffe - 2 or 3 depends on how much you need to submerge the meat when you cook the sauce)
2 tablespoons of sirop de Liege / Luikse siroop (you can order it with worldwide shipping here: or at any Belgian store in the country you live)
2 slices of dark bread
2 tablespoons of mustard
2 bay leaf
1 clove
pinch of salt, pepper, thyme
How to prepare the dish:
*Peel and roughly chop the onions
*Heat a large stew and melt a knob of butter in it. Stew the onions in it over medium heat. Do not brown the onions.
*Heat a frying pan (STICKY KIND) over medium to high heat and melt a knob of butter in it, as well as olive oil so that it is 50/50 butter/olive oil.
*Sear the pieces of meat in the frying pan until they have a golden brown crust. Season the meat during baking with some ground pepper and a pinch of salt. It is best to fry a large amount of meat in several batches (to avoid releasing too much moisture, in which case you will cook the meat instead of searing it).
*Put the pieces of meat in the stew with onions.
*Deglaze the frying pan by pour in the brown beer and stirring it until all of the meaty pieces come off the pan and until the beer is boiling
*Once the beer is boiling, pour the entire contents of the pan into the meat stew. (Never pour cold beer directly onto the meat.) The meat has to be submerged in the Leffe. Add the bay leaves, thyme and let them cook in the pot.
*Add the clove (forgot to mention this in the video) and the apple-pear syrup (sirop de Liege).
*Generously spread a large slice of brown bread with sharp mustard. Place in the pot, on top of the meat, with the mustard-covered side down.
*Let simmer for 1 to 3 hours (1 for pork, more for beef) on medium heat until the meat is tender. Keep the lid OFF the jar until the sauce has a good thickness (stir frequently to avoid burning the meat). Then put the lid on after that so that the meat just cooks in the sauce. Stir regularly and check regularly.

Trying Belgian food in Bruges and Ghent!???????? Chocolate, fries, waffles and more
Belgian food is goddamn phenomenal - beer, chocolate, fries, biscuits, waffles... it's a GIANT YUM FROM ME.
I visited Bruges (bloody stunning) and Ghent (a straight up fairy-tale) and tried some deeeeeelish local food.
Yes I filmed this in December and yes it's getting uploaded now.
A lil note on COVID-19: Obviously don't travel right now. Don't be a dickhead. But I filmed all these videos last year and haven't had time to edit them so I'm still publishing them now. Just something fun to watch until we can all travel again. x

We had so much fun in Ghent. What an amazing city. If you're looking for things to do in Ghent look no further. We try the best Belgian Food from fries, to waffles to delicious beer. Come explore the city with us.
In this vlog, we spent the day exploring Guent, a city full of history, culture, great food, and of course, Beer. The old city of Ghent (in Flemish Gent; in French Gand) is a picturesque muddle of alleyways rimmed by quaint steeple-roofed buildings running along pretty canals. Along with Bruges, Ghent is Belgium's star architectural attraction, but unlike Bruges, it comes without the tour bus hordes. A walk through town on a summer's evening, when most of the important buildings are illuminated, is an unforgettable experience, as is a canal boat ride down the many branches of the Scheldt and Leie Canals that intersect the city. For history-lovers and architecture fans, Ghent can't be beaten, plus its lack of tourists makes it a great place to get to grips with modern local Flemish culture.

Ghent is a port city in northwest Belgium, at the confluence of the Leie and Scheldt rivers. During the Middle Ages it was a prominent city-state. Today it’s a university town and cultural hub. Its pedestrianized center is known for medieval architecture such as 12th-century Gravensteen castle and the Graslei, a row of guildhalls beside the Leie river harbor.
One of the great things about this city (the third most populous in Belgium, with 250,000 inhabitants) is that it’s managing to reinvent itself at the edges. Parts of the city centre are now awash with rib joints and places offering the waterzooi chicken soup – the famous local speciality that nobody actually makes at home – but young people are starting up new bars and clubs in outer neighbourhoods such as Sint-Amandsberg, Gentbrugge and Muide.
Mostly known for its key role in European Union administration, the small nation of Belgium might leave you surprised by its rich and gorgeous heritage. It boasts a number of fascinatingly historic cities packed with medieval and Art Nouveau architecture and famous for their long traditions in arts, fashion and fine dining. First Impressions of Brussels, Belgium (food tour included)
Welcome to our Brussels travel vlog! Join us as we explore the vibrant heart of Belgium's capital city. We start our adventure by taking a tram to the center and arriving at the breathtaking La Grand-Place, one of the most captivating squares in all of Europe.
As the rain starts to pour, we take shelter in a beautiful arcade filled with chocolate shops. Of course, we have to indulge in some of the most delectable treats in the city. Then we are on a mission to find the most visited attractions in Brussels, Manneken and Janneken Pis, Belgium's unofficial national symbols.
Then we make our way to Delirium Village, where we sample a variety of delicious beers on tap, including some of the famous Delirium brews. No trip to Brussels is complete without trying the classic mussels and fries, but we save room for the equally famous Belgian fries and, of course, the mouth-watering Belgian waffles.
