GIZA PYRAMIDS of EGYPT - GUIDED TOUR and VLOG

In this vlog, we travel to Egypt to explore the last remaining site of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Giza Pyramids! When we step onto the Giza Plateau, we are awestruck by the size and magnitude of the pyramids and the mythical Great Sphinx. Our guide is an Egyptologist and gives us a guided tour of one of the greatest testaments to human achievement.

The pyramids were built nearly 5,000 years ago for the great kings of ancient Egypt. So many questions come to mind when we visit the pyramids - how were they built, who built them, and what was inside the chambers? Some of the answers we may never know....

2021 Guide to PYRAMIDS OF EGYPT and Sphinx - Avoid scammer Cairo GIZA

Top 3 Scams You’ll Run Into At The Pyramids Of Giza & How To Avoid Them

The Egyptian Pyramids are a symbol known worldwide to the old and young alike. Standing majestically tall as a testament to the prosperity of the ancient Egyptian civilization, the pyramids welcome 14.7 admirers to their grounds every year.

To those who visit, the pyramids act as a portal into history. Being from Rome myself, I understand what it means to grow up and live steeped in tales of the past and surrounded by ruins of once-glorious monuments. Something unique about it reaches into your soul and connects you through a spiritual line to your ancestors and those gone before you.

However, the pyramids stand out. There’s something mesmerizing about them with their unique sense of mystery and unparalleled wonder. You simply stand and stare at their lofty sides and grand peaks in awe.

While you’re doing this, there’s a lot of hustle-bustle around you. Noise, movement, people zipping every which way, and it can get overwhelming – fast. Especially if you’re not familiar with the area. This is when the danger of being scammed arises.

If you’re not prepared, your dream trip can turn into a nightmare. Taxi drivers conspiring with rogue sellers to get a commission; touts trying to sell you a statue or papyrus for extortionate prices. You might even meet the odd seller or two who’ll give you a nice upfront price and charge you three times as much after!

While it’s not prevalent, it’s just present enough that you need to be aware of it.

So, let’s take a look at some of the most common scams you might run into. We’ll go through the signs to look out for and how to avoid them.

The most common scams you’ll run into at the pyramids

You could come across the first scam before you even get to the pyramids. It’s important not to fall at this hurdle because a domino effect of scams could follow shortly behind if you do.

If you’re not traveling with a tour, you’ll likely reach the pyramids by taxi.

Without thinking, it’s tempting to just flag down a street cab, negotiate a price, and then go.

After driving through Cairo traffic for a while, the pyramids appear on the horizon. As you continue on, you can feel them getting closer. THEN suddenly, the taxi takes a turn, and before you know it, you’re stopped on an unknown street surrounded by horse and camel barns.

It’s here that the taxi driver will inform you that the only way to get to the pyramid’s entrance is by horse carriage. Subsequently, he’ll invite you into a dingy office where a suspicious co-conspirator will offer you outrageously expensive trips. For this, the taxi man will walk away with a share of whatever you pay.

How do you avoid this?

The simple answer is Uber. It’s my go-to service no matter where I’m going in Cairo, and the price is thankfully fixed. Be sure to demand to be dropped off at an official ticket booth and accept no other suggestions.

Overcharging Camel Rides

The freedom and fun of riding a camel at the Giza pyramids are irresistible. You’ll be surrounded by other’s enjoying the ride and will likely be tempted to follow suit. However, there’s one thing you need to keep in mind before mounting.

While most ride vendors are honest, you’ll find a few bad apples among them. So, it’s essential that you’re sure of a fixed price before you sit down atop the camel. Be sure to repeat the fixed price many times and determine whether the vendor is dealing with you in Euro or Eqyptian Pound. You may agree on a price in Egyptian Pound only to be told after that it should be Euro. If all fails, bring paper and a pen with you to write it down in front of the seller.

Bonus: 400 to 500 Egyptian pounds is a reasonable price for a standard camel ride. You shouldn’t agree to pay more unless you have special requirements or want to keep the ride for your entire visit.

No Access To The Pyramids

Before you think that there’s a one-size-fits-all ticket for the pyramids, think again. There are actually 2 tickets: one for the Giza Plateau and the other to the inside of the Great Pyramid.

Whether you’re buying from a tour agency or a third party, it’s imperative that you tell them you want an inside ticket if that’s what you’re after. Otherwise, you could end up paying extra charges to get into the pyramids on-location. The guide may even prevent you from entering the pyramids, claiming they’re closed simply because they don’t want to go in.

And there you have it, the scams to keep an eye out for on your trip. If you can avoid all of the above-listed dangers, you’re in for the journey of your life! Have fun!

The Great Pyramids of Giza during Covid

We visited the Pyramids of Giza!!!!
Still can't believe this happened.
Egypt's pharaohs expected to become gods in the afterlife. To prepare for the next world they erected temples to the gods and massive pyramid tombs for themselves—filled with all the things each ruler would need to guide and sustain himself in the next world.
Way before the valley of the kings, that was during the new kingdom, in the old kingdom Ancient Egyptians Pharaohs built pyramids as their burial place.
The largest pyramid here in Giza was built 4.500 years ago as a tomb for the pharaoh Kuhfu from the 4th dynasty.
It’s estimated that 2.3 million blocks of rocks were used to build it.
The second largest pyramid was built for the tomb of pharaoh Khafre son of Kuhfu also from the 4th dynasty
His necropolis also included the Sphinx, a mysterious limestone monument carved entirely from 1 piece of rock with the body of a lion and a pharaoh's head.
The Sphinx may stand sentinel for the pharaoh's entire tomb complex.
The third pyramid was built for the tomb of the pharaoh Menkaure also from the 4th dynasty.
Each massive pyramid is but one part of a larger complex, including a palace, temples, solar boat pits, and other features.
There are smaller pyramids within the giza pyramid complex belonging to queens (pharaohs wives), daughters and higher elites, in total there are 9 Pyramids there, 6 small one and the 3 big ones.
The first pyramid built in Egypt was none of these 3 tho, in fact there were quite a few pyramids built before these but they got so much more attention because it’s the largest complex of Pyramids.
It’s still fairly unknown exactly how they built these magnificent buildings some theories even say it was the aliens ???? we personally think ancient civilisations were so much more advanced than what we probably are today even with all the technology we have we still don’t know how they built it so it proves something.
Many think the pyramids were built by slaves but in fact they were very skilled, paid workers, well fed and there was even a temporary village here somewhere for the workers and their families, upon digging the village it was revealed a highly organised community, rich with resources, that must have been backed by strong central authority.
Somewhere in the 11hundreds a sultan of Egypt decided he wanted to destroy or demolish the pyramids and send workers to start taken them down starting of course with the smaller one but it was very difficult and after 8 months they were only able to remove a few rocks making the job very expensive so they FORTUNATELY stop but we can still see a few rocks missing there.
We were staying in downtown Cairo and took an Uber to the Pyramids, it costed us less than 80 Egyptian Pounds and took 30min.
We advise everyone to go in the morning and take some snacks to be able to see everything without rushing, we went after lunch and were left with 4 hours to visit the complex and we felt it was not enough even tho we saw everything we could have easily spend the full day there.
Another advise we can give is take plenty of water because it gets really hot and we didn't see anyone selling water inside the complex.
On the way back to downtown Cairo we got a taxi and negotiated the price - 100 Egyptian Pounds, it took us a little over than 2 hours because the traffic was a nightmare.

Alright, so the day started at the Hotel lobby:

There were private tours available from the hotel but they cost upward of USD 150 and there was no way I was going to pay that, so, I decided to step out and figure it out as I go towards Egyptian Pyramids. The city life outside had already started and I was greeted with a lot of traffic. Well, since I am from India, this wasn't something that surprised me! :D But what did surprise me, was this:

Now I don't mind the odd adventure, but having no idea about how much the transport might cost and also the fact that I didn't wanna risk getting stuck in a traffic jam, I decided to walk a few mins to a nearby Metro station -- which, by the way, is marked in red by the big M. The train was comfortable, air conditioned and fast. Before I knew it, I was already there:

The white cars are actually mini buses and to be honest, no one really bothered me while I passed them. A 2 min walk from the station was the main road, now all I had to do was cross over to the other side and head in the direction of the Pyramids. I decided to take one of these mini buses. The Egyptian Pyramids were around 4 kms away at this point of time..I was feeling all pumped and then this happened:

So, it was a straight road from the station that leads to the pyramids and cuz they're so huge, you can see them right from the streets. Right in this moment when I was in the middle of traffic, I wondered how it must be for the locals living around the Pyramid complex..I mean, they had this view EVERYDAY while they went about their daily chores! A few mins walk from this point and I was at the Egyptian Pyramid complex entrance ticket office.

I cannot explain the feeling I had once I was inside the complex...all these years, looking at pictures and reading stories from the pyramids and today, I was here, Finally! In fact, I even ended up putting some words together!

The way to the Sphinx leads via a small temple. It was interesting to know that the huge stones are just kept on top of each other without any adhesive material in between them.

The Sphinx (like the pyramids) is a favorite photo point of many tourists. I was stunned to know that the entire body was made from 1 single stone!

Distance from the Sphinx to the Egyptian Pyramids takes 10 mins on foot and it's perfectly walkable. The closer I got to the pyramid, the more massive it appeared!

I have to admit, from a distance Egyptian Pyramids look like many small bricks stacked together, but while I was at the base, I was stunned to see the size of the stones! Some of them were almost 2 meters in height and it was so steep and huge that I couldn't even see the top while at the base.

The more I walked around, the more dwarfed I felt by the sheer size of the Egyptian Pyramids! It was just amazing!

My visit to Egypt was extremely spontaneous, so much that I didn't know that I was going to be there till maybe 48 hrs before the trip. Overall, I am glad that I could do this on a budget and without falling for any of those many tourist scams. Speaking of budget, the metro ride each side was LE 5, the mini bus each way was LE 3, entrance ticket to the Pyramid complex was LE 120. I also had to buy an additional ticket of LE20 for the camera and tripod. So, that's approx LE 160 which equates to less than $10. Having said that, I didn't have a guide, I explored the complex on foot and I was using public transport, well, for me it was fine and it wasn't uncomfortable at all.

Avoid This Man! Cairo Market Scam ???????? عملية احتيال بازار القاهرة

As soon as I had got out the taxi I was approached by a friendly man offering to show me the way to the market.
Which makes me think, maybe the taxi driver was in on it and had somehow texted this guy to let him know I was coming and to meet me on my way there. Maybe that's just a speculation, but look how fast he found me.

SURREAL, Alone at the Giza Pyramids, EGYPT!

#Egypt #Nomadikfootprints #AlexandrePajaud #Cairo #Pyramid #Gyzeh #Gyza

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi everyone,

Here are some dated footage from Cairo, Egypt. I spent a few days in 2017 in the Egyptian capital, during Ramadan.Cairo is busy, really busy. But at the time of the year, I found myself kind of alone, with the Pyramids as friends. No one was there. I visited the Great Pyramids of Gyza,

The Pyramid of Cheops (also called the Great Pyramid or Pyramid of Khufu) is the largest pyramid of the Giza group, and its interior of narrow passages can be explored, although there isn't much to see, except a plain tomb chamber with an empty sarcophagus.

Farther south on the plateau is the Pyramid of Chephren (also known as the Pyramid of Khefre), with an internal tunnel area, which can be entered, and the smaller Pyramid of Mycerinus (Pyramid of Menkaure). Guarding these mortuary temples is the lion-bodied and pharaoh-faced Sphinx; one of the ancient world's iconic monuments.

My last visit in this sight was the Grand Egyptian Museum, where I found some mummies and it was just amazing to see them from my own eyes.

During evening times, I walked around Cairo, where everyone was meeting during the Iftar, and during this time, roads were just empty, which is so surprising as during regular times, it is overcrowded.

Enjoy!

Haram Street to the Pyramids, with side view - Driving in Cairo/Giza, Egypt ????????

If you enjoy the video, please like, comment and subscribe, I appreciate it, thank you

Hey folks, driving in Cairo is interesting to watch. It is never boring on the streets of Cairo. For more information subtitles in different languages are available. If you have suggestions or feedback just leave a comment, thank you.

The Haram Street is round about 8 km long and connects Cairo (from el Manial) with the Pyramids plateau. Also Giza - Fayoum Road and Cairo - Alexandria Desert Road starts next to the Pyramids plateau.

You have to watch out for walking people, taxis, toktok's and espcecially for (white) microbuses. Their behavior is unpredictable and it can lead to a disaster. Otherwise is driving in Cairo, Egypt a funny and enjoyable thing.

Giza
Giza is the second-largest city in Egypt after Cairo and fourth-largest city in Africa after Kinshasa, Lagos and Cairo. It is the capital of Giza Governorate with a total population of 8.8 million as of October 2018. It is located on the west bank of the Nile, 4.9 km (3 mi) southwest of central Cairo, and is a core city of the Greater Cairo metropolis. Giza lies less than 30 km (18.64 mi) north of Memphis, which was the capital city of the first unified Egyptian state from the days of the first pharaoh, Narmer
Giza is most famous as the location of the Giza Plateau, the site of some of the most impressive ancient monuments in the world, including a complex of ancient Egyptian royal mortuary and sacred structures, including the Great Sphinx, the Great Pyramid of Giza, and a number of other large pyramids and temples. Giza has always been a focal point in Egypt's history due to its location close to Memphis, the ancient pharaonic capital of the Old Kingdom. Its St. George Cathedral is the episcopal see of the Coptic Catholic Eparchy of Giza.

The city of Giza is the capital of the Giza Governorate, and is located near the northeast border of this governorate. The city's population was reported as 2,681,863 in the 2006 national census, while the governorate had 6,272,571 at the same census, without specifying what the city is. The former figure corresponds to the sum of 9 kisms.

Technically, Giza may not be an incorporated municipal unit, and therefore not a city at all. In a typical Egyptian fashion, there are two districts within the Governorate with the same name: a kism/qasm and associated markiz. Some 9 urban kisms of Giza Governorate form collectively a contiguous area of 98.4 km2 on the Nile directly opposite Cairo, and recorded a preliminary count of 4,146,340 in 2017 census count, not including the Al-Ḥawāmideya kism separated by Giza markiz. It is unclear if the 9 urban kisms represent a single entity; the structure may be similar to that of 23 wards of Tokyo in that all local units are simply subordinate to the Prefecture of Tokyo without any intermediate municipal structure.

As Muslims of the fledgling Islamic caliphate went on with their conquest of Egypt from the Byzantine Empire beginning in 639 AD, three years after their victory at the battle of Yarmouk in 636 AD, they conquered all of the land by the time they have captured the city of Alexandria in 641 AD. A year later in 642 AD (year 21 in Islamic calendar), they founded the city of Giza. Its name, al-Jizzah in Arabic, means the valley or the plateau, pertaining to the area's topography. Peust also suggests a Persian etymology of the word from Middle Persian diz (fortress, castle), which Persians could give to the pyramids or a fortress they've found in the area.

Access to the city of Giza, which has its own governorate adjacent to the Governorate of Cairo, is dependent on the Cairo International Airport.

We visited the Egyptian Pyramids! | Pyramids of Giza

Visiting the Pyramids of Giza is one of our top lifetime travel achievements or bucket list. The pyramids left us speechless and we felt a little emotional when we saw them with our own eyes. It is difficult to describe how magnificent they are.

We spent the whole morning in the Giza plateau. Still can't help to marvel at the beauty of these pyramids because they are gorgeous from every angle.

The Pyramids of Giza is the only old Seven Wonders of the World still standing. The Great Pyramid (Pyramid of Khufu) is so huge. We can’t even see the top when we stand beside it! Can you imagine how ancient people stack all these massive stones to build this pyramid?
