BEST FOOD IN BUENOS AIRES - PUERTO MADERO & PALERMO SOHO!

In this video we take a quick wander around Costa Nera park in Buenos Aires, before exploring more of what Puerto Madero has to offer. On our way to see the famous bridge - Puente de la Mujer, Craig spots his new favourite restaurant in Buenos Aires - Juan Bautista, it’s a really great restaurant but not if you’re vegetarian!

Afterwards we take a walk across Puente de la Mujer and head to enjoy the views from the other side with a quick cocktail before getting an Uber back to where we are staying in Palermo. After dodging a quick rain shower we head out to find a little more information on the popular Argentine drink Yerba Mate, we have been fascinated by how everyone drinks this everywhere in this country and were so pleased to learn how it works, maybe during our time here we’ll get to try some!

We finish the day with the tastiest meal in a beautiful restaurant in Palermo Soho and of course a glass of Malbec!

Driving in ARGENTINA After 20+ Years! ???? ???? | ROAD TRIP to the Sierras of Cordoba, Argentina ????????

It's road trip time! In this episode we say goodbye to Buenos Aires, hop on an early morning flight to Cordoba, and pick up a rental car to drive up to the Sierras. This was my dad's first time driving in Argentina after 20+ years and it was my first time navigating us out of the city and towards the mountains, so we were both a bit nervous. However, once we go out of the city traffic and into the countryside, we could finally relax a bit and enjoy the scenery.

Along the way we stopped to pick up some supplies for the week (you've gotta haul those groceries up the mountain when you're staying in a super rural setting!), and then we settled into our cottage and enjoyed a nice casual meal with empanadas, sandwiches and pastries.

It was the perfect welcome back to the province of Cordoba, and we'll be seeing you soon with some new travel vlogs from this lovely province!

Café Tortoni - Iconic French-style cafe in Buenos Aires, Argentina Travel Video Transcript:

Cafe Tortoni first opened its doors in 1858, and it was named after a Parisian cafe by the same name.

The place gained great notoriety in the mid-1920s when it was frequented by a mix of writers, painters, musicians, poets, journalists, philosophers, inventors, and other creative minds.

Today it's a must-visit cafe for visitors passing through Buenos Aires.

Where are we? Well for today's meal we are at Café Tortoni. Which is one of the oldest and most famous cafeterias in the whole city. I think locals would probably tell you this is very touristy, because it is only tourists with their cameras sitting in here, but regardless it is a place I think you should visit. Like the architecture is really cool. The furniture is kind of like frozen in time. And also they make a pretty good hot chocolate. That's what I've got right here. I ordered chocolate con churros. Let me use this other hand. Let me use my strong hand...hahaha

That is a big thing of coffee. Is that cream beside it too? Yeah and I got frothy milk on the side. But look at how thick that is. There is like some chocolate chunks in there.

And I ordered that with churros. Which is kind of like a long strip of dough that has been deep-fried. Yeah, it is kind of like a deep-fried Spanish doughnut. Yeah, and it has granulated sugar sprinkled on top. And they've put a lot in here. And of course, you have to dip it in the chocolate. It has to be done. It is the only way to go. That is my lunch today guys. Hot chocolate. Healthy.

Mmmmm. That is good. I almost wish you could use this as a straw to drink the hot chocolate.

But this is actually one of their specialties here. They have two specialties of the house. One is called leche merangada which we've ordered. But this is really good. I can see why it is one of the suggested dishes. So yeah, look at that. Look at how is soaks up the chocolate. It is like a sponge inside. Like a thick sponge. Mmmm.

And I've gone for the tostada. And that is basically a sandwich that has tomato, ham and cheese. And it is like a grilled cheese sandwich. Yeah, but this is premium because of the ham. Yeah, so it is usually just ham and cheese but this one is called tostada Tortoni just because they've added the tomato.

So we also ordered something called leche merengada because it is one of their other specialties here. But from the description I thought it was going to be milk that tastes like meringue. But that looks like ice cream. Yeah, it does. It looks like there is cinnamon sprinkled over it. Ooh.

So it should taste like meringue unless they've mixed up our order. And we wouldn't know.

Yeah, it is kind of like ice cream. Is it meringue flavored ice cream? Yeah, it is. Okay, and the cool thing is that there is so much cinnamon put on top. And I mean I love cinnamon. I can smell it from here. From across the table.

And that came with a little wafer. I'm going to get another bite with my spoon.

So yeah it is a pretty cool place to stop for a little snack. I can see why that is the house specialty. I'm guessing that is homemade. Definitely tastes homemade.

Okay, so we've polished everything off. Yes, except for the milk because we don't want to dilute our chocolate. And here is the bill.

It came to 299 and that included the chocolate churros, the balon which is the beer, the merengada which is the ice cream and tostada tortoni which of course was the sandwich. So that is a little bit pricey. Touristy prices here. But you know what still not that bad. That is like $20 US dollars for four items on the menu. Yeah, and you're paying for the ambiance. Yes, you are.

Visiting La Cumbrecita, Cordoba + Eating German Food in Argentina

Come join us in as we sample eating German food in Argentina while visiting La Cumbrecita, Cordoba. Having an opportunity to revisit La Cumbrecita, a small town where Audrey spent some years growing up, was one of the highlights of our return trip to Argentina. In this video we show you what the small town of La Cumbrecita is all about in terms of attractions, major landmarks and things to do.

For our meal we end up trying German Food. There is a big population of German, Swiss and Austrian Argentines in this particular region of Cordoba, Argentina. With this in mind you can have some of the best German food in Argentina while visiting this region. We'd highly recommend bringing an appetite as German cuisine tends to be quite hearty.

Visiting La Cumbrecita, Cordoba + Eating German Food in Argentina:

Hey guys! We are Samuel and Audrey, a travel vlogging couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world.

We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country.

We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey's parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba visiting both La Cumbrecita and Villa General Belgrano with highlights including hiking and delicious German and Swiss cuisine.

From Cordoba, we then travelled a considerable distance on an overnight bus to Mar Del Plata just in time for a special food festival called Feria Masticar featuring the best of Argentine food and wine. We spent several days enjoying beaches and seafood before heading south to Patagonia to visit the province of Chubut.

While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina.

Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival.

We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey's dad again.

To finish off our trip in Argentina, we spent more time in the capital and later Mendoza where we got to experience wine tourism to its fullest extent. Overall, we had an amazing time travelling around Argentina having only scratched the surface of this vast and diverse country.

Overall our Argentina travel series explores cities, small towns that are off-the-beaten-path, and scenic attractions with a strong emphasis on Argentina cuisine and local culture.

THE SCULPTED FOREST of Patagonia, Argentina ???? | Where Burnt Trees Were Turned to Art in El Bolson

Come join us as we visit the sculpted forest of Patagonia, Argentina where burnt trees were turned into art in El Bolson. When it comes to hiking in El Bolson this is a must-visit attraction. The views you get of the city are simply spectacular and on top of that the wood carvings are very impressive.

The easiest way to reach Bosque Tallado is to take a mini-van which will bring you up the serpentine rural roads to the start of the trail and then pick you up several hours later. After enjoying the wood carvings you can continue hiking to a refugio where you can enjoy a nice snack along with some beverages.

Overall, if you're visiting El Bolson this is something we highly recommend. Also, if you're into paragliding this is the area you'll want to visit for an adrenaline filled adventure! No wonder El Bolson is one of our favorite towns in Patagonia.

We're off to El Chaltén! In this episode, we'll say goodbye to El Calafate where we got to witness countless glaciers including the world-famous Perito Moreno, and we'll continue to another popular destination in Patagonia. The town of El Chaltén is located inside Los Glaciares National Park and it is the trekking capital of Argentina. You come to this destination to hike and enjoy the raw, natural beauty of the place. We made the journey from El Calafate to El Chaltén by bus (roughly 3.5 hours) and it was very scenic! Once we got settled in the hotel, we explored a bit of the town and also did an easy sunset hike to Mirador De Los Condores which is at the entrance of the town and offers really nice views of El Chalten. Stay tuned for the next few episodes for some epic trekking adventures!

Sweet & Sugary ARGENTINE BREAKFAST at a Cafe in Argentina | Esquel, Chubut

Come join us in Esquel, Argentina for a sweet and sugary Argentine breakfast at a cafe called María Castaña. Breakfast in Argentina tends is always more tilted towards sugary and sweet than it is savoury. However, instead of opting for a typical toast and medialuna combination we went even more decadent opting for cakes and pancakes! We ended up ordering for breakfast two coffees with milk (cafe con leche), a piece of chocolate cake with dulce de leche and whipped cream, a waffle with dulce de leche, cream and chocolate bits, an alfajor and our only savory item a tostada with ham and cheese. Overall, it was a delicious and very decadent Argentinian breakfast in Esquel. This is the type of breakfast you'd only have on a special occasion.

Sweet & Sugary ARGENTINE BREAKFAST at a Cafe in Argentina | Esquel, Chubut:

Merienda: Afternoon Tea for two in Buenos Aires, Argentina Travel Video Transcript:

So it is five PM here in Buenos Aires which means it is tea time or as we call it here it is Merienda time. So, we're at a little place called La Biela. This is a really famous cafe across from the Recoleta Cemetery. We've got a table, we've ordered our food.

And a special surprise should be coming. I'm not going to tell you what Merienda consists of until it gets here.

So apparently this place used to be a really popular hangout with race car drivers and celebrities who are into racing back in the 30's. So you can kind of get a feel for that in the decor. They have a lot of dated cars and tools on the walls. And you can even see that on the napkin. They've got like a little race car. Look at that fancy napkin. Some tools. La Biela. Fancy. And apparently La Biela is the name of a tool that you use to work on cars.

So have a look over here. Um, this meal that we ordered it comes with two croissants. So we'll be sharing those. These are called medialunas. And they are sweet buttery media lunas. I love these. And it also comes with a tostado jamon y queso. Which is a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. Yeah, those are really good. We've been having a lot of those in Buenos Aires. Yeah, so super thin, lightly toasted. They are kind of your staple snack sandwich in Argentina, aren't they?

Oh yeah. That's good. Just a very thin layer of ham and cheese. Super light. Like I could probably eat ten of these I mean they are so thin and light.

So I guess technically we should be calling this coffee time not tea time. Because neither of us is having tea. Well, in Argentina - especially in Buenos Aires - coffee seems to be a bit more popular than tea.

And now we actually come to appreciate good quality coffee. It is funny.

And next up we have this sweet medialuna. Let me just break it in half so you can have a look in there. Look at how fluffy that is. Mmmm.

And our order came with three different slices of pastries, cakes, pies, whatever you want to call it. Sweet treats.

So why don't we explain what there is. So this one here has chocolate and I think kind of a cracker filling with dulce de leche.

And over here we've got it appears to be like kind of a slice of apple pie. But what is cool about this pie is that it has like a white glaze. A glaze over top of it. Some extra sugar in there. No complaints about that.

And last but not least we have this. So that is called Pionono. It is a mini pionono. And it is kind of like a little roll with dulce de leche in the middle. Yeah, and anything with dulce de leche is a hit with us.

You know what, I don't know what we're going to do when we leave Argentina. Like when we can't get dulce de leche desserts anymore.

Okay, and now last but not least where is that pionono? Let's get a bite. Wow, you're really making me go on a roll here. No, help? I've had the croissants and I had the sandwich. Show us how it is done.

It is time to go now. Say bye Sam. Bye buddy. It has been a good experience. You do need to clean your teeth though. Yeah, he does. But anyways, let's talk about the price of that meal. Yeah, so it was just over 200 Pesos. So you're looking at roughly 13-14 US dollars. Fantastic value. All of the things we had were really high quality including the sandwich, the croissants, the cakes and all of the pastries. And good quality coffee on top that too. Everything was good. Everything was good. Come here.

This is part of our Travel in Argentina series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Argentine culture, Argentine cuisine, Argentine food, Argentinian food & Argentinian cuisine.

Classic Argentine Breakfast in Buenos Aires, Argentina: Eating Medialuna and Drinking Café Con Leche

Join us for a classic Argentine breakfast in Buenos Aires, Argentina where we try eating a plethora of medialuna (Argentine croissants) and drinking giant cups of café con leche (Argentine coffee with milk) at local restaurant Residente. Whenever we visit Buenos Aires, we tend to find a few local spots serving up great food and drinks at affordable prices. Resident cafe was exactly that and more. We also tried their lunch menu which was decent.

I ended up ordering the completo tostado which we called the greedy guts breakfast which came with toast, soda water, fresh squeezed orange juice, jam and cookies. Audrey grabbed the medialunas and cafe con leche. The cups of coffee are so big we felt like we were getting a 2-1 special and the quality of the coffee in Buenos Aires is second to none. Medialunas come in salty or sweet variety but we prefer the sweet one usually.

Price point for the breakfast came 350 Pesos which was $5.80 USD. What a bargain for such a feast! That actually included a second cup of coffee. We'd highly recommend this place for the intersection of great food and the right price.

Discover ARGENTINA: 10 INTERESTING FACTS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT IT

Argentina is a country located in South America and it covers most of the southern part of the continent. It is the world’s eighth largest country, and It has immense plains, deserts, tundra, and forests, as well as tall mountains, rivers, and thousands of kilometres of ocean shoreline. Argentina gets its name from the Latin word for silver which is “argentum”. Today, we will embark on a journey to discover this amazing country in 10 interesting facts you didn’t know about it.

The Spanish invaded the country in 1516 and colonized it for 300 years. In 1806, a British force overcame the Spanish military in Buenos Aires and raided the Falkland Islands, also known as the Malvinas Islands. Locals later reclaimed the capital, but never regained control of the Falkland Islands. These actions loosened Spain's grip over the country, and Argentina declared independence in 1816.

Juan Peron was elected president in 1946 as a result of his popularity among the working class. His wife, Eva (also known as Evita), established a foundation and distributed money and benefits to the underprivileged. She became a symbol of hope for all of Argentina's impoverished, and her death in 1952 was regarded as a major tragedy. Juan Peron was driven out of office three years later after attempting to expand his authority.

From 1976 until 1983, the country was embroiled in a civil war known as the dirty war. Over 30,000 people were slain or disappeared during this period. The country is now a democracy.

The Argentine flag is a triband of blue and white with a golden sun in the center. The flag was adopted in 1812, four years before Argentina won its independence from Spain in 1816. It is a light blue and white triband adopted by the leader of the Argentine revolution, Manuel Belgrano.

It depicts a blue sky splitting to reveal white clouds. According to legend, this is what happened in 1810 during a liberation demonstration in Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires. The country commemorates the history of its flag on June 20th, the date of Belgrano's death.

The golden sun in the center of the flag is known as the 'Sun of May,' and it depicts the Incan sun god, Inti. The May component of the name refers to the May Revolution of 1810, which marked the beginning of the movement for independence from the Spanish Empire.

Argentina, unlike many other South American countries such as Peru and Ecuador, has fewer indigenous people and a substantial population of European immigrants. Indeed, approximately 95 percent of Argentina's population is of European heritage, primarily from Italy, Spain, and Germany. Diseases brought in by Europeans in the 16th and 17th centuries killed a large portion of the indigenous population.

Buenos Aires is home to about half of the country's population. Because of its European influences, this lovely city is sometimes referred to as Paris of South America.
Argentina's favorite sport is football, and the country has produced some of the world's most famous players, including Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona.

Gauchos, like American cowboys, have become a symbol of the Pampas region's vast plains. Historically, they were bold – and often rowdy! – cowboys and cowgirls who spent their lives lassoing and raising cattle and horses.

Argentina is abundant in animal species. Elephant seals, fur seals, penguins, and sea lions live along Patagonia's coast. Sharks, orcas, dolphins, and salmon swim in the waters off the coast of North America.

Flamingos, toucans, turtles, tortoises, crocodiles, and caimans can all be found in Argentina's north! There are also numerous giant cat species, including the cougar, jaguar, and ocelot.
Patagonia is a sparsely populated region rich in natural resources and wildlife, such as herons, condors, pumas, tortoises, and guanacos, which are graceful animals related to llamas and alpacas.

The guanaco is a cute, grey-faced kind of camel that lives in South America, primarily in Argentina, at the end of the earth, Tierra del Fuego. They live in groups and are famed for their ability to withstand even the hardest conditions, such as South America's extremely dry Atacama desert. You may be better familiar with the name of the domesticated guanaco - the llama!
