The Best Things to Do on San Juan Island in Washington

Our trip begins by leaving from Anacortes and taking a ferry to San Juan Island in Washington. We started our trip by exploring Lime Kiln Point State Park where we hiked our way along the coast stopping to look through tidepools and of course take lots of pictures. We found an awesome place for a picnic where we saw sea kayakers & campers. We then made our way over to a beautiful lavender farm and gift shop before driving to the cattle point lighthouse where we hiked down to the beach. We ended our day walking around Friday Harbor and grabbing dinner before hopping back on the ferry for a beautiful sunset ride home!

Best Camping in Oregon

Check out excursions you can do on your trip at the link below:

Did you know that there’s a campground in Oregon so secluded that it only features six campsites, and that there’s another campground located near a two-mile-long volcanic fissure that goes 60 feet into the earth? The state of Oregon is one of the most diverse and beautiful within the greater United States, and this makes it a particularly popular state for campers. There are numerous incredible campgrounds within the boundaries of Oregon, and we’ll be taking a look at some of the very best in this video.

Some of the best places to camp in Oregon include Toketee Lake, the Green Mountain Campground, and Devil’s Lake State Recreation Area. Toketee Lake is located within Umpqua National Forest and features the venerable Toketee Lake Campground. This campground is only a few miles off from the Umpqua Hot Springs, which can be accessed by campers via a short walk along the North Umpqua Trail.

The Green Mountain Campground is one of the more secluded campgrounds located within the state of Oregon, and it features only six campsites! While these campsites don’t feature any hookups, the seclusion more than makes up for it. Finally, the Devil’s Lake Recreation Area is home to the Devil’s Lake Campground, which is the only coastal campground in Oregon that’s located within the boundaries of a city. Charming Ione and Metaline Falls, Washington

In the far reaches of NE Washington you will find the historic mining towns of Ione and Metaline Falls. These towns were founded around 1910 to house miners who worked in the Mammoth and Morning lead-zink mines.

Limestone mining for cement manufacturing was also a major employer. The cement companies closed in 1990 after 80 years of operation. Cement silos still dominate the Metaline Falls skyline.

Metaline Falls, definitely off the beaten path, has been named one of the 100 Best Small Arts Towns in America. It also was the site for filming The Postman (1997) starring Kevin Costner, Will Patton and Larenz Tate.

This sequence of videos and stills were captured with a Canon Vixia HFS-100 camera and edited with Microsoft Movie Maker and Adobe Premier CS6.

Where to Camp Near Metaline Falls, Washington! Some campgrounds have Sasquatch Reports in the area.

Deep in the Colville National Forest is a remote town that is nestled in some of the most rugged mountain terrain in the State of Washington. In the late 1800's it was covered by thick forests, a raging river, and mountains only gold prospectors would dare to traverse. So difficult for settlers that it became known as the last frontier in the lower 48 States.
This is where sightings of a hairy bipedal creature have been reported over the last 100 years!
Visit Metaline Falls, go camping, and have an adventure in the Colville National Forest. This video shows you where you can camp and what campgrounds have had reports and sightings of Sasquatch in the area. Of course - These are the official camping areas that have amenities and conveniences that most campers like, but make great base camps for those who like to go out and hike & explore the mountain ranges of the Selkirk's.
