Montmorillon, Vienne, France an introduction.

Welcome to Montmorillon in the Vienne department of France. My new home town and base for exploring regional France and all the fabulous things it has to offer. In this video I will show you an introduction to this fabulous place. You will find out about two of its most famous residents as well as information about the region itself. Come explore Montmorillon in this first of many videos of the town.

It's been months since I put out a video. So much has changed in the world due to the Covid19 Pandemic. But some parts of life are always changing so now I'm back and have changed Travelling Fabulously. We will now be exploring Regional France together with an emphasis on my new home town of Montmorillon in the Vienne region of France.

Is there any better way to travel then fabulously, I don't think so, that's why fabulous is my motto. My name is Andrew Prior and in 2013 I was a contestant on MasterChef Australia.

After leaving the show I set up Queenie's Food Tours in Melbourne which became the premier walking food tour company for four years. Then I moved to France in 2016 to do Paris tours and a Le Cordon Bleu cooking course.

Combined with some interesting facts, fun, crazy eye movements and a big belly we will explore, taste and discover things through my eye's, crazy yes but fun surely. Regional France has never been explored so fabulously then with me on Travelling Fabulously of course.

Subscribe to fabulousness by clicking the link below and make sure you hit the bell notification button so that each time I release a new video you will get an email.

French Food: 10 Must Try Dishes in Paris (For Foodies)

10 Must-Try Meals in Paris for foodies and travellers!

What’s up guys, welcome to another video by Goats On The Road. In this video, I’m going to be sharing with you a bit of French food.

My mouth is watering already. This is our pick of the top 10 must-try foods in Paris France.

We just returned from nearly a week in Paris and as foodies, we were blown away by the food here.

While we were in Paris, we met up with a famous chef for a private dinner, we learned about cheeses and wines from professional wine tasters and we sampled pretty much every French dish we could get our hands on in the short time we were there and I can’t wait to share with you our top 10 must-try dishes in the city.

1. Escargot (1:08)

I actually first got into Escargot when we went to Morocco for the first time back in 2011 and they were serving delicious escargot in a pepper broth on the streets. In Paris, it's even better!

2. Pastry (1:51)

From Profiteroles, Macaroons to Pan Ou Chocolate, Croissants and quiche, you really can’t miss the pastry while you’re visiting Paris.

Walking down the streets of the city, you’ll smell bread and pastry baking on many of the street corners and I almost guarantee that you won’t be able to resist tucking into one of the boulangeries to grab a bite.

If you’re heading to Paris, prepare yourself for some serious pastries and desserts. The French do them better than anyone.

3. Cheese & Wine (2:34)

If you’ve been following our blog for a while then you’ll know that Dariece and I love cheese and wine.

If you’re a cheese and wine-lover like us, I recommend checking out the Food and Wine Tasting Tour in an Old Wine Cave.

This is an Airbnb Experience set in a cave in the basement of one of the oldest buildings in Paris.

Book Here:

4. Beef Bourguignon (3:15)

This hearty beef stew should be on every omnivore's list of foods to try in Paris.

Bœuf à la Bourguignonne is a beef stew braised in red wine, often red Burgundy, and beef stock, generally flavoured with carrots, onions, garlic, and a bouquet garni, and garnished with pearl onions, mushrooms, and bacon.

5. Crepes (3:52)

The crepe is one of those iconic dishes that you really can’t miss while visiting Paris. We actually tried just one on the street and we weren’t too impressed with it, but apparently, Coffee Crepes is a super popular spot to get crepes in the heart of the 1st arrondissement, so next time we go we’ll definitely check those out.

6. Fallafel (4:34)

I know, this is a bit controversial to list falafel on a video about French food, and while this delicious vegetarian wrap may have originated in Egypt over 1000 years ago, a lot of people say that the best falafels on earth are found in Paris.

If you want to get delicious falafel in Paris, just head to Rue des Rosiers in the 3rd and you won’t be disappointed.

7. Duck Confit (5:28)

The duck confit that I had while in Paris was not only one of the best meals I had while in France, it was simply one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had.

If you’re looking for a great Duck Confit, head to Bistro Vict-wares in the 2nd arrondissement a couple of blocks north of the Louvre museum.

8. Market Food (6:02)

The French still rely heavily on fresh, seasonal produce to create their most prized dishes, so it’s no surprise that Paris still has some of the markets in the world.

One of the largest and liveliest in the city is the Bastille Market. Only open on Sundays and Thursdays from 7am to 3pm, this open-air market is the perfect place to head for lunch and some snacks.

9. French Onion Soup (6:38)

This was one of the things that Dariece promised herself that she had to order while she was in France and actually, we were both surprised at just how delicious a real French Onion Soup can be.

There’s a great little restaurant in the 5th Arrondissement near the Pantheon called La Coup De Torchon that does an excellent French Onion Soup.

Trust me, even if you’re not a big soup lover, you should order a French onion soup while you’re in Paris.

10. Steak & French Fries (7:14)

I guess you can tick two things off your list with this single meal because everyone who visits France obviously has to try French fries and pairing them with a delicious French steak is probably the best way to have them.

Driving 23 cities, 3000 Kilometeres in France

I few years back I got married and we decided to visit europe, after returning we made up our minds about going back and driving through France and I must say the experience was awesome!

Not only it is very safe to drive there but it also allowed us to change plans at any time, drive through a city and then drive through the night to find unexplored places, all the locals were very friendly (my wife is french so that helped) so we got a chance to visit the not so known places around france.

If you are visiting and have any questions let me know!

Some of the cities we visited:
Bordeaux
Dune du Pilat (forest and sea divided by a dune, awesome!)
Saint-Émilion (Wine anyone?)

The UNESCO World Heritage site of the Abbey Church of Saint-Savin is a small Romanesque-era church, attached to an abbey in western France. The Church of Saint-Austremoine d'Issoire is widely recognized as one of the most valuable Romanesque architecture examples in France. It is located in Issoire - a French commune in the department of Puy-de-Dôme.

Devoted to Saint-Austremoine, the French abbey church has both an imposing exterior and a rich frescoed interior. It is officially the largest Romanesque church in the Lower Auvergne region and also one of the most remarkable buildings in the southern Puy-de-Dôme area.

The Abbey Church of Saint Austremoine was built at the end of the 11th and beginning 12th centuries. Back then, the building was constructed on an earlier chapel raised over the tomb of St. Austremoine – one of the seven evangelists sent by the Pope to evangelize the Gau in the middle of the 3rd century.

The 12th-century temple has been classified as a historical monument since 1840 and underwent massive restoration works later through the 19th century.

What history brought to life and local authorities kept surviving until today is a masterpiece of the Romanesque art and one of the five major Romanesque churches of the Puy-de-Dôme region.

Large dimensions, rigorous geometry, harmonious architecture, and simplicity of ornamentation - this is truly the most refined example of #Romanesque art in this region of France.

The exterior of the Abbey Church has a remarkable basalt decoration recognizable for its abundance and its polychromy. Mosaic and tiles cover a large portion of the building, forming stunning geometric patterns and rosettes. The radiating chapels and the axial chapel are decorated with the twelve signs of the zodiac: symbols of the order and complexity of the Universe.
