Yekaterinburg , Russia 2023, This is a bit of a mixed bag in this vlog, of my time in Yekaterinburg, everything from the historical places to the mall for a Russian version of Macdonalds to looking around the supermarket to see whats on the shelves and whats not, everything looked the same as it was last time i was in Russia a few years ago, it didnt look like there was any shortages of anything.. after here my journey continued on another long train journey for 32 hours which may have been the most entertaining one lol..as always thanks for watching...

Continua il documentario sulla Transiberiana verso Pechino. In questo video il viaggio in treno da Ekaterinburg, verso il Lago Baikal e la località di Irkutsk. I 2 giorni e mezzo di viaggio sono utili per parlarvi un po' della vita a bordo del treno.. cosa fare in treno? cosa mangiare? Quanto costa il viaggio?
Viaggiare ti prende dentro, ti mostra il mondo e ti fa scoprire te stesso. Sia che voi amiate viaggiare da soli o in compagnia, low cost o quasi gratis, in treno, a piedi o in aereo.. Beh spero che possiate trarre ispirazione dai miei video e trovare qualche consiglio di viaggio utile per le vostre prossime avventure! Ex Base Militare di San Giovanni a Siliqua ~ Depositi Armi e Munizioni ~ 21 Novembre 2021 | Sardegna
Esploriamo i 13 depositi di armi e munizioni della Marina Militare alla polveriera di San Giovanni, una vera e propria città militare abbandonata all'interno della quale venivano assemblati i vari ordigni della Marina Militare Italiana. Attiva dagli anni ’30 al 1985, fù successivamente abbandonata e ad oggi è una delle mete preferite di chi la guerra la fa per gioco e di chi disegna sui muri.
Come ci piace ricordare, in mezzo al nulla c’è qualcosa. Ad esempio a pochi chilometri da Siliqua, tra la macchia mediterranea, c’è l’ex polveriera di San Giovanni. E’ una vera e propria città militare abbandonata, in passato deposito di armi e munizioni della marina militare e poi dell’esercito.
E’ stata attiva dagli anni ’30 del secolo scorso fino agli anni ’70, ma fino al 1985 era presente un presidio militare. Poi l’abbandono. Almeno per quanto riguarda le divise ufficiali, dato che l’area oggi è un punto di riferimento di altre divise, cioè di chi la guerra la fa per gioco, i softgunner. Ma anche di artisti più o meno bravi che si esprimono sui muri (anche se noi siamo dalla parte dei meno bravi: si veda il consueto spazio dedicato alle scritte oscene).
L’area, circa 80 ettari, occupa diversi edifici, quasi tutti ridotti a ruderi. Le case dove i militari vivevano con le loro famiglie, la casermetta dei carabinieri, un locale con le insegne della Marina, la grande palazzina degli alloggi dove hanno portato via persino i pavimenti, il lavatoio, il distributore del carburante e il grande bunker, ma anche la ferrovia, le casette, il campo di calcio, la cabina elettrica. Altri luoghi difficili da identificare in quanto spogliati completamente di ogni cosa: forse la mensa, la lavanderia, il circolo dei marinai. In pratica una piccola città.
Intorno al perimetro le garitte e le torrette da dove si sorvegliava e si controllava tutta l’area. E poi il vecchio tracciato ferroviario ormai privo di binari con la stazione, la sala scambio dei binari, l’edificio dello scarico merci e più avanti quello del carico merci .
Dietro la ferrovia vi sono i 13 depositi di armi e munizioni. Questi sono situati all’interno di aree protette da alti argini di contenimento al cui interno si accede tramite un arco in pietra. Gli edifici presentano i resti della gabbia Faraday costituita da un insieme di conduttori metallici incrociati che avvolgono tutta la costruzione e hanno una messa a terra. La gabbia serviva per la protezione dalle scariche elettriche atmosferiche.
A margine dell’area originaria la grande struttura dell’autoparco, dove dal soffitto penzolano come stelle filanti i ferri dei travetti, impossibili festoni che si inseriscono perfettamente in una scenografia surreale solo in parte creata dall’uomo.
All’interno di quest’area vi sono numerose discariche di materiali inerti, compreso l’amianto, e incredibilmente nessuna capra.
Ma quello che veramente colpisce attualmente è l’abbondante presenza di murales che hanno colorato questi edifici austeri e ormai spenti. Decine e decine di immagini sulle pareti: dai mostri immaginari che incombono sul visitatore alle scritte tipiche della street art, fino alle scritte più semplici, incerte e a loro modo poetiche: “ho fatto un incubo poi mi sono accorta di non essermi addormentata”, “Popota 6 la mia vita…il tuo cucciolo”, oscenità, insulti, svastiche e tutto ciò che può venire in mente facendo quattro passi in campagna tra i ruderi di una città militare abbandonata.

Lithuania’s Detached Paradise | Nida
A three day trip to the only part of Lithuania not connected by land.
We drove over to Klaipeda on the west coast of Lithuania and then boarded the ferry to the Curonian Spit. Half of the spit is owned by Lithuania, and half by Russia- the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad.
Our destination was Nida- the final Lithuanian town before the boarder with Kaliningrad.

Here I present an album of photographs of the city of Sverdlovsk taken in 1973. Today the city is also known by its pr-revolutionary name of Yekaterinburg
URBEX | We explore the dangerous abandoned asbestos mining village in the Cyprus mountains.
Last November we went to Cyprus and on one day we headed up the mountains to take a look at some places we had seen that may of been of interest via google maps. We found 3 places and this is the first.
Its a miners village for an asbestos mine that we think shut around 1996 and has been left abandoned ever since. Their did seem to be some form of patrols near by and certain roads where restricted access.
