Birding NE Brazil Part 11
This video covers Oct 18 to 20 2012, and starts with an early 250 km transfer from SESC Almenara (Minas Gerais) to Porto Seguro (Bahia). We arrived in time for lunch. After that we went biridng in the nearby Veracel Reserve, where some VERY important Target Birds can be found. We were rather lucky in that regard, and could return to our nice lodging in Porto Seguro.
Oct 19 was a whole day spent birding in Veracel Reserve, with just a dinner-brake and short tourist stroll in Porto Seguro. When afternoon crept up, we went back to Veracel Reserve for some early evening birding. Target birds were Nightjars and Owls, and we hade some success. We glimpsed 2 species of Nightjars and heard a Black-capped Screech Owl. Then we returned home for some sleep.
Oct 20 we had an early check-out and breakfast, then headed out of Porto Seguro for a 195 km transfer to Reserva Serra Bonita, close to the town Camacan. When we arrived there we started with lunch and check-in. While waiting for the food (and while eating it) we focused on the boistering life on the various feeders hanging along the porch.
When the food was devoured, and we had photographed the multitude of species frequenting the feeders, we took a little walk along the road and trails nearby. Even more new birds could be added to our check list.

This video covers October 15-16 2012, and begins in the wet parts of Boa Nova (Bahia). Here is lush forest, with many special birds, of which we saw many. Mostly no video footage, as usual (walking birders excepted), but quite a few inserted photos. The day after we had an early start, with a nice breakfast en route (where I found a Tetrio Sphinx Moth), before we went into northern Minas Gerais. We checked in at SESC Almenara at 1 PM, and had a short siesta. After that we made a trip around the premises and after that we crossed the road and went into a horse pasture. There we checked off some species on the bird list, before heading back for dinner and check-list.
