Hill Tribe Food!! WILD BANANA BLOSSOM with Lahu People - Mountain Village!

???? Hmong Hill Tribe Food:
???? Lanjia Lodge:
???? T-shirts and caps available now:

CHIANG RAI, THAILAND - Welcome to Lanjia Lodge ( in the Chiang Rai province of Northern Thailand. What’s amazing about Lanjia Lodge is that when you stay there, you are directly supporting two of the local Hill Tribe communities - a Hmong village and a Lahu village. Today, we’ve been invited for lunch at the home of the Lahu Shaman. Him and his family shared with us a local Lahu food meal, and it was spectacular.

But really quickly, who are the Lahu people? The Lahu are a people group who originally trace their ancestry back to southern China, Yunnan. In Thailand, the Lahu are known as one of the main Hill Tribes, often living in remote mountainous villages in Northern Thailand.

So today, we headed to the house of the local Lahu Shaman, where he and his family made lunch. There were a number of dishes, including, greens with pork, wild jungle banana blossom with pork, bamboo shoots, and finally rice steamed in a hollowed out log. It was a fantastic home cooked meal, and the dish that probably stood out the most to me was the wild banana flower blossoms - so milky and fresh. Additionally, similar to many Hill Tribes in Thailand, the traditional spoon is more like a natural spork, made from a joint of bamboo that can be used as a spoon, fork, and mini cup, all at the same time. One of the most convenient way to eat ever!

Huge thank you to Lanjia Lodge ( for arranging this. Highly recommended. The lodge is incredibly beautiful and relaxing. We loved our stay.

Thank you for watching this video!

Green Bamboo Curry!! VILLAGE THAI FOOD in Sukhothai, Thailand! ???????? บ้านนาต้นจั่น

???? Street Food Tour in Sukhothai:

Sukhothai - Ban Na Ton Chan (บ้านนาต้นจั่น), Thailand - Welcome to the amazing Ban Na Ton Chan (บ้านนาต้นจั่น) in Sukhothai, Northern Thailand! They have an amazing homestay program where you can arrange to stay and learn about the amazing culture and eat some incredibly delicious local home-cooked food! #Sukhothai #ThaiFood

Sukhothai is the ancient capital of Siam, and so there’s a lot of Thai culture and history here. Along with visiting the historical sites of Sukhothai ( I was very excited to learn more about the culture and especially eat authentic local Sukhothai Thai food.

After we arrived to Ban Na Ton Chan (บ้านนาต้นจั่น), we immediately went to check into our homestay where we were greeted by an amazing local early lunch. Among the spread of food, one of the highlights was barometer earthstar mushroom curry (แกงคั่วหมูเห็ดเผาะ), it was incredibly delicious. We ate, had some local durian, and then took a little rest before preparing the next meal!

Aunty was amazing, she went above and beyond to take care of us, and to cook us local food. In the afternoon we went to gather some fresh ingredients, including bamboo shoots, bitter melon leaves, and pea eggplant. Along with many other dishes, one of the main dishes Aunty cooked was a local style bamboo shoot curry (แกงหน่อไม้) ใบย่านาง), using mainly the fresh herbs and bamboo shoots that we harvested ourselves. She started with juice made from yanang ( leaves, which are common in certain regions of Thailand, often used for a curry broth. She then boiled the bamboo shoots, and added in an assortment of vegetables, mushrooms, herbs, spices, fermented fish sauce, and finally red ant eggs to finish it off. It was extraordinary!

For dinner we had an entire local Sukhothai Thai food feast - including the amazing bamboo shoot curry Aunty prepared, a chili dip made with egg, and an assortment of other delicious Thai food.

It was a learning experience, and so much fun to hang out with Aunty who was so kind and took such great care of us.

Ultimate HMONG HILL TRIBE FOOD!! Green Taro Stems + Roasted Duck at Shaman’s House!!

???? Eating an Alien Spiky Ball:
???? Lanjia Lodge:
???? T-shirts and caps available now:

CHIANG RAI, THAILAND - Welcome to Lanjia Lodge ( in the mountains, near the Mekong River, in the remote far northern province of Chiang Rai, Thailand. Lanjia Lodge is an eco lodge that supports the local hill tribe village community - and there are two main people ground, the Lahu, and the Hmong people.

While staying at Lanjia Lodge, we arranged one day to visit the Hmong village where the Shaman and his family invited us for a huge celebration local meal. Now I’ve had Hmong food before a number of times, but this was by far the most extensive and diverse Hmong meal I’ve ever had. Hmong are known for being hard workers, their amazing farm practices, and sometimes their simple - yet fulfilling food. It’s not uncommon to have a Hmong meal that includes boiled vegetables and rice. But today was something truly special and magnificent, a Hmong celebration feast!

Just to name a few of the dishes this amazing Hmong family made - roasted duck, pounded green taro stems, an herbal mixture with chicken organs, black chicken soup, boiled black chicken, boiled pumpkin, Hmong chili dip, and Hmong rice - which is a high mountain growing variety of Hmong rice.

We also had a chance to see some of the food being prepared. I was especially fascinated by the pounded green taro stems. I’ve had green taro stems before, but usually cooked. This was my first time to eat them raw and pounded into a chili dip. It was sensational, life changing to be honest.

The entire meal was outstanding, so fresh, so natural tasting - and quickly to mention that just about every single food we ate and ingredient was from the mountain grown and raised by them. The flavors were vibrant, everything tasted so natural and real. The black chicken was slightly chewy and full of flavor, the duck was marinated and roasted. And all the natural vegetables like the pumpkin were maximum sweetness. The chili dips were outstanding.

It was a meal I will never forget, and thank you to this amazing family for their hospitality!

Another great part of this Hmong village food experience is that by staying at Lanjia Lodge and by arranging local tours like this, you are able to directly support the community through community tourism.

Huge thank you to Lanjia Lodge ( for arranging this. Highly recommended. The lodge is incredibly beautiful and relaxing. We loved our stay.

Thank you for watching this video!

$1.52 Thai Plant Based Buffet! Can’t Stop Eating Cashew Chili Dip ????️ | Nan, Thailand

???? Healthy Thai Village Food:
Amazing Thai vegetarian food in Nan, Thailand!

NAN, THAILAND (น่าน) - Today for lunch we are in the beautiful northern Thailand province of Nan. We’re going to eat at a restaurant called Ban J บ้านเจ, which means house of vegan food.

The owner is so extremely friendly and will welcome you into the restaurant like family - and you really are eating at her house in the yard. She serves Thai Jay, or vegan food / plant based, although she had eggs on the menu today, so maybe it was an exception for the day.

Anyway, she has all the dishes set up at the front and it’s self service, you can choose all you want and eat all you want - buffet for 50 THB ($1.52) per person.

All the food was delicious, but I could not get enough of the chili dip with cashew nuts, which went perfectly with all the raw and blanched vegetables. Highly recommended, delicious Thai vegetarian / vegan food when you’re in Nan, Thailand.

MOST BIZARRE TEMPLE in Thailand! Plus Chiang Rai Night Market

Welcome to Chiang Rai, Thailand! We are here to explore some of the best temples in Thailand, eat delicious Thai food at the Chiang Rai Night Bazaar and, as always, find some mango sticky rice!

Our day begins as we ride our motorbike to Wat Rong Khun, also known as the White Temple. The Chiang Rai White Temple is a bizarre world where art, religion and pop culture combine to make one very interesting thing to see.

After visiting the White Temple, we drove to Wat Rong Suea Ten, also known as the Blue Temple. The entire complex is a vibrant blue and gives much more zen vibes than the White Temple.

We round out our day with the Chiang Rai Night Bazaar. This Chiang Rai Night Market happens every single night and has a HUGE food court with plenty of shopping stalls. Ashley picks up a few more elephant pants and we complete a fun day exploring Chiang Rai, Thailand.

We hope you enjoy our Chiang Rai Thailand vlog and, as always, we’ll see you in our next video as we Keep Going Places!

NORTHERN THAI FOOD (อาหารไทยภาคเหนือ) | Chiang Rai United vs Chiang Mai United | Night Bazaar

I decided to take a 3 hour bus trip to visit Chiang Rai and absolutely love this city. I finally made it to my first ever international football game. I also tried vegetarian Khao Soi along with some other Northern thai dishes like Hung Lay curry, Larb kua and the northern thai sausage. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to visit the White Temple as planned but I hope to go back and check it out in the future.

CHIANG RAI TOP PLACES TO VISITS 4 DAYS 3 NIGHTS – SELF DRIVE

I personally favor Chiang Rai more than Chiang Mai simply because the things here are cheaper and more countryside. Visiting the Karen tribe is another eye-opening experience that you should not miss. 3 to 4 days is enough to explore Chiang Rai.
