Largest Cruise Ship in The World. Top 10 Biggest Cruise Ships. Cruise Ships Explore. For more than a century, cruise lines have competed to claim the title of the world’s largest cruise ship. When it set sail in 1912, the ill-fated Titanic was the largest and grandest passenger vessel of its time. But, as of 2009, when Royal Caribbean debuted its first Oasis-class ship, the superlative applies to vessels more than five times Titanic’s size. So, what is the biggest cruise ship in the world? In this episode, I will,l show the top 10 biggest cruise ships in the world.
Costa Smeralda is an Excellence-class cruise ship currently operated by Costa Cruises, a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation & plc Italy. The 185,010 gross tonnage vessel is 1,105 feet in length and total cost of $950 million to build. It has 20 decks and a guest maximum capacity of around 6,554 passengers.
Costa Toscana is the third ship of the Costa group and it is the sister company of Carnival Corporation in Italy. The 185,010 gross tonnage vessel is 1105 feet long and costs in build $950 million. The ship has 20 decks, which accommodate 11 restaurants and 19 themed bars. The passenger capacity of the ship is 6,554.
MSC World Europa is a World-class cruise ship currently under construction for MSC Cruises at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The ship is 1092 feet long and has a gross tonnage of approximately 205,700. It has 22 decks and a guest capacity of around 5,400 passengers.
AIDAnova is a cruise ship built by Meyer Werft GmbH in Papenburg, Germany under contract from Carnival Corporation for AIDA Cruises. The ship is the first cruise ship in the world that can operate completely using liquefied natural gas. The total weight of the ship is a gross tonnage of approximately 183,858. AIDAnova has 16 decks and the maximum capacity of the ship is 6,654 passengers.
Carnival Mardi Gras is an Excellence-class cruise ship operated by Carnival Cruise Line. The ship is Carnival's lead vessel of the fleet's Excel class, a subclass of the Excellence class, and was built by Finnish shipbuilder Meyer Turku in Turku, Finland.
Mardi Gras measures a gross tonnage of 181,808 and has a maximum passenger capacity of 6,500 passengers, with approximately 2,000 crew members. The total length of the ship is 1,130 feet.
The Allure of the Seas is an Oasis-class cruise ship owned and operated by Royal Caribbean International. Its complete length is
1,187 feet and 18 decks. The Allure of the Sea's maximum capacity of passengers is 6780.
Oasis of the Seas is a cruise ship operated by Royal Caribbean International. She is the first of her class, whose ships are the largest passenger ships in the world. It has 18 decks maximum capacity of passengers 5,606. The total cost of the ship is $1.4 billion.
Symphony of the Seas is an Oasis-class cruise ship owned and operated by Royal Caribbean International. She was built in 2018 in the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, the fourth in Royal Caribbean's Oasis class of cruise ships. The total length of the ship is 1,184 feet and it has 18 decks. The fourth in Royal Caribbean's Oasis class of cruise ships at a gross tonnage of 228,081, and a maximum passenger capacity of 6680. The total cost of the ship is US$1.35 billion.
Harmony of the Seas is an Oasis-class cruise ship built by STX France at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, for Royal Caribbean International. The total length of the ship is 1,188.1 feet and the maximum capacity of passengers is
5,479. The world-class cruise ship cost US$1.35 billion.
The Wonder of the Seas is an Oasis-class cruise ship owned and operated by Royal Caribbean International. It was completed in 2022 in the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The Wonder of the Seas measures 1,188 feet in length and has a gross tonnage of 236,857 across 18 decks. The maximum capacity of the ship is 5,734 passengers.

We're talking about the iconic Icon of the Seas, Royal Caribbean's newest ship class since the Quantum-Class, Odyssey, Quantum, Anthem, and Ovation of the Seas. Both new cruise ships will sail to Royal Caribbean's Private Island, Perfect Day at Cococay, Bahamas (they also own Labadee, Haiti) for inexpensive weekend getaway cruises from Miami & Fort Lauderdale Florida! Celebrity Cruises, which added a fourth Edge-Class ship in 2023 (Celebrity Ascent, sister ship of Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Edge, and Celebrity Beyond), will not release any new vessels in 2024.
After Carnival Cruise Line has recently launched its brand-new and very exciting Carnival Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration cruise ships with the first Roller Coasters at Sea, it is finally ready to launch the Carnival Jubilee on Carnival's 50th Golden Jubilee Anniversary (December 2023); it won't launch any new vessels in 2024.
Richard Branson's Cruise line, the adults-only Virgin Voyages, is excited to debut the Brilliant Lady in 2024 (or later as it has been delayed recently), a sister ship to the Scarlet Lady, the Valiant Lady, and the Resilient Lady.
Princess Cruises will present its newest flagship class (the Sphere Class with the Sun Princess & in 2025 with the Star Princess) and so will Holland America Line, Cunard Cruises, and Disney! Disney Cruise Line will acquire Dream Cruises' massive Global Dream, one of the world's largest cruise ship classes, its first ship acquisition ever; this will probably only happen in 2025. But in 2024, Disney will launch the Disney Treasure (with its Captain Minnie Mouse), which will be Disney's newest ship since the Disney Wish (also part of the same Wish Class), which was recently inaugurated in 2022!
Another cruise line with an impressive new lineup next year is MSC Cruises. After launching the Seaside Plus Class's MSC Seashore (sister ship to the MSC Seaside and MSC Seaview) and the MSC Virtuosa, from Meraviglia-Class, in 2021, they will launch a brand new World Class ships (MSC World America, the sister ship of the MSC World Europa which was launched this year!). 8. Freedom class Ships(early 2000’s)
All the Freedom class ships are at number 6 as they are all exactly the same design. When Freedom of the Seas arrived it was the largest cruise ship in the world and brought many new onboard features that can now be experienced across the Royal Caribbean fleet.

7. Norwegian Epic(2010)
Norwegian Epic went through a real struggle to become a reality due to funding disputes between NCL and the STX shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The ship boasts a large Aqua Park and cabins for single passengers. Norwegian Epic can be easily noticed due to it’s shoe box design on top.

6. Norwegian escape(2015) Norwegian Joy(2017)
Norwegian Escape is the largest ship in the NCL and is one of the highlights of the industry for 2015. The ship is the first of two Breakaway Plus ships and boasts onboard features like the oceans first ever Snow Room. The vessel was built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
