E37 - Josephine Falls, Babinda Boulders, Karunda, and White Water Rafting

This episode we visit the 2 waterfalls we ran out of time to see on our Atherton Tablelands trip. We explore Josephine Falls, and then the Babinda Boulders.
We then take a train ride up the Kuranda Scenic Railway and return on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway that stretches 7.5 kilometres (4.7 miles) between Smithfield (Cairns) and Kuranda. There are 32 towers in total and the highest tower stands 40.5 metres (133 feet) high.
We finish our activities in Cairns by White Water Rafting down the Barron River.

The Queensland Beach we didn't swim at

Find out why this was the Queensland beach we didn't swim at.

In this video Di and I were on a location shoot in the Daintree national park which is located in north Queensland, Australia.

We had made our way up to Cape Tribulation and were scouting locations to shoot with our guide.

Because of the climate the waterways and beaches here provide the perfect environment and home for the Saltie (Salt water crocodile)

Here's some behind the scenes footage from that shoot.

The Ultimate Josephine Falls Experience : The BEST Waterfall in Cairns region. #Josephinefalls

The Josephine Falls is a tiered cascade waterfall on the Josephine Creek located in Wooroonooran, Cairns Region in the Far North region of Queensland, Australia.

The falls are situated at the foot of the southern face of Mount Bartle Frere And descend from the Atherton Tablelands’

To get there is just a short 20 minute drive from Innisfail
Or an hour drive south from Cairns.

To get to Josephine falls from the car park, it's just a short 700 metre walk up a slight hill to the Falls. The Hiking track up the mountain is from a seperate entrance just past the food tables and bbq area. If you do attempt this hike, please be prepared.

With crystal clear water, surrounded by rainforest, its surely to be a memorable experience.

One special feature of this waterfall, is its Natural waterslide

The Josephine Falls walking track winds through rainforest known as complex mesophyll vine forest, the most complex rainforest type in Australia.

Personally I think this is the best waterfall in Queensland, in regards to its beauty, public amenities and swimming holes.

Beware Conditions at Josephine Falls can be extremely dangerous. Flash flooding can occur at Josephine Falls at any time of the year and several people have died. Alway's take care in these parts of Australia.

Babinda Kayaking - WATCH OUT FOR THE WATERFALL

A must-do when traveling through Babinda, just south of Cairns QLD.

This was an incredible 3-hour kayak drift, it's super easy and relaxing and an affordable activity that is suitable for everything.

This and Tully Rafting were some of our favorite activities while visiting Cairns.

#radtimes Babinda Kayaking December 2018

Jumping head first into Babinda Creek with Babinda Kayaking to cool off. The rain had topped up the fresh water and the creek had a nice flow downstream. This has to be one of the best activities around Tropical North Queensland #radtimestogether

Atherton Tablelands Waterfall & Rainforest Full Day Adventure with Barefoot Tours, Cairns

Barefoot has been touring the waterfalls of Far North Queensland for over a decade. They love nature and the outdoors and have prided themselves on making it accessible, fun and informative. It’s a tour where you can see all different types of waterfalls, lookouts, lakes/craters within the World Heritage Rainforest and if your lucky some of the endemic wildlife of the Tropics.

Places they frequent often include Josephine Falls, Babinda Boulders, Millaa Millaa falls, Lake Eacham and the glorious Fig Tree. There is a plenty of other alternatives each day and this varies daily… You will have numerous opportunities to swim throughout the day as well as stretch your legs out and explore the terrain. If you read through Barefoot’s website and some of their blogs, you will get a better idea of the region and how they can try to cater the day for each group. It is what sets them aside from the other tours out there.

Tully, Tropical North Queensland Australia. We visit this small town and the stunning National Park.

Tully is a small town about half an hour west of Mission Beach. We weren't really intending to go there but saw it as we were driving around during our weekend at Wongaling Beach.

It's a stunning area and we were able tyo avoid the rain long enough to voisit the Tully Gorge National Park.

Unfortunately, because we visited the National Park there are no dogs in this video :) Beautiful scenery though!

E38 - An Island to Ourselves, Sudbury Cay and Diving the Historic Lady Bowen Shipwreck

With the cyclone season closing in, we perform a few items of maintenance repairing window leaks and freezer fixes, then begin heading south.
We check out the popular tourist destination of Green Island before heading to Sudbury Cay where we have this tiny island for ourselves to explore to pristine white sands.
After stopping overnight at Kent Island we continue south to Walkers Reef diving the historic Lady Bowen shipwreck along the way.

Tully Gorge Camping Area - Tully Gorge National Park, Queensland

The Tully Gorge camping area is a camping area within the Tully Gorge National Park.  The campground is a large open grassed area surrounded by trees that provide plenty of shade. There are no designated sites.  This is a great campground to base yourself whilst kayaking on the Tully River. There are cold bush showers available and barbeques in the day use area.  There is also a lovely short walk through rainforest that is full of butterflies.
