I recently flew with Qatar Airways from Dubai via Doha to Los Angeles. It was my first-time flying Qatar Airways in a long time. They just re-started their service to Dubai in January.

My first flight was onboard a Qatar Airways B787 Dreamliner, a short 50-minute hop from Dubai to Doha. We departed with foggy weather in Dubai and the Qatar Airways crew still managed to serve a meal on this short flight.

During my transit in Doha Hamad International Airport, I visited the Al Mourjan Business Class Lounge. I was given a tour and got to see what’s changed inside the lounge. I celebrated Chinese New Year in the Qatar Airways Lounge.

My next flight was onboard a Qatar Airways A350-1000 to Los Angeles. Flight time was over 15 hours flying over the North Pole (87 degrees in latitude). The flight is equipped with the award winning QSuite in Business Class. The entire flight was very light with less than 100 passengers onboard. I discovered the changes in both the QSuite Business Class and Economy Class products onboard. We flew past some great scenery en-route and it was amazing to look out of the window to appreciate nature from 40,000 ft.

Don’t miss the amazing tail camera view from the Qatar Airways A350-1000 while landing into LAX.

Qatar Airways QSuite Business Class Airbus A350-1000 | Los Angeles to Doha

Airline: Qatar Airways (QR)
Flight Number: QR740
Route: LAX-DOH
Class: Business Class (QSUITE)
Aircraft: Airbus A350-1000 XWB
Registration: A7-ANN
Delivered: December 2019
Flight Duration: 15 Hours 20 Minutes
Distance: 8,306 Miles

Blogpost:

Overall Impression:

Hello everyone and welcome to another trip report!

Qatar Airways' (QR) second longest route is their flight Doha to Los Angeles (and return) which clocks in at 13,367 kilometers (8,306 miles). Qatar was previously flying their Boeing 777-200LR exclusively to LAX until June 1st 2020, where it was replaced by the Airbus A350-1000 XWB, which are fitted with the QSuite Business Class seats. There are 46 enclosed suites on this aircraft which are laid out in a 1-2-1 staggered configuration. Some seats face forward, while others are rear facing. The partitions of the Quad center seats can also be lowered allowing 4 passengers to sit together. Come fly and join me in my journey on this ultra long-haul flight on Qatar's QSuite product.

What I liked:

The seats - I really like Qatar's QSuite product and I think it's the best business class product available to date. The seat is private, yet spacious and intuitively laid out. It was comfortable for sitting and dining upright. The seat also reclines and converts into a fully flat bed. And yes, there are also personal air nozzles on this aircraft! --Score!

The food - I've always had very good things to say about QR's food and in-flight catering, and this flight was no different. Catering was done by DO & CO, which is one of the best in-flight caterers in the industry. QR offers a full dining-on-demand service for the entire flight, which is great! I loved having to dine at my leisure and pace.

The onboard service - I know the onboard service depends entirely on the crew, but the service this flight was amazing. Joy, our flight attendant was proactive and anticipated all our needs before we even asked for them, it felt like first class in business. She was prompt in delivering the pre-departure beverage, meals, and turndown services. The other flight attendants were also quick to respond to our requests during the flight. Amazing!

The IFE - QR's Oryx One Entertainment system is one of the best IFE systems in my opinion. It offers a wide-array of new and classic movies, TV programs, music, games, and a functioning moving map. The interface is snappy and it was easy to navigate and browse through the media content. I also love the outside camera feeds on the A350.

The amenities - QR offers excellent business class amenities. All passengers are offered a Bric's amenity kit, and pajamas and slippers by The White Company London. A bottled water, and noise canceling headphones are available at each seat. Two pillows, a thick and comfortable duvet, and mattress pad are fitted on the seat during turndown service. The lavatories are also very clean and fully stocked with toothbrushes, razors, and toiletries.

What I didn't like:

Check-in at LAX - The Check-in process at LAX, as per our previous experience with Qatar's ground crew was a bit slow. There was a dedicated business class lane at check-in, but we still waited for about 15 minutes before someone called us over. Oddly enough, the security at LAX was empty and we were through in about 5 minutes thanks to TSA Precheck. The passenger experience greatly improved once onboard.

It was OK...I guess:

The Admirals Club at LAX - Because of the pandemic, all oneworld lounges at LAX's Tom Bradley terminal are closed. So we headed to the Admirals Club in Terminal 4 via the terminal connector. The seating was plenty and comfortable during our stay, but the food and beverage options were all very limited. I guess it still beats waiting in the terminal with the crowd... :/

Luxury Travel during the Pandemic? Yes, it does exist!

Come join us on our flight from Doha to Los Angeles aboard Qatar Airways QSuite on the Airbus A350-1000XWB

Qatar Airways offers the spectacular QSuite business class product on their Airbus A350-1000 aircrafts. The seat itself is very comfortable and private. Some of the center seats can even be converted into a quad, where a party of 4 people can sit together. Top that with luxurious amenities, excellent onboard service and delicious, artfully presented meals and you have a winning first-class flight --in business!

What I liked:

The onboard service - The onboard service was excellent! The Maria and the flight attendants working our aisle were friendly, efficient, and proactive in delivering the in-flight service. The crew anticipated all our needs during the flight, and even offered turndown service.

The airplane - We've flown on Qatar's A350-1000 before and in my opinion, it is the Airline's best aircraft for business class (minus the onboard bar). Large windows, a spacious cabin with high ceiling, and the best humidity/cabin pressure of any next generation aircraft available is a sure win.

The food - The onboard catering was excellent as always. Despite the changes in service, the onboard catering was still beautifully presented and delicious! Qatar offers a dine-on-demand service, and I was able to order what I wanted from the menu at any time during the flight. There were plenty of food and beverage selections, and an extensive wine list.

The IFE - This plane uses the Oryx One Entertainment system and it offers a plethora of new and classic movies, TV programs, music, and games selections. The system interface is responsive and it was easy to navigate through the media content. The Airbus A350 also has an impressive outside camera.

The amenities - Qatar offers excellent business class amenities. All passengers are offered a Bric's amenity kit with Castello Monte Vibiano Vecchio toiletries, and pajamas by The White Company London. A bottled water, and noise canceling headphones are available at each seat. A full-size pillow, a thick and comfortable duvet, and mattress pad are fitted on the seat during turndown service. The lavatories are also very clean and furnished with Rituals toiletries.

The Lounge – The Al Mourjan lounge in Doha is considered by many as one of the best business class lounges in the industry, and for a good reason. This lounge is massive and airy with high ceilings. The lounge is tastefully designed with minimalist décor and offers plenty of comfortable seating while waiting for your next flight. There are 2 restaurants in the lounge. On the main level is the “deli-style” restaurant serving light fare. The main restaurant upstairs features both an assisted buffet and a la carte table service. The showers rooms in the lounge are spacious, clean, and offer Rituals toiletries.

What I didn't like:

NONE! -- This really was a near flawless flight!

It was OK...I guess:

The seats – Just like my last review, I really like Qatar's QSuite product and I think it's the best business class product available to date. The seat is private, yet spacious and well laid out. The seat controls, IFE, storage, and power outlets are all within an easy reach. The QSuite also features a door that you can close in-flight for extra privacy. Did I mention Qatar offers personal air nozzles on the Airbus A350? ???? The only negative thing I noticed is that when lying down, my knees would constantly hit the tray table when turning to my side or back.

What I didn't like:
The Lounge- The American Airlines Flagship Lounge at New York's JFK Terminal 8 is currently closed, so we were left to hang out at the Admirals Club before our flight. They do have a hot beverage station, and full bar.

We reviewed our experience flying Qatar A350 Qsuites between Singapore and Doha. The hard product is the best business class seat in the world with great privacy thanks to the sliding doors and one of the most comfortable seats in the sky. Flight attendants' service was perfect, very professional and good attention on details. The business cabin, in Qatar's signature colours looks great and spacious.

Overall Impression:

It's been a while since we were last on Qatar's A350-900 configured with the QSuite. QR has halted operations of some of its A350 fleet due to airframe integrity issues, which is sad as I find the A350 one of the most comfortable rides in the air. QR's A350-900 is currently fitted with 36 QSuite seats in business class, which is plenty comfortable for this 6-plus hour flight to Doha. The business class amenities and service from the crew onboard were excellent and consistent with our other Qatar Airways flights. My only complaint is that the in-flight catering is very limited on this flight, since this is a night flight and I guess QR anticipated that most people would rather sleep than eat.

What I liked:

The seats - For those who've seen my other videos, you'll know how much I'm a big fan of the QSuite product. The seats are very comfortable for sitting, dining, and lounging. Pair that with personal air nozzles and you'll catch some serious ZZZs in-flight. The seats are all very private as well. Right after takeoff, you can close the suite door for additional privacy.

The service - The crew that we interacted with were very charming, and eager to please. They offered us a pre-departure beverage, and loungewear before takeoff. They were also quick to respond to our requests and plated our meals beautifully.

The Onboard amenities - A protective kit including mask, latex gloves, and hand sanitizer were offered to all business class passengers in addition to the Diptyque amenity kit, and loungewear by the White Company London. The lavatories were regularly cleaned by the crew and offered toiletries like facial must and hand lotion. Disposable razors and toothbrushes were also available in the lavatories.

It was OK:

The Paul Maxence Lounge at CDG - Qatar is currently using the Paul Maxence Lounge at CDG, since their own lounge is still currently close since the beginning of the pandemic. The lounge itself is fine and offers plenty of comfortable seating. Although the food and beverage selection was pretty limited and a bit sad looking.

What I didn't like:

The catering - I usually marvel at Qatar's catering, but for some reason the food selection on this flight was very limited compared to our previous flights on QR. This must be a cost-cutting move.

Bottom Line:

Qatar Airways offers an excellent business class product with the QSuite. These seats are being touted as Super Business Class seats, and they really are. The in-flight amenities and catering are among the best we've experienced in business class, and even beats some of the first class products we've flown in the past. The contract lounge at CDG was also pretty comfortable for a quick stay. The only real downer on this flight is the limited food selection. I hope Qatar does something to rectify this issue in the future.

Qatar Q-Suite - Business Class as good as First?

Since its launch in 2017 Qatar's Q Suite has set the standard in international business class. But does it live us to its hype? Is it still as good as it was? Does it really match other airlines' First Class?

These questions will be answered as I revisit the Qatar Q Suite in this business class flight review.

My flight onboard the Qatar A350 from Doha to Adelaide was 13 hours long so plenty of time to experience every luxury that the Qatar Airways Q-Suite has to offer.

Join me and let's experience Qatar Airways Q Suite business class together.

Overall Impression:

What is it like to fly Qatar Airways QSuite Business Class during the pandemic? Come join me and let's fly from Chicago to Doha aboard Qatar's Airbus A350-1000 in comfort and style!

Qatar Airways changed aircraft on their Chicago to Doha flights from a Boeing 777-300ER to an Airbus A350-1000 outfitted with the QSuite Business Class product.

Although this wasn't our first QSuite flight, it's an excellent business class product, and we always look forward to flying it.

Business Class on Qatar's new Airbus A350-1000 is laid out in a 1-2-1 configuration. Some seats face forward, while others are rear facing. The center seats can be opened-up so that a family or friends of 4, can still see each other and converse during the flight.

I was seated in 8B, a front facing window seat on the port side of the plane, while my companion was in 7A, a front facing window seat.

What I liked:

The seats were very comfortable. I was initially concerned that because of the sliding door, the QSuite might feel tight and claustrophobic, but this was not the case. The seat felt spacious and very private.

The service was excellent. Qatar Airways offers a dine-on-demand concept in business class, where you can order anything from the menu at any time during the flight. Our flight attendant Jacqueline was proactive, charming and very efficient. The crew also constantly checked if passengers needed anything during the flight.

The food was also delicious. The catering was topnotch all the food and beverages we ordered throughout the flight tasted fresh, beautifully presented, and scrumptious!

Onboard amenities were also excellent. A protective kit including mask, latex gloves, and hand sanitizer were offered to all business class passengers in addition to the Bric's amenity kit, and pajamas. The crew offered turndown service, with a thick duvet, full-size pillowm and mattress pads were placed on the seat when you're ready to wind down and get some sleep. The lavatories were stocked with toothbrushes, shaving kits, and bottles of moisturizers and facial mist. They were also regularly cleaned by the crew.

It was OK:

I'm really nitpicking here, but The Bric's amenity kit is just OK, but I actually prefer the old Giorgio Armani soft pouches from before. The White Company Pajamas/slippers provided was also a nice touch, but their old business class pajamas and slippers were of better quality in my opinion.

What I didn't like:

The horrendous wait at Chicago's O'Hare Airport - Qatar Airways isn't really well-known for their services on the ground-and it's too bad because their in-flight service is amazing! That being said, we waited in line at check-in for about 45 minutes before someone helped us. The security line at was also equally long, and it was a big mess. Even with TSA pre-check, we still waited for over half an hour to get through so we didn't have time to visit the lounge.

Bottom Line:

Qatar Airways QSuite is a superb the business class product. Probably the best we have experienced. The seats, service, amenities, and food rivals even some of the best First Class products available. Other than the snafu at Chicago airport, we had an amazing flight and arrived in Doha well-rested and well-fed.

Overall Impression:

This was our first time on Qatar's Airbus A350-900, that's been reconfigured with the QSuite. The last time we flew on the -900 version, it still had the reverse herringbone business class seat, which is good, but the QSuite really makes a huge difference. This plane is currently fitted with 36 QSuite seats in business class, which is plenty comfortable for this 7 hour flight to London. The food and service from the crew onboard were excellent and consistent with our other Qatar Airways flights. The lounge experience at the Al Mourjan lounge in Doha as expected was also great. There was plenty of seating and the food and beverage selection is excellent.

What I liked:

The Al Mourjan Lounge in Doha - The Al Mourjan lounge has gone through a lot of changes since the pandemic began. Most notable is the food offering. They now offer an excellent la carte dining service in addition to the now assisted buffet spread in the dining room. Not to mention the serve sushi! There is also plenty of comfortable seating through out this huge lounge.

The catering - I was so full from the big meal we had at the Al Mourjan Lounge in Doha, so I decided to have a light tasting meal 2 hours after takeoff instead of the usual 3-course meal. The platter was beautifully plated and tasted light and delicious. I also ordered the beef and chicken sliders before landing, and just like the first meal it tasted fresh, flavorful, and was nicely presented.

The service - The crew that we interacted with were very charming, and eager to please. They offered us a pre-departure beverage, and loungewear before takeoff. They were also quick to respond to our requests and plated our meals beautifully.

It was OK:

The Onboard amenities - A protective kit including mask, latex gloves, and hand sanitizer were offered to all business class passengers in addition to the Bric's amenity kit, and pajamas. The crew offered turndown service, with a thick duvet, full-size pillowm and mattress pads were placed on the seat when you're ready to wind down and get some sleep. The lavatories were regularly cleaned by the crew and had some toiletries like facial must and hand lotion, but missing was the usual stock of toothbrushes and shaving kits. Perhaps the plane was not stocked for our flight?

What I didn't like:

The flight was not long enough - This was only a 7 hour flight, which is somewhat short compared to the ultra long haul flights we've flown on Qatar. I wish the flight was longer so that we could enjoy the amenities and service more.

Bottom Line:

Qatar Airways offers an excellent business class product with the QSuite. These seats are being touted as Super Business Class seats, and they really are. The in-flight amenities and catering are among the best we've experienced in business class, and even beats some of the first class products we've flown in the past. The Al Mourjan Lounge is the cherry on top, with it's expansive real estate and excellent food and beverage selection.
