Nambe Lake trail with my Dog !

Like, comment, share & subscribe!

Nambe Lake trail is very beautiful and it is moderately difficult.
The views are amazing along the trail, with amazing trees.
The trial starts at the foot of Ski Santa Fe.
There are other trials that leads to other amazing views.
The round trip to Nambe lake is about 7.8 miles . On the way up it took me 2 hours and 1 hour and 45 mins on the way down.
This was my first hike with my newly adopted dog - Chile, and she had a lot of fun.

I highly recommend to explore this lake, it is very serene.

Hiking Cave Creek Trail, Jacks Creek, Pecos Wilderness, Hiking New Mexico

We did a few miles on Cave Creek trail - wow, beautiful EASY hike. This is a great hike for families and people of all ages. There are a few hills but very gentle ups and downs, lovely wild flowers and trees, and a stream.

The hike begins at the Panchuela campground, just north of Cowles on a side road. There are caves back around 2.6 miles back which we didn't visit this time, but we hope to visit next trip to the area. It was very warm the day we were there, and lots of hikers. Definitely recommend this hike.

New Mexico's Nambe Falls

New Mexico doesn't have the greatest waterfalls in the country, but the short 10-minute hike to Nambe Falls is worth it. Set between Sante Fe and Espanola, this waterfall is located on native land and stays flowing due to releases from the reservoir upstream.

Exercise, fresh air, stunning views, ample wildlife, and the opportunity to bring out your cellphone only to take pictures might sound like a deal that is too good to be true, unless you are hiking in one of New Mexico’s wilderness areas. In this case that magic combination came together for the NM True Crew along Jack’s Creek in the Pecos Wilderness. And they are kind enough to take us along on the their walk.

No way... It's Nambé!: Hiking the Nambé Lake trail in Santa Fe | ThisLoveIsTakingOff Ep. 7

On this episode of ThisLoveIsTakingOff, we take you through one of our favorite hikes in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Nambé Lake trail. The trail features a steep 3.5 mile climb through the Winsor trail #245 with some of the most beautiful forests of pine trees and aspens. The lake view was breathtaking (literally), landing us at an elevation over 11,300 feet. Once we reached the lake we were joined by some light rainfall and heavy thunder, making this trip all the more exciting.

See you on our next adventure! #ThisLoveIsTakingOff

Nambe Lake Trail

Nambe Lake Trail is a 7 mile, round trip, heavily trafficked trail located near Santa Fe, New Mexico that features a lake and is rated as difficult.

The trail offers a number of activity options such as camping and fishing and is best used from May until October.

This is a really nice hike that starts at the north end of the Ski Santa Fe parking lot. Look for the bathrooms and Windsor Trail sign. There is not a Nambe Lake Trail sign at the start point!

The trail starts off the first half mile with a moderate incline along a well-maintained trail through the woods with Aspen and Pine trees. At the first intersection of another trail, there is a fence that you go through straight ahead to stay on the trail.

The trail then starts a long slight decline towards the Nambe Creek. Again, mostly shaded with the same trees and some views of the valley and Mt. Baldy.

As you get to Nambe Creek, there is a sign that states Nambe Lake, Trail 400. Veer off to the right just past the sign and the trail starts uphill. If you go left or straight you will be off the trail.

The trail at this point is more difficult to follow so be careful to lookout for the crossing about a half mile up near a large clearing with campsites. If you miss the crossing the less traveled trail on the south side of Nambe Creek is much more difficult.

You will be gaining elevation from Trail 400 on and it does get steep. The trail follows Nambe Creek to the lake. There are numerous waterfalls on this section of the hike.

At the top is Nambe Lake which is a typical Alpine Lake with crystal clear water and dramatic views of the surrounding peaks.

The hike is a good workout so plan some recharge time before starting back!

Hike to Nambe Lake 2017

2 days out in the forest. 1st day camped out at Holy Ghost campground. The next morning we left to another part of the Santa Fe National forest to find us one of New Mexico's hidden gems! We faced a steep 6 mile hike, at one point of our journey we got caught in a hail storm!, but we were not going to back down on our quest to find this beautiful lake. Waited out the storm and were on our way again. Our journey had led us to such a beautiful place!

NAMBE FALLS IN THE LAND OF ENCHANTMENTS

New Mexico is full of enchantments !!! Who knew that this magical state had so much to do and see...and one of those magical places one must visit in none other than one of the most beautiful, hidden waterfalls in the United States...Nambe Falls!!! Located between the cities of Taos and Santa Fe, Nambe Falls is one of those magical gifts of nature that will leave you breathless when you see it. It is a small but magical journey in between the cliffs...and when you come up to the first waterfall, you will immediately fall in love with it. But wait, there's more...if you hike up the hill to the right (even though there's a no trespassing sign, still do it who cares, youre already there, and its 100% worth it) go up and mesmerize yourself with 2 bigger waterfalls. Take your time, admire this beautiful gift of nature and enjoy the sounds of the cascade. For more information on Nambe Falls, visit the link below.

Overlook Trail, sights and sounds of Nambe Falls, New Mexico.

Part 2. Filipino couple hikes the Overlook Trail of Nambe Falls, New Mexico. We added the sights and sounds of our hike at Nambe Falls to our video for your enjoyment.

Hike to Nambe Falls, New Mexico.

Part 1. Filipino couple hikes to Nambe Falls, New Mexico. It was a short half mile round trip hike on a cloudy day. We decided to head back once we heard thunder and felt a few droplets of rain. Fortunately, the rain did not fall, so this is part 1 of 2. Part 2 is our hike on the Overlook Trail.

Sandia Mountains

When traveling outside our Northern California basecamp we always look for a good trail. The preferred trail has some elevation gain and hopefully a nice summit. We recently traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico and received all the above. The Sandia Mountains are a 17-mile-long range East of the city and top out at an impressive elevation of 10,678 along the Sandia Crest. The preferred summit route is the La Luz trail rising almost 4,000’ in 6 miles but for the purposes of time and hanging out with moms we took the Sandia Tram for $25 up 4,000’ in the span of 15 minutes. The tram drops you off at 10,368 and a 1.5 mile hike will take you to the summit of the Sandia Crest. Along the way be sure to visit the Kiwanis Hut and push past the Crest for the Needles and North Sandia Peak both over 10,000’. Besides hiking and the tram you can drive the Sandia Crest Scenic Byway to the summit and enjoy the views or a sunset. Next time you are near be sure to take the detour and check this range out. The Sandie’s will not disappoint.

Hiking New Mexico

In Episode 2, our RV is still boondocked at the Joe Skeen Campground in El Malpais, New Mexico.

We take our scout vehicle, Pepe the Prius and first explore the Ice Cave and Bandera Volcano in Grants, New Mexico. This ice cave and volcano are situated on the Continental Divide, which makes the hikes a little challenging, since we're almost at 8,000 feet.

We hike through twisted old-growth Juniper, Douglas Fir, Ponderosa Pine trees an over an ancient lava trail to the Ice Cave.

Next, we go on a 4 hour hike at the Narrows Rim, which is in the El Malpais National Conservation Area.

The trailhead and parking area is located at the south end of the Narrows Picnic area. The trail is about nine miles round trip and takes us along the rim of the mesa. Looking down, we can see the lava beds and surrounding countryside and our hiking trail ends overlooking La Ventana Arch.
