testing the MOUNT ADAPTER FTZ with a Nikon Z 50

The Mount Adapter FTZ allows long-time Nikon users to continue utilising their existing NIKKOR F lenses seamlessly with the new system. the new Mount Adapter FTZ works with F mount NIKKOR lenses, giving you full access to our new range of mirrorless cameras. The auto focus works perfectly, I've tried it with a AF-S NIKKOR 70-30mm lenses.

Nikon Z6 with Vintage NIKKOR 35-135 Lens Urban Landscape Photography

Influenced by David The Georgia Photographer Saylors, I bought a used vintage 35-135 NIKKOR lens from 1988 and did some landscape photography with it in downtown Chattanooga at sunset.

Is Nikon Z system compatible with Peak Design Travel Tripod ?

Peak Design Travel Tripod & NIKON Z / FTZ compatibility

A video dedicated to Nikon Z users who also use F mount adapted lenses via the FTZ adaptor which can be a bit tricky when it comes to the Peak Design infrastructure of plates, mounting angles and time it takes to swap lenses.

Nikon Z6 with FTZ adapter

I tested various lenses with Nikon Z6:
* Nikkor Z 24-70 F4 S - no adapter needed and everything works as expected
* Tamron 24-70 F2.8 first gen - often can't focus plus weird exposure changes
* Tamron 70-300 - ditto
* Tamron 15-30 F2.8 first gen- same as above, but this one may still be useful for me as I mainly use it for stationary subjects and sometimes with tripod
* Tamron 150-600 G2 (second gen) - works with the latest lens firmware update as of 5 Jan 2019
* Nikkor 50 F1.8 and Nikkor 85 F1.8 - both work
* Samyang 14 F2.8 - it's a manual focus lens, but works as expected including correct exposure

It was relatively dark: 1/50s F4, ISO 2000

Nikon Z6 Electronic Stabilization test

Showing results of Electronic stabilization used together with Optical stabilization. If you are going for the tripod stabilization this could be really usable. Slow panning is smooth, but faster motion creates unpredictable jumps which are very distracting. Warping effect in the corners is sometimes subtle, sometimes straight fugly :)
Not sure if it is not present without electronic stabilization, but noticed few aliasing instances in the footage, which I didn't notice in my previous footage (eg. bus number in first scene).
I would not recommend using this feature in general, although it can used on special occasions.

Ist the Nikon Z6 picture quality bad?

Disclaimer: I am not a professional tech reviewer with the best tools, so this comparison will not be perfect.

In this video I am comparing RAW photos shot on the Nikon Z6 (using DX option) to photos shot on the Nikon D7100 (DX), focusing on the ISO setting and the resulting grain.

I am using the same lens on all photos at the same focus length (200mm) while cycling through different ISO settings and adapting the shutter speed for the wanted exposure. All other settings are set to be as similar as possible.

Capturing the Beauty of Hawaii

This is why you need to go to Hawaii. The magic felt here is indescribable. The people, the nature, the wildlife - you truly cannot find it anywhere else in the world. Make sure you check out the other videos in this series if you haven't already!

Thanks to Nikon for Sponsoring this video! The Nikon Z6 was the perfect camera for me to film this series on - it was great for vlogging on and perfect for capturing the most beautiful, cinematic footage. Some of the highlights for me were the smooth and seamless autofocus, the incredible stabilization and the low light capabilities. Check it out here! -
p.s. a few establishing shots were filmed on a drone but everything else was filmed on the Z6! ????
