ABOUT Destination America
Destination America is an American pay television channel that is owned by Discovery Inc. The network first launched in 1996 as Discovery Travel & Living Network, as part of a suite of four digital cable networks the company launched that year. From its launch until 2008, the network primarily focused upon home improvement, cooking, and leisure-themed programs. In 2008, the network re-launched as Planet Green, which carried a focus on environmentalism and sustainable living; Discovery spent $50 million on developing programming for the network.

Planet Green was ultimately considered a failure; by 2010, the network had begun adding programming unrelated to ecology, and eventually populated its schedule with reruns of library programming ahead of a future rebranding. In May 2012, the channel re-launched as Destination America, which originally featured programming focused on American culture—including food, lifestyles, and travel (in a similar manner to then-former sister network Travel Channel). In 2016, the channel increased its focus on reality series devoted to paranormal topics and investigations, although it began to reverse course after Discovery re-acquired Travel Channel (which had also shifted to paranormal-themed series) during its purchase of Scripps Networks Interactive.

As of February 2015, approximately 57,238,000 American households (49.2% of households with television) receive Destination America.

Ep 75 Sightseeing in Gibraltar v1 4K

In this episode we will mostly do sightseeing in Gibraltar we of cause see the Monkeys but also caves and tunnels but we will also do some boatwork.

We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life experience the places we visit. We have sailed the Atlantic coast of Europe from Sweden to the Mediterranean Sea via Madeira and the Azores.

Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy and Soling sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders in 2017. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans.

Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon monohull from 2006 that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019

Marirosa Iannelli : Advocacy Coordinator of Italian Climate Network, Envirnomental project manager

Paola Fagioli: Vice Presidente AITR, Direttrice Legambiente Emilia Romagna e referente Legambiente Turismo

Lockdown empty Time Square New York

Times Square is a major commercial intersection, tourist destination, entertainment center, and neighborhood in the Midtown Manhattan section of New York City, at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue. Brightly lit by numerous billboards and advertisements, it stretches from West 42nd to West 47th Streets,[2] and is sometimes referred to as the Crossroads of the World,[3] the Center of the Universe,[4] the heart of the Great White Way, and the heart of the world.[8] One of the world's busiest pedestrian areas,[9] it is also the hub of the Broadway Theater District[10] and a major center of the world's entertainment industry. Times Square is one of the world's most visited tourist attractions, drawing an estimated 50 million visitors annually. Approximately 330,000 people pass through Times Square daily,[13] many of them tourists, while over 460,000 pedestrians walk through Times Square on its busiest days.

Formerly known as Longacre Square, Times Square was renamed in 1904 after The New York Times moved its headquarters to the then newly erected Times Building, now One Times Square. It is the site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop, which began on December 31, 1907 and continues to attract over a million visitors to Times Square every year.

Times Square functions as a town square, but is not geometrically a square; it is closer in shape to a bowtie, with two triangles emanating roughly north and south from 45th Street, where Seventh Avenue intersects Broadway. Broadway runs diagonally, crossing through the horizontal and vertical street grid of Manhattan laid down by the Commissioners' Plan of 1811, and that intersection creates the bowtie shape of Times Square.

The southern triangle of Times Square has no specific name,[19] but the northern triangle is called Father Duffy Square. It was dedicated in 1937 to Chaplain Francis P. Duffy of New York City's U.S. 69th Infantry Regiment and is the site of a memorial to him, along with a statue of George M. Cohan,[20] and the TKTS ticket booth.

In 2002, New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani administered the oath of office to the city's next mayor, Michael Bloomberg, at Times Square after midnight on January 1 as part of the 2001–2002 New Year's celebration. Approximately 500,000 revelers attended. Security was high following the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001, with more than 7,000 New York City police officers on duty in the Square, twice the number for an ordinary year.

Times Square started hosting other major annual events in the 2000s. Since 2002, the summer solstice has been marked by Mind over Madness, a mass yoga event involving up to 15,000 people. Tim Tompkins, co-founder of the event, said part of its appeal was finding stillness and calm amid the city rush on the longest day of the year.[63][64] Architect Mark Foster Gage proposed and designed the original Times Square Valentine's Day heart in 2009. Since then, designing the heart has become an annual competition.[65][66]

In February 2011, Times Square became smoke-free as New York extended the outdoors smoking ban to the area. The measure imposed a $50 fine for any person caught smoking within the area.[67]

From January 29 to February 1, 2014, a Super Bowl Boulevard was held on Broadway, especially in Times Square, between 34th and 47th Streets, as part of Super Bowl XLVIII. The boulevard contained activities such as autographs, a 60 feet (18 m)-high toboggan run, and photographs with the Vince Lombardi Trophy.[68][69][70] The area was under increased security and saw over 400,000 people during the period.[71]

Pedestrian plaza
On February 26, 2009, Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced that traffic lanes along Broadway from 42nd Street to 47th Street would be de-mapped starting Memorial Day 2009 and transformed into pedestrian plazas as a trial until at least the end of the year. The same was done in Herald Square from 33rd to 35th Street. The goal was to ease traffic congestion throughout the midtown grid. The results were to be closely monitored to determine if the project was successful and should be extended.[72] Bloomberg also stated that he believed the street shutdown would make New York more livable by reducing pollution, cutting down on pedestrian-vehicle accidents and helping traffic flow more smoothly.[73]

The pedestrian plaza project was originally opposed by local businesses, who thought that closing the street to cars would hurt business.[74] The original seats put out for pedestrians were inexpensive multicolored plastic lawn chairs, a source of amusement to many New Yorkers; they lasted from the onset of the plaza transformation until August 14, 2009, when they were ceremoniously bundled together in an installation christened Now You See It, Now You Don't by the artist Jason Peters.

Sentieri per la pace e lo sviluppo rurale

I progetti di Garima Voyage hanno tutti come comune denominatore la creazione di ponti di scambio e amicizia per contribuire a pace e sviluppo.

Carlo Ginzburg and Saul Friedländer

This series aims at highlighting the stories of many Italian artists, scientists, and intellectuals who were forced to leave Italy for political reasons, or after the proclamation of the racial laws, and moved to the United States. The focus of the conversations is on how their exile has changed their personal lives, and also influenced the Italian and American cultural scene, in between the two wars.

The last event of the series is a conversation between two of the most renowned historians of our time: Carlo Ginzburg and Saul Friedländer.

Carlo Ginzburg (April 15, 1939 - Turin, Italy) is a noted Italian historian, the son of Natalia Ginzburg, a novelist, and Leone Ginzburg, a philologist, historian, and literary critic. Ginzburg received a PhD from the University of Pisa in 1961. He subsequently held teaching positions at the University of Bologna, at the University of California, Los Angeles (1988–2006), and st the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. His fields of interest range from the Italian Renaissance to early modern European history, with contributions to art history, literary studies, and the theory of historiography.

He is best known for Il Formaggio e i Vermi - The Cheese and the Worms (1976), which examines the beliefs of Menocchio, a 16th century miller twice undergoing trial by the Roman Inquisition. In this book, Ginzburg highlights, on the basis of an analysis of the trial's papers, the different aspects of the surprisingly varied universe of Menocchio's cultural, philosophical, political and religious orientations, only to a small extent due to the influence of a higher culture. In 1966, he published The Night Battles, an examination of the benandanti's visionary folk tradition found in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Friuli in northeastern Italy. He returned to looking at the visionary traditions of early modern Europe for his 1989 book Ecstasies: Deciphering the Witches' Sabbath.

In the eighties he directed the Microstorie series published by Einaudi, with Giovanni Levi. He is part of the scientific council of the magazine Communications. He is Academic Correspondent of the Academy of Arts of Drawing, in Florence, and honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He received the Prix Aby Warburg in 1992 and, in 2005, the Feltrinelli Prize of the Accademia dei Lincei, for Historical Sciences. From the Accademia dei Lincei, in 2010, he was awarded the Balzan Prize. His books are translated into more than twenty languages.

Saul Friedländer (October 11, 1932) is an Israeli/American historian and currently Professor Emeritus of History at UCLA. From 1953-55, he studied Political Science in Paris; in 1963, he received a PhD from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, where he taught until 1988. Friedländer also taught at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and at Tel Aviv University. In 1969 he wrote a biography of Kurt Gerstein. Since 1988 he has been Professor of History at the University of California, Los Angeles.

He is considered one of the world's premier historians in the field of the Holocaust, and the author of the definitive book Nazi-Germany and the Jews 1933-1945, thst has transformed our understanding of this period by weaving into a coherent whole the perspectives of ordinary Germans, party activists, military and political figures, and, most importantly, victims and survivors. Drawing from documents, films, recollections, and his personal experience, he reconstructs these events with a judicious tone that defies the nature of the subject and demonstrates the interplay of memory and representation in the interpretation of historic events. Friedländer shows that a rational and many-sided reinterpretation of the evidence deepens a reader’s understanding of the nature, meaning, and complexity of the Holocaust.

His works include Pius XII and the Third Reich, (1965), History and Psychoanalysis (1979), When Memory Comes (1979), Reflections on Nazism (1984), Nazi Germany and the Jews, Volume One: The Years of Persecution, 1933-1939 (1997), and Nazi Germany and the Jews, Volume Two: The Years of Extermination, 1939-1945 (2008).
