We traveled back in time at Mleiha. Their archeological museum unveils the ancient Bedouin culture through real archeological exhibits with descriptions of each one of them. Before going inside the center, we went up on the viewing platform and saw the top view of the prehistoric tomb.
Neil and I were amazed that at an early age, Gab finds these ancient artifacts interesting. After our museum tour, we took a quick visit to the Mleiha stables.
Mleiha is located in Sharjah. They are open from 9:00am until 7:00pm on Sat-Wed and 9:00pm on Thurs and Fri.

Launching of Mleiha Archaeological and Eco-tourism Project press conference
The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has announced on the 24 January 2015 the completion of the phase one of the Mleiha Archaeological and Eco-tourism Project, saying it will create a new tourist attraction in the UAE and the wider Arab region with an estimated AED 250 million expected to be invested over the next few years.
The first phase will see the opening of the Mleiha Archaeological Centre, designed to allow visitors to gain a deeper insight in a fun and interactive manner. The building is designed to cater to the needs of tourists and provide them with information about Mleiha’s landmarks. The centre will have archaeological finds on display, informative and educational displays with historical facts about the region, a cafe and lounges, interactive screens that display documentaries about Mleiha’s history, signboards with details about the area, a store for the brand I Love Sharjah, service facilities and administration offices.
Part Two: Discover Mleiha - where archeological artifacts date back 130,000 years ago
Located an hour’s drive away from Dubai in the emirate of Sharjah, Mleiha includes archaeological sites, a museum, activities including trekking and horseback riding, wadi caves and artifacts dating back to the first movement of humans from Africa 130,000 years ago.

Mleiha Archaeological centre is a UNESCO-nominated World Heritage Site in the Sharjah, UAE. It is home to a number of significant sites, including Bronze Age tombs & pre-islamic forts.
Amazing artifacts & fossils were discovered here including archeological artifacts that date back 130,000 years.
Also we can visit Fossil Rock, a huge rock formation filled with marine fossils.
The surrounding area is a beautiful location for a desert camp on soft dunes & under glittering night stars.
How to get there
Mleiha is located south of Al Dhaid near Jebel Fayah, around 65km southeast of Sharjah.

Meliha Archaeological Centre is a visitor centre and exhibition based around the history and archaeology of the areas surrounding the village of Mleiha in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates. Built around a preserved Umm Al Nar era tomb, the centre details the excavations and discoveries made over the past 40 years at Mleiha and surrounding areas (including Al Thuqeibah, Jebel Faya, Al Madam and Jebel Buhais), particularly the important Faya North East find, which provides evidence that 'anatomically modern humans' were in the Mleiha area between 130,000 and 120,000 years ago. These finds point to the spread of humanity from Africa across the Red Sea to the Persian Gulf region, and onward to populate the world through Iran, India, Europe and Asia.
Fossil Rock, or Jebel Mleiha, overlooks the Mleiha Archaeological Centre, which offers tours to the popular destination.
The centre was opened on 24 January 2016 by the Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi. The multi-phase eco-tourism development is intended in future to comprise accommodation, a campsite and an astronomical observatory, with a total investment of some UAE Dhs 250 million. It will also include the development of a 450 km desert park.[ The centre was developed by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq).
