We live in a dangerous world. We all know this but we still go on vacation to places that better our chances of being in danger. Danger always seems to be part of tourism. I guess that is part of the attraction. Today we are listing 10 places in the United States that are dangerous to visit. These tourist spots are state parks, national parks, states, beaches, and 1 defunct amusement park.

If you only want some happy positive information about a city, town, or state, I would suggest looking up local mortgage and real estate companies or maybe the locations website. They are trying to sell you something so it will be nothing but sunshine, rainbows, and a bunch of smoke up your skirt. They won't tell you about crime, poverty, or the insurance you'll need because of natural disasters. I will.

You know some countries are more dangerous than Detroit or a Lingerie party at my cousin's ex-wife's house. Yes, it's hard to believe, I know.
In general, the world can be a dangerous place. You could be in danger no matter where your plane lands. The thing is, some countries excel in danger. And some even bump that up a notch depending on where you hail from. If you think everyone in the world loves America and its people, you’ve lived a sheltered life and I want to congratulate you on escaping from where ever you were and are now able to get on the internet to watch this video.
The fact is, some countries are dangerous for everyone, especially Americans, so much so the Dept. of State updates a report every couple weeks called Travel Advisory. This is a report that ranks the danger level a country might have for Americans that travel there. It has colors like a mood right of danger and goes from level 1 Blue that Exercise normal precautions, up to 4) Red Do not travel.

If you're tired of all-inclusive beach holidays, sightseeing tours, and package deals, if your sick of vacationing in the same boring places, why not try something a little more exciting and a lot more dangerous? Here are the 10 Most Dangerous Tourist Destinations ON EARTH!
1. Praia De Boa Viagem, Brazil
One of Brazil's most beautiful beaches, its warm waters make it a wonderful place to swim, and not just for humans. In 2012 an 18-year old became the 56th shark attack victim in the last 20 years. Shark attacks have an average mortality rate of 16% but here, for some unknown reason, Bull and Tiger Sharks are much more aggressive and mortality rates are a whopping 37%!
2. Shenzhen Safari Park
Home to over 10,000 animals and over 300 different species, it also has some of the rarest species too! The Giant Panda, The Golden Monkey, and Magellanic penguin to name a few. Shenzhen safari park is also home to numerous lions and tigers, and these animals are not in cages! you can view them from the inside of the caged tour bus, Just Be Careful With Your Fingers!
3. Mount Sinabung, Indonesia
Hikers and climbers travel here to reach the summit of mount Sinabung whilst enjoying the beautiful Indonesian landscape. However, this Mountain is actually a volcano and after 1200 years of lying dormant, in 2010 it began erupting, further eruptions in 2013 and 2014, and a Pyroclastic flow in 2016 which killed 7 visitors. these small eruptions seem to warn us of an imminent larger one although no one knows when, so visit at your own risk!
4. Kokoda and Black Cats trails, Papua New Guinea
If you enjoy trekking, you may want to consider Papua New Guinea. This 4 to 5 day Trek through mountains and leech-infested swamps to the town of Wau is known as one of the toughest in the world. Lonely Planet described it as only suitable for Masochists and Israeli Paratroopers.
5. Mount Washington, New Hampshire
At around 6200 ft tall, Mount Washington is actually a rather small mountain, don,t let its size fool you though as it's actually known as the most dangerous small mountain in the world. It has extremely high winds, with gusts up to 230mph! It has recorded 150 fatalities since 1849 and is known to have literally blown climbers off it.
6. Madidi National Park, Bolivia
This Park is one of the largest protected areas in the world and also one of the most biodiverse. However, if you wish to visit it you will be faced with some challenges. Torrential rain can make the flight into Rurrenabaque, let's just say interesting. Next, a 15-hour bus trip on a flood-prone mountain path in addition to the numerous insects, parasites, poisonous plants, snakes, and spiders doesn't really make for a good Travel Brochure.
7. Lake Natron, Tanzania
Lake Natron is a salt lake and has extremely alkaline water, this water is home to very little, some endemic algae, invertebrates, and birds, most notably the lesser flamingos who gather there to feed upon Spirulina the algae which gives the birds their color.
The lake's excessive alkalinity, above 12, and extreme temperatures, up to 140f make it not only an inhospitable place but also a dangerous one.
8. Mount Hua, China
Mount Hua is one of China's most important mountains and also one of the most dangerous, claiming around 100 lives a year. The only way up is via a thin wooden walkway that is bolted onto the side of the mountain and some wires to hold onto. the lack of handrails turns any slight loss of footing into a 7000ft freefall!
9. Yosemite Half Dome, California
Whilst on the subject of dodgy ascents, the Half Dome is 8800ft high and the only way up is via an improvised stairway made of two handrails and some planks of wood. The half-dome has claimed 12 lives in recent years and 240 emergency incidents.
10. Skellig Michael, Ireland
This twin-peaked island is home to a 7th-century monastery which is accessible via 3 stone staircases. These staircases were made to be difficult to climb as a defense mechanism against invaders. Nowadays these stairs are a defense mechanism against tourists, especially when wet, which is almost always. Many tourists have complained asking for handrails to be installed, although the Irish tourist board says this would ruin this perfectly preserved historical site, and that maybe tourists should do some research before visiting.

If you're tired of the boring everyday haul and want a change, you may be thinking of going on an adventurous holiday. but unless you're addicted to adrenaline, have the most boring job in the world, or you have a death wish, it's probably best to avoid these 8 dangerous tourist attractions.
1. Villarrica Volcano, Chile.
What's more dangerous than an active volcano?... Bungee Jumping from a helicopter into an active volcano! yep, the only way this could be more dangerous would be if you were holding a shark while you did it. For $16,000, you'll board a helicopter with a photographer, and Bungee jump, 400ft/122m into the Caldera of the Villarrica Volcano, the next day you'll bungee jump down into a lava tube down the face of a 100ft/30m waterfall, the next day you'll go whitewater rafting and the final day (just in case you need more of an adrenaline rush) you'll go skydiving.
2. Stairway to heaven, Hawaii.
On the island of O'ahu, Hawaii is a disused U.S navy Radio transmitting facility used in WWII to communicate with ships in the pacific ocean. However, it's not the facility that is interesting but the hike and views up to it. 3,922, 18inch/45cm wide steel steps follow the mountain ridgeline for 4000ft/1220m climbing to heights over 2000ft/610m with just a handrail to stop you from falling off the edge. The stairway is badly maintained and hiking the stairs is dangerous and illegal, with fines of up to $1000.
3. Trolltunga, Norway.
Trolltunga or Trolls tongue is a rock formation that juts out horizontally from the mountain at an altitude of 2300ft/700m. The hike to reach the Trolls tongue is a challenging and grueling one. To hike from the village of Skjeggedal to Trolltunga and back will take you over 10 hours and you will hike approximately 27km/17miles over rough terrain with no shelters or places to buy supplies.
4. Gap Bridge, China.
In a theme park in Chongqing, China. There's an attraction the not everyone is capable of doing. 500ft/150m off the ground is Extreme Leap! It's a bridge with steel platforms set with different sized gaps between them and no handrail, this gives you an overwhelming sense of vertigo and some people find themselves incapable of crossing. The park also offers Cliff swings, various glass bridges, and the famous Cantilever Air Corridor an A-shaped bridge that juts out of the cliffside 262ft/80m completely unsupported.
5. White Water Rafting, Colorado.
Colorado has many rivers for the practice of rafting and this sport, although exhilarating, is dangerous. The majority of these rivers originate from the melting snow from the Rocky Mountains, however, the amount of snow on the mountains and the rate of thaw are unpredictable, and therefore the speed and quantity of water flowing down the river are also. Although rafters may have years of experience, they still rely heavily on their skill and quick reactions and humans is prone to error.
6. White Line Cycling, Sedona, Arizona
Possibly the most dangerous Mountain bike route on the planet, The White line trail is for experts only, you'll need to lower the pressure in your tires and stiffen your suspension (and your nerves!) The line isn't actually technically difficult and the ride out is easier than the ride back, but once you start, you are committed to finish! and any mistake will probably mean death.
7. Mount Everest, Nepal.
Since its conquest in the 1950s, Mount Everest has gained in fame and notoriety. Whereas before only a few would attempt it, nowadays people flock to Nepal to give it a try. The very small window of opportunity to summit the mountain means that dangerous concentrations of hundreds of climbers attempting to do so happen, with some accounts of climbers Stepping over the dead in order to reach the summit. Since its 1953 conquest, there have been over 300 deaths on Everest and 11 of them happened in the spring window of 2019.
8. Cliff Camping, Yosemite, California.
In Yosemite National Park is a vertical rock formation called El Capitan. It is a popular site for climbers, but climbing is 3000ft/914m high cliff face can take several days, so climbers bring special tents that can be Pitched on a vertical wall. while it may not be comfortable and definitely scary, the views are worth it.
