I was sick for the last two days in Lome and the first 2 days (of 3) in the village. Taking video wasn't my top priority. Luckily I was rolling more consistently throughout the rest of the trip.

Today I woke up thinking I was flying from Chad to Mali. But due to an unexpected flight cancellation (on my 2nd leg), I was left in Lomé, Togo for 24 hours. I definitely wasn't mad about it because it means that I have the chance to explore a new place! It's country #150 and also my very first time in West Africa.

Here's what I discovered over 24 hours in Togo. Have you ever been before?

Ulf`s & Pelle´s trip to Addis and West-Africa in march - april 2013. We stayed first in Addis Ababa for a few days. Then went on to Lomé, the capital in Togo. We travelled round by bus in the country from south to north. Our impressions seen from the eyes of Ulf and his camera.

Capital of Togo

Lomé is the capital of Togo, in West Africa. It's known for its palm-lined Atlantic coastline. The central Independence Monument is in a landscaped traffic circle.

The nearby Congressional Palace houses the National Museum, exhibiting West African jewelry, masks, musical instruments, and pottery. To the northeast, the Akodésséwa Fetish Market sells voodoo items like animal skins and skulls.

Lomé é a capital e maior cidade do Togo e da região Maritime. A cidade tem cerca de 837 437[1] habitantes (2008) e localiza-se na costa do Golfo da Guiné. Para além de ser a capital administrativa do país, é também a mais importante cidade do Togo. Lomé foi fundada no século XVIII pelo povo Éwé e tornou-se capital no século seguinte.

Em Fevereiro de 1975 a então Comunidade Económica Europeia assinou em Lomé um pacto económico com 46 países africanos, caribenhos e do Pacífico, que ficou conhecido como Convenção de Lomé.

We will take a drive along Lomé beach famous for its sandy beach and uniqueness. Along the beach road, Boulevard du Mono you will find a range of hotels to choose from.
Lome beach has its own unique feel. It is known as a place for parties, relaxation, sports, picnics with makeshift bars, restaurants.
The littoral is sandy, clean, fringed with coconut trees and spreads quite widely along the broad boulevards.
To get to the beach you have a range of transports and motorbikes taxis called
ZEMIDJAN. A great alternative to car taxis,
much faster to beat traffic and can take you straight from door to door.
