Cycling Zion With TJ Eisenhart

Utah cyclist TJ Eisenhart describes Zion National Park’s Kolob Terrace Road as a route that changed his cycling mentality. It’s a one-of-a-kind ride that transitions from red rock desert to green valley plateaus, and concludes with pines trees and the possibility of snow in the off-season.

Getting High on the Colorado Trail-Bikepacking Hut Trip Durango to Moab-Part 1

The Durango to Moab hut trip had been on my list of dream adventures for awhile, and I finally made it happen! The 7 day mountain bike route starts outside of Durango, and makes its way through the Colorado high country, down to the beautiful deserts of Moab. Each day is about 30 miles, for a total of about 220 miles. The best part is that you don't need to weigh down your bike with food and camping gear, the huts are fully stocked with everything you could ever want! There's even a fireplace for cold nights. For this adventure, our friends at Gates lent us super sweet REEB Six Fidy bikes equipped with Gates Carbon Drives and Pinion Gear Boxes. So smooth! In this episode, we ride about 20 miles on the Colorado Trail, starting at Molas Pass, and ending at Bolam Hut.

Here's info on the San Juan Huts:

Bikepacking October in Utah

The next part of my bikepacking trip along the Western Wildlands Route. In this part I ride south towards the mountains of central Utah from Blackfoot, Idaho to just past Solider Summit, Utah. Great views, fall colors, and lots of sun. Highlights include riding along Bear Lake, climbing over the Mirror Lake Highway in the Uinta Mountains, an amazing descent down to Strawberry Reservoir, and the golden colors of the aspens.

Katy Trail Bikepacking on Trek FX

We had a kids track meet in St. Charles, so we thought it was a great opportunity to bike back from St. Charles to Jefferson City, MO on the Katy Trail. They wives dropped us at a Holiday Inn Express and we spent the night, got up Sunday and hit the trail, then did an overnight camping at a local park. It was a cold overnight, but we had appropriate gear. We biked 47 miles day 1 and 67 miles day 2 for a total of 114 miles. Great test of our gear and more saddle time.

ADV Trip Around Flaming Gorge Ends With Flaming Bike!

My first ever ADV trip, two days of mostly dirt tracks around Flaming Gorge Reservoir in Southern Wyoming and Northern Utah. The trip was a blast but didn't end quite the way I had planned...I guess that's why they call it an adventure though.

Flaming Gorge Facts:
Named by John Wesley Powell in 1869 during his party's expedition down the Green River

The reservoir sits at an elevation of 6,040 feet when full, is 91 miles long, covers over 42,00 acres and has 360 miles of shoreline.

Flaming Gorge Dam was constructed from 1958-1962 and is 502 feet high.
