One Week In Kiritimati (Christmas Island)
After 6 months of planning, on December 2015, four friends embarked on a week long fishing trip to Kiritimati (Christmas Island, Pacific Ocean) from Honolulu.

Fishing with spinning reels with lures and bait (Papio/Jack, Ulua/GT, Bonefish, Triggerfish, Barracuda, Rainbow Runner, Awa/Milkfish, Lai/Leatherback and others).
Exploring the lagoons, deep water and sand flats trying to catch Mantis Shrimp.
Underwater footage (schools of fish and dolphins).
Meals and post fishing days at the Tekabaia Fishing Lodge.

Christmas Island - A Natural Wonder

The world's largest coral atol is beautiful from the air with hundreds of colourful lagoons. This is the weekly air service - an Air Pacific flight from Honolulu flying on to Nadi (Fiji). (This service has recently (Sept08) been suspended with the runway in disrepair). This visit was in August 2006. Pity we couldn't get off the plane. There's some traditional Fijian sounds broadcast on the plane and some music from Mogwai.
Christmas Island Fishing 2023 part 1!
After 3 years of Covid Lockdowns and airport issues, the mythical island was open! I was on the 2nd flight to arrive singe it opened. The fishing was just out of this world...Bonefish were bigger... Triggerfish were plentiful....Saw a few big GT as well.
Since there was 6 days of fishing, decided to break the videos into about 4 parts. This video is the general trip vibe and day 1 of fishing. The next 3 will cover the hardcore fishing. I'll do one for bones, triggers, and trevally. Please sub if you are interested in seeing those!
Kiritimati or Christmas Island Fly Fishing - Adventure Guru
Technically it's an atoll. Kiritimati Atoll, also called Christmas Atoll, is a coral island and is part of Kiribati, in the west-central Pacific Ocean. It is the largest island of purely coral formation in the world, having a circumference of about 100 miles (160 km)! Many fly and spin fisher men and women from around the world come to Kiritimati Island to wrestle with the Trevally. This fish is powerful and can be fount on flats, inside natural channels, in deep waters inside the lagoon, and offshore along the coastal reefs. They weigh anywhere from 10lbs - 100lbs+. While this is accessible year-round it's the least rainy from Sep - Nov. Thank you to Ken Betschart for filming and sharing your fun!

Christmas Island - A Natural Wonder
Christmas Island is often referred to as the Galapagos of the Indian Ocean due to its unique and varied wildlife which includes large numbers of endemic as well as migratory sea birds. It is also known as the Kingdom of Crabs, for its many land crabs, especially the millions of red crabs, the annual migration of which has been described as one of the Wonders of the Natural World. Its volcanic landscape is home to forests and waterfalls, and there are large cave and cavern systems within it. The ocean around it abounds with marine life, from hundreds of species of reef fish, to the migratory pelagics: manta rays and whale sharks.

MSFS 2020 - Christmas Island, aka Kiritimati Island
This flight takes off from Banana Village Airport and lands at Cassidy International Airport, both of which are on the island of Kiritimiti, also known as Christmas Island. This island has the greatest land area of any coral atoll in the world (about 150 square miles). The entire island is also a wildlife sanctuary. The thumbnail photo is around 03:03 into the flight.
