TRIP REPORT | 7,000KM+ Across Mountains & Deserts! | Paris to Mumbai | Air France Boeing 777-300ER
Air France Trip Report flying from Paris to Mumbai onboard one of the Air France Boeing 777 on a beautiful winter day over Europe and Asia.
A quite comfortable flight from Paris to Mumbai on an Air France Boeing 777-300ER. I say quite comfortable because there were some things that didn't allow it to be as good as it could be: the plane was really old (windows in bad condition), the cabin was old (no sockets), the crew was not very friendly, one of the worst IFEs I've ever seen... it wasn't a bad flight but it could have been much better.
We took off from runway 09L at Paris CDG airport and quickly made a small right turn to start our route to Mumbai. Initially, we flew towards Zurich. From there we set course towards Venice across the Alps. Luckily the Alps were without any clouds, so we could enjoy some amazing views of them, fully covered with snow. We had also a camera on the right side of the plane, so the views were even more impressive.
Once we reached the Venice area we continued towards the Adriatic Sea, ik parallel course to the Croatian coast. Once again here, the views were stunning. I think we had never seen this part of the world without any clouds ln the channel. What a marvelous place to visit! We flew next to Pula, Rikeja, and Split, while we were flying in direct towards Athens.
We didn't reach the Greek capital, but instead made a left turn and crossed all Greece towards the Aegean Sea. We were flying in direct course to Rhodos island when we entered this sea and we could spot the amazing island of Skiathos, Kos, and Rhodos. From there we crossed the Mediterranean Sea towards the Sinai Peninsula.
We crossed it from northwest to southeast, enjoying some of the best views of the Gulf of Aqaba that I've ever seen. Then we continued across Saudi Arabia towards Bahrein, east of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. We left Dubai on our right and quickly crossed Oman. From there we flew in direct course to Mumbai, where we landed almost 1 hour late.
Let's talk about the onboard service. There were 2 services on this flight: meal (main) and snack (secondary). For today's flight both meal options were vegetarian: pasta with cheese or rice with vegetables. I opted for the pasta. It was one of the plainest meals I've ever had on a plane. It came with a cereal salad which was quite good, a piece of cheese, bread & butter, and some kind of small chocolate dessert. A pretty plane meal to say the least. The coffee though I must say it was really good.
Around 1 hour and 45 minutes before landing the crew served the pre-landing snack. It came on the already classic Air France snack bag. It contained half a sandwich of carrots, 40g of almonds, and a small yogurt. The bag makes it look cool... but it's a ridiculously small meal. Even more if we compare it to what Vistara offers on an equivalent route that we already have on the channel.

We flew Air France from Bangalore to Paris then connected to Rennes in Brittany. We flew with a new Boeing 787 aircraft. A good 24 hours journey ! Both flights were almost full. India to France EU Covid Pass and Air Bubble Explained - November 2021
You NEED to have the EU COVID Pass while you are traveling in Europe now. And to travel to Europe from India you NEED to take flights in the AIR BUBBLE. I recently flew from India to France and here are my thoughts for you about these topics.
First of all to enter France or any EU country, you do not need this EU Covid pass. You can use the vaccination certificate given to you in your country. But to avail long distance trains, dine in at restaurants, go for clubbing, it is absolutely a MUST that you carry this EU Covid Pass with you.
For some countries like Switzerland, you can get it online. France allowed online FREE conversion of your vaccination certificate to the EU QR format till a couple of weeks ago in October. Now the only way to get it from France is through pharmacies. Once you land in France, you need to go to a pharmacy, pay approximately 36 euros and get this done.
Next about Air Bubble flights, please be careful of this. Check the latest news about Air Bubble Agreements and call the airlines always before buying tickets. Book directly from Airline websites to get refunds faster than travel agencies. Be extra careful if you are booking British Airways as they are very strict about this air bubble.

Starting this Monday, travellers with Indian will no longer require an Airport Transit Visa while transiting through the international zone of any airport in France.
I'm pleased to announce that, with effect from July 23, 2018, holders of Indian passports will no longer require an Airport Transit Visa (ATV) while transiting through the international zone of any airport in France, tweeted Alexandre Ziegler, Ambassador of France to India.
An airport transit visa is applicable for the people who are just transiting the Schengen territory and who will not leave the transit area of the airport. However, hotel accommodations are only available outside the transit area and you would need a regular tourist visa if youwant to stay in the hotel overnight.
There are two types of a transit visa under the Uniform Schengen visa group destined for travellers who are passing by a Schengen member country in order to reach their final destination.
