DIY $2 or less Plastic Pipe Hand Spinners - Fidget Spinners

My easiest build yet - made from 1/2 inch PVC or 3/4 inch PEX pipe, 1 inch washers, and a skate bearing race. These fidgets can take a lot of hard use, dropping, pounding, and still spin like new.

Make sure to heat up the pipe outside like I do or in a well ventilated area.

Here are the ball bearing races I used:

Here is the heat gun I used:

Silent Check Valves: Do They Stop The Thumping? YES!!! (before and after test)

Update #2: May 2020: Instead of replacing the check valve I took the suggestion of someone that commented and raised the check valve higher up. It works great again! If and when I'm able to upload a new video I will. You may also want to install the check valve further from the pump so the thumping sound doesn't come back.

Update #1: April 2019----- It's been about 3 months and this check valve has stopped working. The thump has returned and I'm going to have to remove this check valve and try a different brand. Frustrating to say the lease that it didn't last.

Silent check valves are a great way to silence that annoying thump or bang you are hearing every time your sump pump or sewage/ejector pump run.

After installing a new sewage pump I kept hearing a thumping or banging noise when the pump ejected the water. It was driving me (and my wife) crazy. Anytime we used the bathroom downstairs or washed clothes in the washing machine we had to listen to the annoying thumping noise from the regular check valve.

I found that the only solution was to replace the original check valve with a silent check valve. In the video you can clearly see that it reduced the thump to virtually nothing. It worked great and was worth the money I spent on it!

The one I installed is made by AY McDonald, there is a direct link to it below.

My Install: The only problem I ran into was I needed a coupling to connect one side of the silent check valve to PVC and ant other side to copper pipe. A link to the coupling is also below. .

Link to the silent check valve I installed in the video (AY McDonald):

Links to the 2 other silent check valves on Amazon that I'm sure will also work just fine:

1. This Campbell silent check valve has a lot of good reviews:

2. I'm sure this one is good too: Zoeller silent check valve:

If you need to connect 2 inch PVC to 2 inch copper like I did in the video this is the coupling I used:

Let me know how your install goes in the comments section!

How NOT to do Your Van Build Plumbing?

This was a struggle...leaks, leaks, leaks. Eventually, I figured it out. But the start and middle were a real struggle.

Read the walkthru here:

The sink:

The faucet:

All-purpose silicone:

Water jugs:

Foot pump:

I got my flexible tubing (the stuff that actually worked, not the rigid blue stuff) from a local hardware store. Just make sure you get 1/2 INTERNAL diameter to work with the foot pump.

Metal clamp rings:

Teflon tape:

I spent an hour in a Home Depot PVC isle fitting pieces together that would fit the bottom of the sink and feed down to a 1/2 barb for the tubing.

I got the bungee cord from my local hardware store.

I used these wood screws to secure various things (and have used this throughout the whole van build for various things):

The induction stove I use:

Music:

My van is a 2019 Ford Transit 150 Medium Roof with a 148 wheelbase.
