Bentonville: Bonnie and Dixie medley

Confederate band plays a medley of Bonnie and Dixie for a cheering crowd at Bentonville at the 150th anniversary of this famous Civil War battle.

Also, the (other) cameraman is being annoying.

--------
On March 19th–21st, 1865, the Confederate and Union armies clashed once more in the fields of North Carolina in what would become one of the largest battles fought late in the Civil War. 150 years later, reenactors from all over the country and beyond came to the same fields to honor the epic struggle of their ancestors and tell the story of the battle of Bentonville.

“Rousing and spirited!” -Broadway World
“Exuberant!” -Woman Around Town
“Visually stunning!” -Theatre Bloom
“A triumph!” –DC Metro Theater Arts

This epic musical features the words of Abraham Lincoln and music inspired by the letters of those who lived through the Civil War. With rousing music, stirring speeches and rich, historic costumes, Freedom’s Song evokes the soaring hopes and tragic losses of the real people of Civil War America. Through a series of highly theatrical vignettes, we see everyday Americans courageously confront the gritty realities of a tattered nation and a war that pitted brother against brother. Lincoln’s inspirational words intermix with these stories, imagining a bloody nation once again unified and the return of a truly United States. Jeff Calhoun (Broadway’s Newsies) returns to direct this lively historical opus.

Wildcat Regiment (brass) Band concert from Gettysburg

This video features most of the concert held on June, 14th, 2014 at Gettysburg National Military Park. You can learn more info about the band here:

We stumbled upon this free, open-air concert purely by chance whilst visiting Gettysburg. It was a beautiful afternoon and we are interested to see that the band plays original period instruments which they care for beautifully. We also added a few scenes from the Gettysburg National Military Park to the video to show you some of the setting. We had almost zero knowledge of brass bands but were quite taken with the way this band performed and the audience response. A very pleasant afternoon.
