Countryside Homestay Experience | Traditional Japan House In Akita

It was my first time doing a homestay experience in the countryside of Japan but it sure was a very memorable and eye opening experience for me.

If you also want to stay here, email my friends at Akita Inu Tourism and they can help you contact Ishigaki-san and book for you in Japanese :) (English friendly - yay!)
akitainu.tourism@gmail.com

After Ishigaki-san retires, she wants to do this kind of homestay experience more and introduce more people to the beauty of the country side.

Here are all the activities I did in Akita:

I hope this video gave you some insight on what life can be like in the countryside of Japan! I love the countryside more as it's less explored by tourists so you really can see this raw kind of Japan and understand the local culture and history more.

Each prefecture has it's own speciality and history so what better way to immerse yourself in the culture than to try a homestay experience? :) I know a lot of you are worried if you can't speak Japanese but honestly you will be fine! It's not the language that matters, it's the connection between two people so step out of your comfort zone and try it. Japanese people in the countryside tend to be very friendly too and I'm sure they will give you a helping hand if you are lost even if they don't speak English.

If you do decide to go, let me know how your experience was and also tell Ishigaki-san I said hi! Hopefully she remembers me?! LOL

Have a good weekend everyone!!

Our traditional Japanese home - Moving to Japan in 2022

We are moving to Japan in 2022. With this video, we want to show you the traditional home of my grandparents, where we are going to stay in the beginning. My grandparents built this house 61 years ago in a traditional Japanese way. It is from a temple carpenter, and my family always took good care of it, so everything looks really beautiful. We will start our small tour through the house at our Japanese garden.

Japan 2009: Maddie's Homestay Experience

I finally got around to putting together the video material!

This 4-week exchange was sponsored by UW Extension, States 4-H International, and LEX Institute Japan. I can truly say that this experience has changed my life! Without it, I wouldn't have my current job at WI 4-H International, or be studying Japanese at University of Madison, WI. It opened my eyes to so many possibilities, and has encouraged me to pursue a future career with an international focus. I hopefully plan on going back to Japan within a few years, ideally for a longer stay.

If you are a member of 4-H in Wisconsin, and are interested in going to Japan, or another available country (including Argentina, Mexico, Finland, Norway, Australia, Tanzania and Korea), please visit : wi4hinternational.org for more information.

【4K】I LIVED ONE YEAR IN JAPANESE COUNTRYSIDE (Tsuruoka City)

Music used: Arn Andersson & Mark Brittingham - Nyneve's Dream (feat. Merethe Soltvedt)
It's already been one year I am living in Japanese countryside (Tsuruoka City). I made so many encounters. Human ones, yes, but also non material ones too. My encounters with Shugendo practice, local legends, food, and much more. This video sums up what kind of experiences I've been living during 1 year in Japanese countryside. Because Japan is not only Tokyo-Kyoto.
