This video shows what its like flying over the island of Bora Bora in a helicopter. If you are looking for a fun activity while on your vacation or honeymoon, nothing beats seeing this enchanting tropical paradise of French Polynesia from the air. During a tour you will get to experience close up views of many popular points of interest. There are two tours available, an 'essential' tour around Bora Bora which lasts 15 minutes. There is a second tour that includes Bora Bora & the nearby island of Tupai, this tour lasts 30 minutes.

The Most Beautiful Flight - Air Tahiti to Bora Bora
I traveled on Air Tahiti to explore the beauty of French Polynesian islands. My flight is from Papeete to Bora Bora with a stop at Huahine. I was invited to fly in the cockpit jumpseat on Air Tahiti ATR 72-600. Our first leg from Papeete to Huahine took about 30 minutes flying at 12,000 ft. We had a clear view of Moorea on the way.
Huahine is an island located among the Society Islands. Our flight brings in locals, tourists and daily supplies. Flying time to Bora Bora was just 15 minutes, at 4,000 ft. The weather becomes clear and I can see the turquoise-blue ocean and crystal-clear lagoon. The scenery was out of this world and it was one of the most beautiful flights I’ve taken.
There are no roads and no cars at Bora Bora airport. The only transportation is by boat to the main center or hotel. My flight back to Papeete was equally scenic, we flew low over some Tahitian overwater bungalow. Aviation plays an important role in transporting travelers and cargo supplies to these islands.

On our recent trip to Bora Bora, we decided to take a 30-minutes helicopter tour with Tahiti Helicopters ( for our first ever ride. We had a fantastic 30 minute tour of both Bora Bora and Tupai the heart shaped island in French Polynesia / Tahiti, although do to weather we could not do a full circle around Bora Bora. We had a great pilot and smooth journey on the twin engine helicopter. We highly recommend doing this if you are ever in Bora Bora!

Bora Bora is a 29.3 km2 (11 sq mi) island in the Leeward group in the western part of the Society Islands of French Polynesia, an overseas collectivity of France in the Pacific Ocean. The island, located about 230 kilometres (143 miles) northwest of Papeete, is surrounded by a lagoon and a barrier reef. In the centre of the island are the remnants of an extinct volcano rising to two peaks, Mount Pahia and Mount Otemanu, the highest point at 727 metres (2,385 feet).
Bora Bora is a major international tourist destination, famous for its aqua-centric luxury resorts. The major settlement, Vaitape, is on the western side of the main island, opposite the main channel into the lagoon. Produce of the island is mostly limited to what can be obtained from the sea and the plentiful coconut trees, which were historically of economic importance for copra. According to a 2008 census, Bora Bora has a permanent population of 8,880.
