SHEKI, AZERBAIJAN: A Hidden Gem on the Silk Road
In this Azerbaijan travel vlog, we explored the city of Sheki and a village just outside, Kich (or Kis or Kish village). We loved the small mountain village landscapes, the towering southern caucasus mountains and the endless greenery even in the peak of summer. This video was recorded during the summer Euro 2020 of 2021... it was part of my travel plan across the few cities I visited during my two weeks stay in Azerbaijan.
The silk road dating back from the 18th century a piece of history a city and a place one should visit when in Azerbaijan..
Sheki is a beautiful city surrounded by the beautiful caucasus mountains with so much history and it was a real privilege to visit..
There is one more video to come from the beautiful city of Sheki before we set and embark on our next destination to the city of Nabran..

Shaki is a city in northwestern Azerbaijan, surrounded by the district of the same name. It is located on the southern part of the Greater Caucasus mountain range, 240 km from Baku. As of 2020, it has a population of 68,400
Mingachevir is the fourth-largest city in Azerbaijan with a population of about 106,000. It's often called the city of lights because of its hydroelectric power station on the Kur River, which divides the city down the middle.

BAKU TO SHEKI BY ROAD | AZERBAIJAN SERIES | EP-4
Hi there! Welcome back to my Azerbaijan series.
In this episode we're traveling by road towards the northwestern Azerbaijan to a small but beautiful historic town called Sheki. It's located along the ancient Silk Road and it's well known for its local cuisine, sweets, and many beautiful remnants of the once prosperous Silk Road.
Driving distance from Baku to Sheki is 304 kilometers (189 miles)and it takes roughly 4 and half hours. You can either take a public bus or book a private transfer. If you're traveling in a group, I'd suggest consider booking a private transfer as the bus journey can take longer and it's more tiring comparatively.

Trails of Eurasia TV visited the Caravanserai in Old City Baku, Azerbaijan. It has a square shape and an inner quadrangular courtyard with cut corners. This caravanserai was built in the 12th century, located 3 min walk from the Maiden Tower. The north and south entrances of the caravanserai are portal-shaped. During the Middle Ages, there was a main entrance from the sea. It is a monument of national importance. The caravanserai consisted of counters from the shopping street that did not have direct communication with the courtyard. However, it is believed that there used to be a functioning Madrasah nearby which was part of the Jameh (Juma) complex, and the rooms of the caravanserai were considered for students studying in Madrasah.
The caravanserai now features an Art garden which includes art galleries and a restaurant of national cuisine with a famous Azerbaijani Chef Mammay. Each room of the monument has been decorated by a different Azerbaijani artist.
We present you local Lamb Rack (sebet) which was cooked inside tendir (traditional oven) and coated with dogwood sauce.

GABALA, Azerbaijan - In this travelogue, I will be sharing the experience of the remaining part of my 5th day in Azerbaijan. After check-in at Viva Hotel Gabala at night, I walked to Ali Baba pizza in front of Heydar Aliyev congress hall. It was drizzling. The Pizza was good and costed 31 manat.
Next day, after having breakfast at the hotel I went to Sheki. Sheki is known for its rich culture, heritage and history. Full Day Exploring Sheki City & Kish Village
Shaki is a city in northwestern Azerbaijan, surrounded by the district of the same name. It is located on the southern part of the Greater Caucasus mountain range, 240 km from Baku. As of 2020. The center of the city and the Palace of Shaki Khans were inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2019 because of its unique architecture and its history as an important trading center along the Silk Road.
This Video includes a tour of Summer and Winter palace of Sheki khan, Caravanserai which was an important trading stop on old silk road. We also visited the village of kish which is a beautiful village in sheki district.
